Every time I listen to desire, i get something new out of it. Smoke feels like healing. There is so much chaos going on in the world, but it’s alright. It’s just smoke floating over the volcano 🌋

I get the opposite. I think it’s the carelessness of the smoke (the chaos). “It’s just smoke! It won’t cause any harm.” When volcano smoke is known to be very dangerous. But I love your analogy too!

Love the melody from Pretty In Possible in this it feels like the completion of a mechanisms grand rotation
pretty in possible and smoke are literal sisters
literally my two favourites from the album
it also makes sense how they’re the second and penultimate songs respectively
the transition between pretty in possible and smoke is amazing also
that's one of my favorite things about this absolutely brilliant album - the repetition of melodic motifs over multiple songs, but they fit just perfectly, like it's so incredibly executed

Swear to God she’s insanely talented. The album has the perfect mix of uniqueness, risk, concepts and commercial appeal. Yet Grammys slept on her when she should have been at least nominated for Album of the Year.

She's the definition of a Siren. SHE is smoke. There's a lot to like in her last 2 solo albums, but I particularly Iike the bass synths in this track, Insomnia and Door. And of course her incredible voice.

Smoke makes a more fitting final track than billions IMO.
The metallic percussion of Butterfly Net flows perfectly into Billions.
The "na-na-nas" feel like a reprisal of the "hey hey hey's" of Welcome to My Island, and the explosive ending feels like a proper send off from the allegorical island.

She'll always be indie pop, which is a good thing. And now she's much more creative in the composition, with chord changes and unorthodox sounds. While she is Charli XCX's housemate, she will never be as commercial as XCX.
