The music video, directed by Julian Doyle, was conceived by Terry Gilliam and Kate Bush. The video features Canadian actor Donald Sutherland playing the role of Wilhelm Reich, and Bush playing the part of his young son, Peter. - Hudba

I opened it. There was no one there. I heard a voice saying hello and I looked down. Standing down there was a very small Kate Bush."

According to Sutherland, he was approached about doing it and turned the offer down, but a few days later, Kate herself appeared at his hotel room door to try and change his mind, which obviously succeeded.

I'm a bit ashamed many of my friends were kate bush fans for many years yet i waited for one of her song to become trendy again so i can finally get into her 😭❤️ but it feels like a blessing too.

I was privileged to have been the production designer on this video: My late father created the 'Cloudbuster' and I designed and had the laboratory built in a Wimbledon studio. Was great having Donald Sutherland on my set!
Went on to do another film about Willhelm Riech a few years later called 'It Can Be Done' where I had to build yet another Cloudbuster, this one slightly more accurate though.

This song probably saved my life. This year started bad and it was only blood, sweat and tears. If there was a chance for pleasure I was caught in my dark bubble. I have so many nice people around me but I could not decide who I should bother with my issues. Then I heard this song on the radio and something changed. I listened to it for hours, I cried for hours and it gave me the power to be honest to everyone who asks me, how I am. I knew, the people around me would support me and they do. Since I start every morning with the words "I just know that something good is gonna happen", things are really getting better. Thank you, Kate Bush!

Here because I found out that Donald Sutherland has sadly passed at the age of 88. I've always admired the work ethic of the Sutherland family & have long enjoyed Donald & Kiefer as actors. Donald clearly had talent beyond measure on the small & big screen & was very good at entertaining audiences whatever role he played. Rest in peace sir & thank you so very much for all the joy your talent has brought. Thoughts & condolences are with Donald Sutherland's family, friends, colleagues & everyone else who knew & loved him.

At one of my lowest points in my life, after a horrible mental breakdown I remember listening to this song while the tears rolled down my cheeks. Since then this song is the one I always seek out when my soul is crushed and I’m full of despair. If you're new to Kate Bush and discovered her recently through TV shows, you should know this song and video is based on a true story. It's about the eccentric scientist Wilhelm Reich. He had a far too complicated life to go into here and he wasn't well man but he was harmless. He may have been bipolar or schizophrenic but he devoted his intellect to helping humanity as best he could. His orgone machine, depicted here, was his undoing. He ran afoul of the FDA, got into legal troubles, was arrested and ordered by a court to destroy this machines and burn his own books. No, really. I wish I was making that up. He died in prison of a heart attack a year later. Kate Bush got the idea for this song from the book written by his son, Peter, whom she plays in the video.

Hah! I think you’re Remembering the 80s very different to what it was. Songs like Radio Ga Ga and Video Killed The Radio Star weren’t written for no reason. Bands like Adam and the Ants practically needed video in order to stay popular (not dissing Adam and the ants, but it’s just how it was)!

@@Fitzroyfallz Sure there was also a lot of trash. But Kate always put a lot of effort in her videos, also directing some of them and having longer narratives like The Line, the Cross and The Curve for The Red Shoes.
If anyone watches The Handmaids Tale this song was in an episode that turns everything,hope to a hopeless place. I love Kate Bush and when this came on watching this episode, chills. So happy that her music is being brought up front for more people to experience her brilliance.

My sociology professor always plays music before class, relevant to her lecture. Was playing Kate’s Running Uphill. Took my breath away. I assumed it was contemporary. I am a child of the 80s… how did I miss Kate Bush?? So grateful to explore her work now. ❤

I discovered Kate Bush through the Hounds of Love album when I was 11 in 1984. It was the year my father died suddenly and Cloudbusting helped me through. Seeing Kate play live at the Hammersmith Apollo in 2014 from the middle of the 4th row was so emotional. I thought she wouldn't play Cloudbusting when the concert ended ..but she came back and sung it for the encore...an experience I will never forget.
Hounds of Love was released in the days well before Spotify when we would listen to whole albums. I always imagined the story she was telling on the Hounds of Love from start to finish and her live performance was exactly how I imagined - "And Dream of Sheep" was so powerful - in fact, many powerful moments in that show that I will always feel privileged to have experienced.
Kate's music got me through the toughest time of my life and will always be in my heart
