  • Spring Time! Life Hack.
    Solar Lights are great when they are new, over time the solar panel clouds over. Then their performance degrades. I found a easy and simple solution to fix cloudy solar path lights or any other solar powered device. Follow RollingTardis on Rumble rumble.com/user/RollingTardis

    I had a new solar light that I went ahead and sprayed. I am gonna start using this all the time.

      You have all ready extended the life of the light, well beyond the MFG. life expectancy.

      Set mine up for the Spring, they look as good 8 months later, as the day, I sprayed them.

    Cleaning is essential to get the dirt and grit off, cause spraying without cleaning you just cement the debris to the solar panel

    • @RollingTardis

      True, thats why, I said, Pretend, I have done that, just to keep the video moving along. Besides it is a common sense, type task.

      Scrubbing it with a magic erase pad will make it look almost clear when wet, I scrubbed mine with a magic eraser and am wondering if I should try this
      Or maybe I should get that stuff that is supposed to clear up cloudy headlights.
      I also thought about using mineral oil or bees wax furniture polish and maybe clear nail vatlenish

    Decent! I might just do that this year, and in fact, if I recall, I have a can of that on hand.

    Found this on Rustoleum site. What do you think? Good Video. Thanks
    Q:Can this be used on the solar panel of a solar post cap to waterproof it and protect from UV damage??

    Answer This Question
    A: Thank you for reaching out, Phil. While Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Clear Coat provides a weather resistant clear coating to metal or plastic surfaces, we do not recommend applying directly to the solar panel. This can hinder the performance of both the clear coat and the solar panel. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

      Well, if the solar post cap looked like the top of the solar light in the video. it will work. However, I would try to sand down the oxidation, with some very fine sandpaper, then seal with the spray.

    I wonder would this work on headlights?🤔

    • @RollingTardis
      @RollingTardis  Před 2 lety +1

      It would not, since headlight plastic is polycarbonate, just like the clear part of the solar light, now yellow and cloudy. Yard lights have an epoxy type coating to protect the solar panel. There are DIY headlight restoration kits, available at automotive stores.

    • @wildflowers1126
      @wildflowers1126 Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yes it would.
      It does. However make sure you clean them well first and tape them off and watch for overspray. I know for a fact that it helped, BIG TIME, on my 2000 Nissan Altima back in the day! 😊

    The problem is Clear Coat is like $7 . The Chinese $ store sells lights like this for $2. So three new lights instead. Unless you have like more thN 4 lights than Clear Coat

    • @RollingTardis
      @RollingTardis  Před 3 měsíci

      Seven dollars will keep higher end lights going for many years.
