This whole album feels like them planted firmly in their box and being on autopilot
It sounds very similar to Horseshoes and Handgranades, so i do not feel they are stepping out of their box, personally.

Childhood? I was 18 when "Dookie" came out. I was broken up that Kurt Cobain had died and that album was really a salve for the grief. So catchy and punchy. A punk rock band on a big label like Nirvana was. I kept telling everyone that they were the Second Coming of The Ramones and "Dookie" was the one of the best punk albums ever. No one cared, until they played Woodstock and became the biggest band in the world. Rock on, Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre!

@@ImagineBeingArtemis they're my all time favorite band. Probably why I expect more out of them after their phenomenal run from 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours thru 21st Century Breakdown. Those albums had just the perfect evolution where each album built off of what came before but expanded on it musically as well as lyrically. Everything after Breakdown has just been Green Day on autopilot and its such a bummer to watch their career just sit at cruising altitude for 14 years
