- Hi everyone! Thank you all SO MUCH for the amazing support and reception on the first part of the Hard Mode series. Today we are in with our next family, the Newsons! We do run into a couple of annoying bugs in this part (that I did fix) so I am sorry about that, but hopefully you will all still enjoy this episode :)

I always put down pet pillows for toddlers. It's so very helpful, and it's not even cheating. I can tell you for sure that my own IRL toddlers were happy to sleep on a mat on the floor.

I think you had more issues because there wasn't quite enough room in the dining room/kitchen (maybe delete the island counters?), and I'd suggest moving either the pottys upstairs, or moving them a little bit further away from the toilet if you keep it in the bathroom. The routing issues would drive me insane and you kept very calm despite the errors happening.🤣
I also think that if you add pets, then you'll have more routing issues, but I don't mind what you do next 🤣🤣

Yeah I think I will move the second potty upstairs, especially once they're toilet trained and will be more or less in their room always skilling haha.
Adding pets would definitely add very much to the chaos!
I also made the Newsons' parents actual (dead) Sims in my 'hoods, though I named Gloria's husband Giles.
The fact that you have to install a bugfix mod just to play the Newsons effectively is probably one of the reasons they get rated as being so difficult.

@@TeaAddict I just like to make the family tree not begin with a bunch of sibling relations; if there are no parents it makes the top of the tree feel weird and stubby.
Also: Ginger and Melody probably have iffy chemistry because of their zodiac signs. Ginger's a Taurus and Melody's a Virgo, and that's one of the worst combinations in the game for generating chemistry, enough to fully cancel out the boost they get for being a Family Sim and a Knowledge Sim (a very good aspiration combo).
Goodness, Gavin is so sassy and bratty here. I usually appoint Ginger as the head of the house, because she's more responsible and non-selfish.
Bugs aside, things seemed to be going well for this family. Hopefully, they don't run out of money before the tots age up.

This is what I was saying with pet beds in stream the other day. Because the energy gain is so slow (unmodded) it means the bladder, hunger etc have time to go way down. I would only use them as emergency napping spots.
Just found your videos and I’m already hooked! I’ve been playing the sims since I was a kid and now I’m 37 and I have 2 boys (17 & 6) and I still love to play and watch people play! Super excited to catch a live stream of yours!!

Wow ooh wow this was stressful, but you powered through. When I play that many kids I always put a mini fridge in the room. My sims family had a 1 single kid and then she quads, and soon as they came back from University she triplets, It was pure chaos, everybody trying to get the babies and bathe them when they need food, I had to lock the door so only 1 sim could go take care of the babies. But I think we love the chaos and trying to get through the challenges. Fun series you are ding awesome and sweet that baby looks adorable.
I love the idea with the backstory for the parent. I also think this family turned out harder than the Ottomans 😂
Dont know if you are into playing/using townie sims. But...if Ginger likes male sims, you could match her with Orion Teens (Tricou). They have very similar turn ons and offs, especially if you give both Ginger and Orion GLASSESS to wear.😉
I haven't got a downtown attached to this hood... YET 😁😁🤓

Oh man what a throwback- the getparents mod was one of, if not the first mod, I ever got. Wow, I’m glad you got it sorted in the end, talk about game breaking bug! I was as confused as you that the teens refused to go to school when the other was staying at home. One would think that the logic for teens would be the same as for adults 🤷♀️ Anyway this got heated at some parts 😂 great work keeping things afloat. I must say, the way it appears to me at the moment from having watched you play with both families, it appears that the Newsons are indeed more difficult. But I’m eager to see what the numbers say at the end.
Yeah I must have gotten that mod and completely forgotten about it a long time ago too! Haha, it was so annoying, hopefully our next round will go a little better.
I know, they were definitely really difficult!! I think if you're playing a family just fresh out of the bin, these guys take the cake as the hardest, but yes we will see what happens when those Ottomas twins age up 🥴😅
Who would have thought it was the Newsons who were easier, but mainly due to Maxis bugs? xD Fun episode anyway, I am loving this challenge! I would personally have Ginger just flunk out of school and have Gallagher go for the overachiever thing, though understand why you might want it more equal (or do you lose points for bad grades?)
Ooh, well I haven't put that we lost points for bad grades yet haha, I could add it in but I do think it's unlikely! It's an idea, but I can't have Ginger flunk completely or the social worker would get her 😅 I think we'll be alright considering that there only 2 more days of toddlers anyway - it will be over quickly and then they can both get their grades up!

Loved it! This challenge is definitely making me realize how easy I have made the game for myself haha.
It was definitely chaotic but you managed it well! Looking forward to seeing how you feel at the end of this challenge as to which one is actually harder! IMO it definitely seems like you struggled a bit more with this family, but perhaps it was more the errors and stuff haha!
Oh I definitely struggled more in this episode but I feel like it's not a fair comparison yet cos the Ottomas twins are still babies 😂 when they age up... Ooh lord

I think if you wait for the school bus to leave the lot with the middle kids, then click on one of the teens to walk to school it won't give that responsibilities message. I feel like I've done this in some other family, successfully (my memory is a bit unreliable, lol)? The teens will always be late for school but at least you won't need to call the nanny, who has to be paid just for showing up.
In my game, playing the Newsons, though, I did hire a nanny just this time everyday and considered it money well spent; nannies don't teach skills and the school kids eat and toilet at school, so when they get home they can teach the toddlers. The middle kids can teach nursery rhyme to the toddlers which is such a cute interaction and once they know the nursery rhyme they can boost their own fun singing it to themselves which is also adorable. Enjoying this challenge - adding pets is more ambitious than I would dare but I just get to watch so, it's up to you.

God I need to start doing some lore building like you did cuz I just plopped the Newsons down in a trailer park apartment and that's about it rip lmao. Though at the rate I'm going the kids are probably gonna get taken away and maybe (re)adopted by Coral Oldie in my next round with them LOL.I'm too scared to use SimPE to do edits like that though sometimes LOL
Also you bringing up the critters is funny to me and made me laugh cuz in following the Newson's wants I made the mistake of letting them adopt a (pretty big too) dog LMAO. I regretted it quickly.

@@TeaAddict Update I was able to keep the kids though the chaos did not stop lmao. Though honestly Coral and Herb becoming the Newsons' new parents is still a very tempting storyline. I feel like Gloria would trust them.
I've started a new save with a clean template so I think I'm gonna try recreating your little story set up for them here for my second go at their lives (I love the effort you put omg)...and honestly I might embrace the chaos and still have them re-adopt "Buffy" if they roll the want for it LOL.

Not familiar with this family because whatever pack they come with is not one that's included in my game so this was new and fun.
Maxis toddlers get 4 days. You are too used to your custom lifespan. lol

I am really loving this series, so much so that I think I’m going to try it myself in my own time! I’d be interested in downloading this house too but not sure how Gloria’s grave would affect that. I used to get that school bus error sometimes in my usual modded gameplay too even with that fix mod, I think it might have been something to do with the After School Activities mod but I never found out for sure, it was rare enough for it to be manageable and I just got into a habit of saving before they’re due home. I was thinking of doing this challenge completely unmodded and CC-free, but now I know that that fix mod is basically essential to play with the Newsons! I also got another idea for a mod while watching this (I wish my brain would leave me alone sometimes) to make the dismiss nanny interaction instant so they don’t actually have to do an animation, similar to how HB made the form social group interaction instant, because even with mods to make nannies smarter, they’re always so ignorant and annoying to interact with! Looking forward to the next!❤️

An instant dismiss nanny mod would be FIRE haha, just make sure they put the toddler down first 😅😅

I had that same bug with this family first time I played them way back when, and again this time in my Uber hood. I found only the no social worker hack fixed it. Very annoying.

Yeah that bug was super irritating, one of those fixes I probably downloaded into my main folder years ago and forgot about!
Vanilla is 4 days for toddlers. Which is IMO way too rushed.

Why are you forcing Ginger to be the one who has to sacrifice her school to take care of the kids? Kinda unfair especially when the game is sending you signs she would prefer to focus on school. Gavin can take care of the kids + work on cars for example of a good source of income
I'm not, the idea is they take it in turns to stay home. I was just dealing some bugs in the episode. But also Ginger has the rebellious trait now which means she won't want to go to school as much as Gavin, who also wants to get into private school. Gavin is a fortune Sim, Ginger is family, it seems that her priority would be more for taking care of the kids
@WindowtoPoland a) the traits were randomised, I didn't assign it to her, but I will still make her go to school, and b) I didn't assign her the family aspiration, the game did. If it was reversed so Gavin had the family aspiration and Ginger the Fortune, their priorities would be different. So if you want to take issue with it, take issue with the game Devs.
But as I said, the idea is, they will take it in turns to look after the toddlers until they are grown up (only 2 more days) so neither of them has to flunk out of school.
I always have a problem with this one 😧 like ginger has the family aspiration and gavin is fortune, but gavin has better relationships with the twins, ginger can't even teach them skills when first played
usually I have them take turns skipping school for the first few days, since it gets easier after the twins start school. and I try to spread out the skilling between them but I don't think I'll be doing that in the future since ginge isn't interested enough
also: even though she's unemployed one of the game guides says she's supposed to be in the medical teen career
@@animekitten321 when I have played this family in the past, Ginger has always ended up skilled, happy and rich. I promise, I will do my best to get her overachieving and living a bomb life!
Medical career might be a good fit for her, I'll try to get her into that when the twins allow ☺️
I think she explains it well in the beginning of the video, why Ginger was to stay home.
