The acting on this episode was amazing. Otto managed to usurp the throne, but traumatized his family for it. it's similar to the dynamic of Tywin and his children
The acting this season has just been out of this world. Everyone is firing on all cylinders.

The dragon flying over the beach was Laenor's dragon, Seasmoke.
Notice last episode when Helaena said she was afraid of the rats she was sewing. She was already sewing Jaehaerys funeral blanket. In this episode Jaehaerys is wrapped in it during the parade.
Alicent has a 4th child. Daeron Targaryen. He rides the dragon Tessarion. He grew up in Old Town with Otto's brother. In the book, he and Jace are the same age.

Daemon's actor is Matt Smith. He is known for playing a young Prince Phillip in The Crown, and he played one of the many Doctor Who's.😊

I'm such a Daemon stan. Unapologetic about it too. They are all war criminals, you just have to pick a favorite. lol I was in the books where he's more ruthless, Matt Smith even gives him a softer vibe.
Yeah I'd say that there are no real saints on this show, well especially near the top of the power structure. People tend to romanticize their favorites though.
I think it’s because daemon would not be able to walk about the castle unnoticed, the rat catchers and gold cloak are normally strolling around so they would not be seen as suspicious

I have no love for Otto either but the actor Rhys Ifans was 🔥 in this episode. So was Emma D’arcy , Matt Smith, and Tom Glynn-Carney. All next level actors. Great episode.
The brothers fighting each other goes back to what Cregan Stark said in episode 1. “Duty is sacrifice, it eclipses all things, even blood”. Both brothers believe in their duty and oath. They died upholding both, neither are brainwashed, they’re honourable.
I mean technically they are brainwashed by customs and traditions

Small tidbit I’m sure the reason why the handmaiden Elinda didn’t just flee when the fight between the twins first started is because she would never just abandon her grace without order to do so. As soon as she got the order she took off and fulfilled it tho
Of all the dragons on this show and GoT, I love the voice of Caraxes the most. Almost like he verbally salivates and snickers at the same time. He literally sends shivers up my spine.
I had an ex-girlfriend that sent shivers up my spine too,but,her voice was much more menacing than Caraxes and she tried to murder me-TWICE. LOL.
As a viewer, I really liked Viserys and I think he was a solid King who had peace his entire reign, but as a father, he was terrible. In Rhaenyra's case he turned a blind eye and never disciplined and taught her about duty, in all the other kid's cases he just outright ignored them. I understand why Aegon bashed the hell out of the lego set. The gold coin was one of the coins Aemond and Cole were using on the map, Blood swiped the coins off the map and one fell and rolled under the table, letting Aemond know they were in his room.
The scene with the twins hit me harder than you guys... if you didn't know, they actually are twins... I say this only because so many shows fake twins with camera tricks and editing... but I grew up watching these brothers one was on an English farm show called Emerdale and the other one was on a legendary tv show called shameless... yall have a USA rip off but you absolutely need to react to the English shameless because it's so far on the completion opposite scale of culture to you guys it will be insane viewing hahaha great as always roll on episode 4!!

I think people misunderstood the position of Hand of the King and conflate it with Master of Whisperers.
In US government terminology...
The Hand of the King is a mix of the Chief of Staff, Joint Chiefs, etc. who serves to further the Will of the King/President.
Master of Whisperers would be the CIA/FBI/etc

Rhaenys had to bust out of the dragon pit. Alicent had told her they needed her dragon and they would have killed her for not bending the knee. I don't care how many people got killed as long as I got me and my dragon out.
And that choice will have consequences.

You've got to remember Otto wanted to wipe out Rhaenyra's family, including her 2 toddlers Viserys and Aegon, right after Viserys II died. So he is no better.😊
Still, not a dumb plan like Cole's.
He had the moment of surprise. Nobody knew about the usurping b4 Rhaenys escaped her rooms.
That is the correct thing to do.
They got so upset over they killing of the baby, but let's be honest this is war and they basically plan to slay everyone in opposite sides family including the youngest children
Yes and by doing the backhanded things he was doing, Otto is really the one, along with his daughter Alicent, who put all this violence and probable even more upcoming violence into play. Just because he acts and plays innocent doesn't mean he is. But he has plenty of company in that too.
I usually hate when the writers add a bunch of non GRRM dialogue but "to indulge the darkness you keep sheathed inside you as a blade" is a pretty sick line.

The awards will follow for the script and acting for this season. The actors, for that scene, playing Daemon and Rhaenyra not for the first time, are beyond magnificent. Matt Smith and Emma D'arcy are totally believable in their characters. I hope we don't get the reverse of John Snow and Dani in the end.

Again, congrats on Brooke for remembering the small details everyone glosses over such as yes, indeed, Rhaenyra and Helaena are half-sisters. People tend to forget it's just one big dysfunctional family.

I think Cole strategies are pretty sound. For instance, killing the rat-catchers makes sense because they are the only ppl that know the secret tunnels in the castle. Also placing the bodies discourages anyone else to join or even attempting to sneak in. As far as sending a twin to dragonstone, you are sacrificing one soldier to hopefully stop a war that will kill many more. Both in the book and the show he gets caught by coincidence or else he would have been successful.

That dragon is sea smoke. He used to be ridden by Lainore before Lainore went elsewhere. Eventually, Adam will become his rider in the next episode or two it is why sea smoke keeps following Adam and it is why sea smoke has been so moody is he’s lonely and he’s seeking Adam to ride him.
Performance by Otto actor in this episode was outstanding.

Sorry this might be long. HEY Octobers!! SO glad to be watching this with you. This cast is FRIGGIN amazing! Personally I like this show more that GOT. I think because it's kind of smaller in scale VS the entire realm. My fav characters are Queen Rhaenyra (QUEEN MY QUEEN) she is strong but has a heart and I think she is very smart, Lord Larys is just so sneaky and shady I like him, Princess Rhaenys (The Queen that never was) is on my top five, I want more of her on screen, so graceful and amazing, and Prince Aemond is a STUD. He is graceful, kind of scary, elegant, strategic, sly, he moves kind of like a breeze. I love to hate him.
Daemon may be arrogant, but he is correct nevertheless. And they will pay for not listening to him.

yes the men want to win and they know that no amount of talking will avoid a war. so now she just chased away her best fighter , most experienced war dragon and dragon rider. not to smart. the same thing happens now people act like war can be faught without calateral unwanted damage. if you want to win you need to act ,and do your best to avoid mistakes but you must act. deamon knows it and the peaceful ,smart women think they can wage war with words.
Just as Alicent has been a pawn, Aegon and his siblings have been too and far worse. Remember Alicent didn’t stay 16 forever. She became an adult and and a mother.
I don't think the fighting pits are in existence because of Aegon. Also it's not his bastards fighting, was just one of his kids laying around the worst parts of king's landing from what I can tell.

I really like how you keep in mind Rhaenys killig all them folks. Childishly simple plan? Perhaps. Brilliant? Absolutely. I think this plan is funny because it only failed because of something he couldn't account for. A trend, maybe! Though on a certain level you might expect someone would notice seeing the same guy twice too close together.

The scene with Otto and aegon and criston cole arguing etc. made me appreciate Otto more than I had before and made me dislike him a little less
I feel for daemon... Both him and rhaenyra were correct in there argument... The only thing her and her father didn't trust him... But he didn't do the things they don't trust him for... I believe him... He hasnt actually lied to anyone in his family... Not even once... Check the show

Otto did amazing did season. He's smart and it sucks he's for the other side. But all actors this season stepped it up so much on acting
I don't like Otto but you have to exploit it. You have to play the game and get the people on your side.
Also innocent people die in war. Don't go to war if you don't want people to die. It's a son for a son. If I was Rhaenyra I'd burn the whole castle down which would have results in that death plus the rest. Oh well 🤷♀️

That's the thing Daemon doesn't lie. He will tell you the hard truth no matter how it makes you feel. He settled down a lot since being with Rhaenyra. if he wanted to use her or kill her he could have done it a long time ago. And Viserys did pass succession to Rhaenyra because Daemon f-d up. So there was truth in what he said.
