After that not only did I continue to listen to music outside of America; I actively started searching for music across the globe.
The beginning of Into the New World always gives me goosebumps. Not because it’s a great song (it is, of course, but that’s not why), but because I know what the song has meant for so many in the years since.

Ah, now you've reached true LEGENDS. These ladies are the ones that got me into the world of Kpop and just like their younger sisters Red Velvet, there isn't anything they can't do. They also have 1 of my 2 ult biases, King Taeyeon.
into the new world was practiced by every 3rd gen female group and even 4th gen.
Gee won 9 straight weeks on music shows. It also started a skinny jeans craze in South Korea. It's also a song that Taeyeon hates but she still sings it because the fans love it.
The leg dance in Genie is an iconic dance move. I also love the way Taeyeon pops off after Tiffany says "DJ, put it back on"
Others you should check out are Mr Mr, You think (I know you'll love), Catch me if you can, and I Got a Boy (it will throw you for a loop). B tracks like I said before which are 2 of my top songs are Trick and Soul (which is my favorite song from them)

I'm becoming obsessed 🤣
Into the New World is one of the most regularly covered songs by Kpop girl groups (not just Dreamcatcher, although theirs is probably the best). Also, song shows up in South Korean public protests, especially around the time of impeaching President Park Geun-Hye. The beginning of the song is featured in a karaoke scene in Business Proposal. Also, while SNSD has raps, they don't have dedicated rappers like Dahyun and Chaeyoung of Twice - it is one of their weak points. Hyoyeon - who you noticed in Into the New World, does some more rapping in her solo songs, but for her song Dessert (that Dami covered) she brought in other rappers, including Soyeon. The way I learned the members of Girls Generation: The Leader: Taeyeon, The Americans: Tiffany and Jessica, The Triplets (but not really): Seohyun, Yoona, Yuri. The Tall One: Sooyoung, The Main Dancer: Hyoyeon, and Sunny. Sunny had a variety show that once featured Dreamcatcher and Dami reveals her SNSD fan kit.

The vocals girl, is Taeyeon, who became the best female soloist from a girl group ever (she is mainly concentrating in Korea & Asia as Kpop during her time hasnt crossed US yet)

From the moment Taeyeon steps forward and says the opening words of Genie, that was the moment I not only knew I was into K-Pop (this was only the 2nd song I had heard) but I knew I found my favorite singer in all of K-Pop. If you ever deep dive her solo content, her Killing Voice will likely destroy you. Enjoy 🙂

Believe it or not, according to what I read years ago, Hyoyeon wasn't given many close ups or much camera time because she wasn't considered to be up to the Kpop beauty standard of the time. Then they went to France..... after that Hyo got a lot more camera time. She's always been my bias.

Girls' Generation is my favorite Kpop group of all time. I'm loving the RWBY rep too. If you didn't know.back in the Dead Fantasy days Monty did an animated cover of Gee with Dead or Alive and Final Fantasy ladies. Also, Blake's outfit when she was spying with Sun on the White Fang in Vale was inspired by Yuri's outfit in The Boys MV. As a sone and RWBY fan, I lost my mind and fangirled hard lol.

Sunny is my bias. It's all about personality with them. Taeyeon and Tiffany are my wreckers. Jessica had left by 2015 when I discovered them. I think she's great, but I never got to see her in real time within the group, so that's a bit sad. I did get to see her reality show with her sister (from my og favorite group before DC, f(x)), and it really endeared her to me.
I have a feeling the bias journey will be a full ride with them lol

Genie is one of my favorite songs of theirs! Paparazzi (a Japanese track) is my ultimate favorite track of theirs, though.
Some of the Girls Generation songs inspired Red Velvet's sound, so I'm pleased to see that you enjoy the GG stuff, that's a pretty good indicator that you'll enjoy RV as well.

As for "Run Devil Run", including it in this selection isn't the best idea. There is a story version of the video and it is linked, albeit loosely, to "Oh!". These two MVs are also very important as they practically document THE concept change of SNSD.
Was not informed about that as I know nothing about them. Can't wait to see that story during a deep dive that most likely will happen!

Its almost 5th Gen now but nobody really beat her as a GG who turned into a soloist. Korean critics and seniors dont consider her as idol now but an artist beyond Kpop.

The early stuff, I don't think too many warnings are necessary...but there are some required later on.
Taeyeon's voice is the one that GRABBED ME, KIDNAPPED ME AND DRAGGED ME DOWN THE K-POP RABBIT HOLE in 2015... Can't help but to feel so grateful to her for that. If not for Tae, I might never have come to know about DreamCatcher (my Ult Group), Red Velvet (Wendy is my Ult Bias), Mamamoo, (G)I-DLE, Twice...on and on and on...good lord.

I found another Song that i like from them KIRA KIRA czcams.com/video/G3Jx-FA8U5E/video.html, after listening to those songs i asked myself who is the best in Asia. I searched on youtube for who is the best Girl Group in Asia and i found 2 Groups, SNSD with Gee and Girls Generation with Run Devil Run. As you know both are one and the same, but i didn't know that at the time i just read the title of the video and didn't looked at the comments. I loved both songs and i watched each MV at least 15 times. After some time i recognised one of the members, Sooyoung the one with the Yellow Jeans in Gee was also in Run Devil Run. From that point i knew they were the same Group. I was really bad with faces at the time, but i recognised one Member so i wanted to do the same with the other members and i found this kind of video guess snsd's eyes czcams.com/video/-xu8uJ90TWA/video.html. After that i recognised all of them and watched so many variety shows with them. I have no bias in the Group, i love them all equally for different reasons but they are the best together in a variety show.
