I bought a BPS ADVENTURER when my Ka-Bar was stolen yrs ago and it's the only fixed blade I carry now.

I bought this knife and did something similar, though I scoured mine with steel wool, washed with soap and water, and warmed it in the oven at 250 before letting mine sit in a shallow container of vinegar for an hour flipping it a few times. Then I did 3% H202 for about 10 minutes each side, then vinegar again for 20 on each side, and washed with soap.
Afterwards, I heated it up again, coated it with olive oil and baked it in the oven at 350 like I would a cast iron skillet (though I put it on a broiling rack to protect it from direct radiation from the elements). I also soaked the sheath in olive oil until it was completely impregnated, and let the scales soak in olive oil, too. This gave it a non-stick coating like a skillet.
I use it when I'm wading in the river trout fishing and for cleaning fish and it works marvelously without a spot of rust since this treatment. Some have concerns about leaving it in the sheath, but when the sheath is oil soaked, too, there's no moisture in it to be a problem.

Potatoes are great ways to patina a knife and is a great corrosion inhibitor. Just food for thought if you get another. Place it in the potato over night.

P.S. dont hesitate to use Ballistol oil on it, its biodegradable and food-safe :)

Great video. Mostly for the 'sweet spot' philosophy - also informative for people who are trying to figure out a lot of stuff when it comes to purchasing a field knife. I also own this knife - great bang for the buck!

I use mineral oil, its food safe and doesnt have the potential to foul like olive oil etc Can, one of my older blades sheath got really funky from using olive oil. Cheers

Good video - Picked up an Adventurer for $40 and am really impressed. Own several camp/survival knives that are a more expensive but these are a great value. Very competitive with the pricier knives and you can fine tune it to suit your needs.

Beavercraft is another great knife thats made in ukraine. I actually prefer the ergonomics of the beavercraft. Also comes with a similar leather sheath. The beavercraft comes with a mirror finish and shaving sharp. Ive beat the hell out of my bsh1 for the past month and still havent needed to resharpen the edge. Ive even batoned through dry ash, oak, walnut, and maple and its still scary sharp

I ordered one of these, and want to do what did to it. I am wondering if you can still get a tight connection back with the screws that must be very shirt on length. Like how deep do the screws go into the shank?

I bought mine and am wondering if I should just care for it or force patina.
    Good video.
I might use mustard and put swirls in the mustard for design. But I like the stripes on yours too.
I bought a mora garberg to have a stainless steel. I wanted the best of both worlds using the rule of diminishing returns. 😂😂😂 The garberg is a great price right now.
Side question, 5k for a classical guitar?
I read that, that is the sweet spot.
I have not even learned to play my seagull guitar yet. But it would be dream to own a good sounding guitar like I hear in the classical guitar competitions on CZcams.
    It's just a dream 🤣.

I may have neutralized the acidic activity of the vinegar with baking soda solution, then rinsed and died it before I reassembled it, especially under the handle area. Oil that area also.

Mount the camera. That will solve two issues, 1, you can use both hands, 2. viewers do not have to watch a bouncy video as in what do we focus on.

Not an “Amazon” knife lol. BPS Ukrainian knives! They are great didn’t even advertise their name brand really until recently. I have one that says BPS knives but not made in Ukraine.
