I think the actor took a new job because the last season they were phasing him out a lot more. In season 4, his screentime was more of a guest star equivalent. Once he wasn't fostering Shawn anymore, his role was taken down a lot, also the writers were pushing the students to being taught by Feeny rather than Eli and Turner. It just sucks that he didn't get a chance to say goodbye when they graduated like they did for Franky and Joey and Minkus.
I heard the reason they phased out Turner was because they wanted the show to be akin to Friends. Sucks that Mr. Williams only got like, a season of screen time.
These clips look a little haggard, this show was shot on videotape back in the day. Hopefully that won't make for storage issues down the line. This seems to have emerged as a real millennial cult favorite, I certainly have fond memories of the reruns and loved this show. Wonder if it'll take with the next generation?
