Hi Jay, I would definitively like a video about the benefits of Ubuntu Pro, as well as a short video of upgrading Ubuntu Server from 22.04 to 24.04, which in fact is not so complicated, but just to know if there are some hints or problems when doing so. Thanks a lot, your videos are always appreciated!
For Ubuntu Pro - it's free for personal use on 5 machines. Neat!
@@d3stinYwOw Great! Good to know. Thanks
Thanks fort the link for your Udemy course. Purchased it! Awesomeness.
Great video on the server.
Thanks, Jay. As usual, a clear video for us to follow. Could you do a video on setting up a free VPN on the server?
Can you do a quick contrast on which server to choose Debian or Ubuntu ?
Yes, please make a video about Ubuntu Pro
Can we use microstack as hypertension for 3 Node cluster your value able reply good guide for me
Hi! is anyone using 24.04 in production already or will you wait for the .1 update?
So with this partition configuration it will leave 15Gb just hanging as unallocated space? And 2Gb for /boot partition isn't it much?
I would use a better hardware version of the vm, TPM and a few more features. New CPU features are always good.
Jay, would you consider making a video regarding SELinux on Ubuntu?
If you encrypt the disk can you enter password remotely to decrypt it so it can boot? Since it is encrypted and not booted you can’t ssh unless it is booted already. So you would need console access to decrypt but I think I read there may be another utility you could install to decrypt disk before boot.
Without remote console access, it's a no. There is an option if your hardware doesn't have the option to use Pikvm for remote console access.
You can use TPM to automatically decrypt on boot or use dropbear-initramfs to be able to SSH into the server before boot and enter the password
I've put the server on a VM but I can't log into it remotely. Is that because of the install being in the VM? If I use the IP I get timed out. If I try local host, I get "permission denied, please try again"
Any thoughts?!
Hi Jay, how can install kernel 6.5 on new ubuntu? Unfortunately, I searched the Internet but to no avail :/
Very timely, I was thinki of going the EL route, but the kernels there are ancient
Thanks, Jay. Btw, your Linux Essentials Course on Udemy is awesome! 👍
Awesome, I’m glad you liked it! Please leave a review if you haven’t done so already 😊
It has a new look now.
Proxmox VE 8.2 full tutorial and new features, please 🙏
I painfully cobbled together my last LTS desktop to install on Raid 0 (for creative editing). Later I learned that Ubuntu Server includes this ability out of the box. Any chance you might make a video showing this, and then how to install the rest of the software to turn it in to Ubuntu Desktop?
That’s a very good point! That needs to be covered for sure, I just have to find a good place to slot it in. Thanks!
I also would love to see a video of getting Ubuntu desktop running. I have an old laptop running Win10 that I want to give new life running Linux desktop
What is the best practice? Should I use LVM in VMs, or plain FS such as EXT4? If say PVE is running ZFS. Thank you.
pls also start doing aws videos with linux.
It would be nice if you guys included "Virtual" or "Bare Metal" when you talk about doing installs on your video descriptions.
I'd say this is a bare metal install that just happens to be in a VM. I've done bare metal Ubuntu and VM Ubuntu installs, and nothing was really different here. The "you're in a VM, things get weird" stuff comes later in the setup process, IMHO, which was out of scope for this video.
You look like @apalrdsadventures
You watch Jay's videos for education and career development....
I watch Jay's videos to learn how to groom beards.
We are not the same. My man Jay should make a tutorial for men's grooming
could you please please make a video to remove chromeos and install linux. I begin to really hate chromeos
Just read the mrchromebox documentation and setup a UEFI and boot any Linux OS with pendrive
