Charli is simply one of the best artists of the 2010s, with her tumblr era sisters she's one of the faces of alt pop (like Lana/Sky/Marina/Azealia early 2010s eras), but has (like them) at times played between mainstream and underground-ish circles. She was cyber witch, to clean pop brat, to motorcycle 90s bad girl, and then goth princess dance queen...and back again and a combo of each. She's unique, and has helped usher in an era with newer girls like Kim Petras and Slayyyter. I love that she's a girls girl and has collaborated with her contemporaries like Cupcakke, Tove Lo, ABRA, etc. She's just so deserving!

At the show, it was 103 degrees and Sky Ferreira performed a couple hours before and Robyn a few hours after, I was shitfaced and delirious. After watching this, almost every other week since, I can’t believe how much I didn’t appreciate it as much as I should’ve (aka I was close to death for so many factors - heat, dehydration & setlist - BUT love catching myself in the crowd every few minutes) - I have so much more of an appreciation of the curation @pitchforkmusic has and how special this weekend was

There's a really heavy feeling i get watching stuff that i know came out right before corona times. Like I'm watching the last moments in history before something like the pandemic happened and affected the culture the way it did. Its footage of people with a sense of themselves and the nature of the world they live in that can never be goten back to Innocence is lost in dimensions, and the pandemic destroyed dimensions of innocence people weren't even aware could be lost, but that's how innocence is always lost.

the same people who complain about her utilzing autotune are the same people who think chopped/screwed vocals and pitch shifts are cool when in reality all autotune is is a TOOL / effect .... just like the prior effects mentioned.... anybody who uses autotune in a live setting as she does (which is to say blatantly) is fully aware of how it sounds and the people pressed about it are entirely dimwitted... as if she's ever a) denied using it or b) lies and says it's her untreated vocals lmao

people need to learn that theres less obvious/blatant ways of pitch correction than a hard autotune like adjusting the notes by hand in newtone or melodyne. it should be obvious by now that the hard autotuned effect is a stylistic choice, and it has bothered me that people think its a crutch ever since kanye did it with 808s 11 years ago.
