Mario Kart 8 ran at 60 fps on the Wii U, and they can't get this game running at 60 fps on the PS4 Pro / XB1X? Then they try to make it look like it is running smoother with excessive amounts of motion blur. Barf.
MK8 also plays like shit though

@@tek3576 ahahahaha thanks for the good laugh man
Even though its 30 fps it looks like a lot of care has gone into this. But ideally they should offer 60fps or 30fps options. I'm sure many would happily take lower visual quality for better frame rates.
There is no excuse as to why a PS1 remake remaster with current gen graphics cannot run a 60fps on base PS4 xbone at full 1080p... what's going on is a dev team favoring "platform parity" which means the game code is sloppy after and is then enhanced to look good at 30fps... then you go to PS4 Pro and xbonex... lmaooo
I picked Team sonic racing over this because of the framerate
No 60fps come on! Mario Kart does 60fps/1080p just fine. There's no excuse here.
Even the Wii and gamecube Mario kart games target 60. There’s no reason why beenox could have done the same here
The visuals and effects are greater than that of MK, and it also plays better so I think it's a fair trade off
@@tek3576 Plays better? It really doesn't.
@@Collymillad it really does though, I mean mechanically
@@haysen123 Guess we'll have to agree to disagree, in my opinion MK8 would be better than CTR even if it ran at 30fps.
You're too kind to Beenox here. The X and the Pro could be pushed to 60 fps easily. I'm confident the PS4 and XO could hit it, too.
It the games can't reach the 60fps is only bevande all the consoles here featured mount the same Jaguar cpu. The only thing Who changes Is the clock Speed. And even on the Xbox One X the increase of the cpu clock Is top small to garantuee the double of cpu Power needed to run the game logic at he double of the Speed. Wait for the next consoles to start seeing more cpu related stuffs take actions.
@@bomberman4046 It's a PSOne game. There is no reason the PS4 CPU can't keep up 60fps.
@@SoaringDive Like the other crash remastered, this game is made completly from scratch. It's a remake, not a remastered. And that's means re-done from zero. Everything you see in the game is recreated from zero. The engine behind the game is completly different, every assets got remade from scratch, the course are created from zero, everything is recreated holding in mind the look and feel of the game on ps1, but nothing is the same. The proportions of courses are probably all differents, because they are recreates similar to the original, but it's impossible achieve 1:1. @@christophercoey7804 That's not true. Games run at higher fps than server tick rates all the time.

FPS and racing games are garbage at 30 FPS. I'd love to play this game but I Will wait for a Pc version and play at 1440p 100+
totaly agree. Although it's not a real surprise because Activision did not provide a 60fps-mode for Crash and Spyro trilogy on Pro and One X, its still very disappointing because this one is a racing game where 60fps should at least (!) be an option. There is no excuse for this decision, we all know the engine is capable of doing 60fps from the PC-Versions. And: Mario Kart 8 runs in 1080p@60fps on Switch, this should have been a benchmark for CTR.
Dev made a dumb choice. Could've hit 60 on all these consoles and still made a good looking game.
But 60 FPS would mean half the graphics quality.
Ioannis Stf compare the textures and the environments.
If base Xbox can hold 1080p, it's a given that PS4 Pro should support 1800p and One X would play 4k at ease.
Or at least give an uncapped option at 1080p. The One X could easily hold 50+, if the S is stable at 30fps.

@@tek3576 Im not sure why you are assuming people are saying its not a remaster because of the added content... its a remake because it was remade from scratch using a new engine and assets.
Whatever was used in commercials is pretty irrelevant as well. If it were a remaster they would have used the same code and assets and just optimized the visuals, like the PS1 final fantasy games or something like Twilight Princess HD.
Another simple example is Shadow of the Colossus, in which there is both a Remaster and a Remake and the difference is very clear

the amount of details is what matters. because CTR is stylized it has more textures and requires more processing power
@Zaro Zaro I agree however its not near detailed as FH 4.
Yun Su it’s doesn’t have “more textures”. You think Forza has untextured models or something? Every object in both games is textured, there isn’t a case it “more” unless you mean more assets on screen. Which is debatable and what really matters actually is the polygon count, which we know for Forza is in the millions for each car - something I doubt Crash Team Racing is anywhere near.
This is why i hate it when developers emphasize resolution over fps. I much rather have a stable frame rate than anything above 1080p

Just wondering with ps4 pro, do I need to select quality/graphics to get the 1440P resolution? I know some games have an option to choose between performance and graphics, but I can’t seem to find that option in this game’s options. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How does mk8 reach 1080p 60fps on the switch but this only reaches 1080p 30fps on the ps4?
Because this uses way more visual effects

This game uses infinitely higher quality effects and assets. But I'm not seeing any reason why it can't be 60 fps. I know there's engine differences, but how can something like RE2 Remake be damn near photo realistic at 60 fps but this can't even hit 30?
Because mk8 deluxe is still a last gen game.
They shouldve pared back the visuals. Why a remaster has to have cutting edge graphics when the original was using low polygon models is beyond me.
Dear Bleenox, would you try to make a patch for the new consoles so the game can run @60fps?

@@alexanderulv3886 Hard to believe "faster" means anything if it's running at half-speed. The game is half as smooth and by halving the the framerate you've halved the skill ceiling. since you have half the precision.
Alexander Ulv it’s running at half speed of Mario Kart it literally can’t be faster. You may also want to check out MK8 200cc class....that’s faster than nearly any game out there.

Helping Hands RMX is a good game, but it’s completely different as it’s antigrav vehicle’s like fzero and wipeout. The courses are built to allow a sense of speed in straight lines. Mario Kart 8 at 200cc feels ridiculously fast due to the tight nature of the courses that were designed for slower speeds. What are the load times like on each platform? I find with games like this, a snappy load time is crucial for preserving the flow going from race to race and a few people have commented on them being a bit long.
Loading modes and exiting to menus take a bit, but it's a minor problem honestly since you can restart a race almost instantly

Weird, since it's bunk.
You refer to it as a ‘remaster’, but also say ‘recreation’ and ‘remaking...’ in the video. It is clearly a remake, so why use the term ‘remaster’ at all? A remake and a remaster are entirely different things, and this isn’t a remaster in any sense of the word, even if promotional text used the term.
It's a remaster lol
toujo4 A remaster is when original elements are taken and remastered for better hardware (subtle new assets may be created such as 2D elements, but for the most part 95% of the game is exactly the same but in higher resolution). CTR clearly is not using original elements.
alarmclockscreams he’s a troll
Who cares? What's the difference, remaster is a broad description. No one will be left confused, especially when pedants like yourself already litter the comments
Bobert Daniels ‘Remaster’ is not a broad description in the sense that it absolutely does not cover remakes. And I witness almost daily the very real confusion that has occurred *just* from the Crash and Spyro trilogies’ use of ‘remastered’ in their promotional material. This misinformation is spreading like wildfire.
I have found a distracting frame drop in Inferno Island, it really bothers me...
Digital Foundry calling this a “remaster” is only going to further confuse people about the very distinct difference between a remaster and a remake. It was bad enough when the Spyro and Crash trilogies used the term in their marketing but I would just expect DF to get it right :/ (It’s a remake)
It's not a remake. Just like Shadow of the Colossus (2018), Crash N'Sane Trilogy, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask 3D or the upcoming Medievil. They are not made from scratch. The have not been remade. They kept the basic structure and code and changed the overall look while they introduced some tweaks here and there on gameplay. Those are remastered. Absolutely amazing remasters... but not remakes.
Metroid Zero Mission is a remake. Pokémon Fire Red is a remake. Games that take the original as a starting point to build a new title from it. Not only from a visual perspective, but level and map design are familiar but totally different, expanded story, different gameplay with not just different and better controls, but with new and far more elements, upgraded music and sound...
If I'm playing Crash Team Racing on PS1 and you're playing this PS4 remastered... we're essentially playing the same game. Sure, yours looks much better than mine and also has online. But other than that is the same game.
If I'm playing Metroid Zero Mission and you're playing Metroid (NES)... we're not playing the same game. The core concept is the same: Samus has to explore Planet Zebes, kill the Metroids and Mother Brain. But what you and I actually do and the way we do it... is totally different. Because Zero Mission is a remake. Not a remaster.
I have to agree with Shinobu Sensui here even though this game is effectively being rebuilt from the ground up it is not a remake it is effectively a remastering of the original game. Nothing is intentionally being changed from the original outside of the graphics. That's why it's a remaster. A remake/reboot is something like Ratchet & Clank on PS4 it is very similar to the original even built using the same tools and by the same developer as the original yet it is very different indeed and the changes were intentional.
Even though Shadow of The Colossus was effectively rebuilt visually it too is a remake and underneath it all the character and AI is the very same PS2 code running on PS4 (with minute background tweaks that don't affect gameplay but which allow it to run on PS4 of course).
However I disagree strongly with his Smash Ultimate example as that is clearly just a sequel. It's a new game in the same franchise with minor iterative changes and improvements to gameplay, UI, character balancing, music, so on and so forth.... That's a sequel.
Crash has had many reboots, sequels and remakes in the past though. For examples of sequels look to the original trilogy. For examples of remakes look at CTR's _'sequels'_ which completely changed the underlying mechanics or even "Crash Twin Sanity" or "Crash of The Titans" and its sequel all of which changed the focus of the franchise dramatically as well.
Crash has also had a few spinoffs on mobile like those GBA and DS titles no one remembers similar to "Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters" or even more dramatically "Secret Agent Clank" (which I personally liked) both on PSP. You could argue "Ratchet Deadlocked" was a spinoff (not sure what Insomniac Games says about that though) and another game like "Ratchet and Clank All 4 One" is a good example of a spinoff, but unlike Ratchet & Clank, Crash has no companion titles for example "Ratchet and Clank: Beyond The Nexus" which is a mobile title that allows users to collect bolts and parts for weapons in the main game when players are away from their PS3 (yes, it's an older example, but not the oldest).
Anyway the differences between a lot of these things is becoming blurry and messy in recent years with some changes to Spyro bordering remake territory. For example some of the text was changed or outright removed with many animations at the beginning and ends of stages especially in Spyro 2. Not sure if this is to keep up with the ever changing ideals of progressives or what but it is very noticeable in some stages. So Spyro seems like a remake in some ways new voice actors, new controls, some major changes to animations, text and dialogue that can make some spots feel less familiar, but it intentionally is made to be very much like the original including the same levels and gameplay mechanics... So the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a remaster not a remake.
Same logic applies to Crash N.Sane Trilogy and this CTR title, they are all remasters of the original with very few changes to the core gameplay.
While I do appreciate your well-thought-out answers, I will have to disagree on a technical basis of the term ‘remaster’. A remake can in fact be almost exactly the same as the original - it does not have to differ in any substantial way. A remaster involves taking the original code (so including all original polygons) and basically making sure that they work with newer advanced hardware in the best way they can. And like a remake, a remaster doesn’t have to be 100% - Look at Perfect Dark on 360 for example; tons of newly made textures but the game still uses 90% original assets. There is just absolutely no way that CTR can be considered a remaster on a technical basis of the term’s meaning (re-mastering the original code for new hardware). The term might sound cooler, but we cannot use it just because we want to.

let alone MK8, more demanding games like GT Sport and Forza Horizon 4 ran at 60FPS.
how this couldn't is beyond me.
@@anasbakhit4303 Theyre essentially using the same build for all consoles. This version has to run on Switch.
@@yusuf8938
Team Sonic Racing is using the same build as well, ran 30 on the switch and 60 across the ps4's, XBONE's and PC.
@@anasbakhit4303 Theyre probably not running the same build bro.
No talking about the loading time?
HDD power
baxin worst part of the game. But I’ve been loving it lately
Would love to see PS4 / Switch comparison, especially when it comes to loading times. I've heard that Switch port has quite a problems, while it was the one I was thinking about, mostly due to cheaper online.
Going to be interesting to see how all us old people who were around when Crash came out play it now. But I suppose that was the same thought about the trilogy remaster.
no 60fps no buy !!!!
So wait for PC is what you're saying!!
Or just turn on motion interpolation like you used to recommend, because you don't notice the difference in racing games right 🤭
@@billygunn7713 That's as believable as your 2060 right 🤭
@@NexGenTek Well you're the one who said it. You said FH4 at 30fps with motion interpolation turned on looks and feels the same as 60fps and it was superior to the PC version 🤭
@@billygunn7713 Lol sure! Just like you said you use a 2060 😂.. oops🤭
@@NexGenTek I just checked again and you turned motionflow up to max 🤭 . . . . oops 😎
Given that the Switch version analisys is on it's way:
Couldn't the Nintendo Switch run indie games (specialy the majority of them that requires low GPU usage) bump the docked resolution to 1440p or even 4K for 2D games??
...why would you need it to do that if it could? Most indie games are pixel art or just 2D so I don't think the higher resolution will do much
@@tek3576 Trine Trilogy
No comparison with the switch version?
To me it seems obvious that they didn't get the budget to optimize the title for 60 fps for so many platforms. It's great that it got released on multiple platforms but it's sad that they didn't get the time/resources to hit 60fps at least on some platforms.
I decided to get it on Switch and it plays well with an occasional hiccup. I really love 60fps but 30fps is very playable I'm happy to say.
TheRavinoth I played the original in 60fps via an emulator will the difference in framerate be noticeable or will it be easy to adjust to?
Need a PC Version with 60Fps
It'll come. The nsane trilogy is on pc. Why not this game
Same. I'm not trying to play a cart racer at 30 fps.
@@merritt2014 I won't touch it unless it's 200+ fps
@@themarcshark Spyro came to PC as well. Makes sense to port this. If not it's a damn shame.
@@merritt2014 the original CTR is 30fps.. and still more fun than MarioKart or Sonic.
30fps is fine. I'd much prefer 165fps.. but stable 30fps still feels fine
Looking forward to running the PC version at 144fps!
Yh Im gonna wait too. Shame coz Playstation is Crash's home.
There is even a 480hz monitor now. Albeit, at 720p. Wonder how long until we get 480hz 1080p.
@@jorge69696 Really that's nuts haha, I hadn't heard of that! How big is it, at that res it better not be bigger than 24 inches.
@@jorge69696 1080p is getting dull. needs at least 1440p these days. 1080p especially using tn looks soo crap.
Now to wait for a Crash Bash remake.
I remember getting the multi tap out too play this in high school so many Sunday arvo memories
MK8 60 fps, Docked or portable mode.
Who else was expecting a Tom+John feature here and got supremely disappointed? I mean, TSR had it, why not this one? Especially since we're in retro territory.
Idk how to this day people are still confused about what a Remaster and what a Remake is.
Remake is when a game is being reMADE, from the ground up, new texutres, new geometry etc.
Remaster is when they take the same game and just do Mastering(audio lingo) on it. Which means same geometry but the UI is HD and the textures are only higher quality. The groundup is the same its just that they made the textures higher.
This isn't a Remaster like it says in the video, its a Remake for sure.
Not even 4k or 60 fps
these 30FPS Crash games give me a headache
But hey, still better than 20 FPS PS1 version
I'm a 120fps-or-bust PC player, but this game has some of the smoothest 30fps gameplay I've ever seen. The motion blur really does a great job.
I've played 60fps games that look less smooth than this.
@@dayko. 30fps with great motion blur can, indeed, feel smooth.
@@dayko. Well of course it's going to look less smooth compared to 60 or 144 fps. But it still looks smooth.
Like I said, I'm a huge stickler for frame rates, and even I'm impressed with the motion blur implementation.
No HDR in this game?
Team Sonic Racing was able to pull of 60fps but it still has some issues holding those frames @ 4k. I think if they wanted to keep it rock solid 1080p 60fps would have been a good way to go
I'll take the stable 30 fps over unstable 60 fps any day. But yeah they should give the option to run at a lower resolution with higher framerate.
Racing games where 60fps in the late 90’s
This is the game that got me into console, I remember back in the PlayStation days I really want to play CTR badly that I went to my friends house just to play it.
Those were the days.
When I saw the game for the first time, I really did not know that it was only 30 fps ... the great motion blur has concealed it. 60 fps would have been better in any case, but it looks really playable.
I'm playing adventure mode on hard, got 13 platinum relics so far. Sucks about the 30fps though.
I couldn't even beat the first track on hard. You are the man
30 fps racing game is a hard pass
The game looks exactly how I remember it
Well-done re-imagining of this game. I like it! But it's sad to think that the next generation of consoles such as the PS5 will likely max out running this game at 4K 60 fps, without any better visuals, if what we have seen so far in performance on the current consoles is anything to go by.
30 fps for a racing game? lol
60fps is achieved by the undisputed king of kart racers which is Mario Kart!!! Shame on you beenox, in 2019...
And on much weaker hardware.
@@shtiken Which says a lot. Very humiliating on Beenox's part.
I get what beenox was going for. Great graphics, but come on, is this the kind of game where you need pixel perfect graphics? At the speed these games move there's no point in pushing that much detail and giving up the most important thing: 60 fps.
Beenox should take notes from polyphony.
@Zaro Zaro Good point. After some thought, I have to say that I actually don't mind about the 30 FPS now and starting to enjoy that game. I would always say that graphics does not matter and take gameplay as well as performance seriously. But, this CTR remake managed to meet my expectations in terms of gameplay and constant performance.
Maybe, they will fix that issue with the PC version (just like the N. Sane and Spyro Reignited trilogies). As expected, the PC master race (as they would call it) has to make everything better. No offense to anyone here. Luckily, I have a gaming laptop so that should not be a problem.
Beenox didnt do mw remastered. They did blops 3 360/ps3 and blops 4 pc. And the spiderman titles.
I loved the origional even though it ran at 25fps so il love this. Cant wait.
Such a wonderful remake! So grateful for it. I hoped for so long that it was coming and it does not (completely) disappoint.
