For anyone who constantly has nostalgia goggles about old school yugioh, this is basically it. Both players have decks that are a basically random assortment of cards, one player follows the rules, and the other keeps making crap up so they complain to an authority figure to settle disputes. It's like an unintentional time capsule.
This is accurate that's how it also worked at the high school lunch table
I mean, true... But I would argue, that's partly because we were kids. I'd bend the rules with bullshit, knowingly inconsistent interpretations (and translations if I had japanese cards), but only if I knew I could get away with it/the other person didn't have a strong enough grasp of the rules to call me on it. You're not going to get away with that with 2 adults who know the rules (unless they're just toying around like in this video).
Granted, a consequence of the game coming out in an early stage internet was that there wern't as many sources you could use to sus out oddly written or confusing cards. So these kinds of debates probably were more common, even amongst players who had a strong grasp of the rules.
That blank card could've been OP but Alec keep it something reasonable which made it exciting.
Nuking the field was fair? He made them do exactly what he needed to crawl out of losing at the time. 😆

@@ndt7379 it was the fairest thing to do for nuking the field. He could have added damage to let him win the game for each card destroyed
He choose a powerful effect for a catch-up mechanic, rather than just saying "this card deals 8000 points of effect damage." or "banish your entire deck." or "I play up to 5 cards from my extra deck ignoring their summon conditions."
I'm glad they did a little trading to make the duel more exciting
I've got to say that Paul's editing has become way better and so has his comedic timing and cuts. This has been a hilarious video, even if I don't know how to play yugimon

I love how he uses a blank card and makes up whatever effects he wants...but when Larry plays fairly with his crap cards he says "this ain't right"...then follows up with "every turn is another chance to interpret the cards" lol

Honestly the fake stuff throws up some of the funniest shiz, from the 19th century English to the straight up poorly named cards that aren't even close @UltimateBaseballKid who I'm fairness is ultimate with 5000 ATK for no sacrifice but doesn't look like a MLB player or a child

Shame this ended so quickly, larry just had a deck that actually worked together fairly well. Would definitely love to see more of these, I had a huge box of fake cards as a kid that are unfortunately gone at this point. All I remember is all the different variants of summoned lord exodia with infinite attack

the fact that he didn't think about just having the blank card be " when played, this card acts as creator of light " ( creator of light when plays ends the duel , the opponent can't win, and the player wins. all of those effects. )
