    In Hawaiian mythology, Maui actually kills an eel and buries it, then a coconut tree grows from it. Sin off for animation being accurate with it

    • @heartoflinnea2131
      @heartoflinnea2131 Před 4 lety +169

      That line reminded me of this old book I had as a kid, in which an eel meets a human girl and they fall in love. Despite the rest of the village trying to prevent them from meeting, they keep meeting.
      The girl grows older (she was like 8 in the beginning) and is still in love with the eel. Eventually the rest of the village realises that the only thing to do is kill the eel and when the girl goes to save it, the eel tells her to let them kill it, that she should bury it's head and it'll turn into a coconut tree
      Similar story no? (How the characters look and wears would in my mind also place it in the Hawaii area)
      But do remember that this is a KIDS BOOK... That is a bit messed up...

      Also, have you ever watched this channel before? Jeremy points out every ex machina in every single movie that has ever had an ex machina... which is most of them because hollywood can't help themselves.
      Sarcasm=saying something in a tone of voice that conveys that you (and everyone else) should be able to tell that an ex machina is an ex machina.

    I would have taken 1 sin off for the hair budget in this movie. Maui's hair, and especially Moana's, were given their own budget and R&D with the CGI department to make it look as realistic as possible. Anybody who has ever done work with 3D animation knows just how difficult it is to pull that off, you need top-of-the-line machines and processors to get particles and primitives to behave and animate in that way. I believe Brave and Rapunzel had to use similar software to make the hair happen for those characters as well.

      Also, how many people going to disney movies are going to do research on mythologies contained... IN A DISNEY MOVIE? Keep in mind that majority of people that have access to disney movies either aren't Polynesian enough to know the mythology or pedantic enough to check if a children's movie publisher known for coming up with bullshit mythologies actually use real mythos for the first time in company history? THIS IS DISNEY! The only people that watch this garbage are 12 years or under girls, their parents, and young adult women that haven't found the "serial killer documentary" channel on their cable yet. Once again, THIS. IS. DISNEY.

He's great at his job, because his job is to be a nitpicky asshole who points out mistakes in logic or background setting that you wouldn't notice without looking for them... i.e. HIS JOB IS TO BE FUNNY. CinemaSins is a COMEDY CHANNEL.
      HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
      You realize that not everyone will watch things that they're the target audience for, right? Especially since Disney is a CHILDREN's movie producer. Parents aren't in the market that Disney aims for, and yet parents watch it. Also, it's a well-known movie, he's going to get requests for things. As an asex, if I did a similar idea for "adult films", that doesn't mean I'm into them. It means that people request certain ones, and I get ad revenue for what gets requested. Basic business 101, go where the demand is.
      HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm sorry, do you really think that Disney has a diverse target market for children's movies? Spoiler alert, they don't. It's either children or children's parents. If you're not under the age of 12 with estrogen in your body, and you're not a parent to someone that fits that description... YOU"RE NOT DISNEY'S TARGET MARKET!

      @deadersurvival4716 Před 3 lety +2

      @Swag Monke ...I never said that was the only group that watched this. In fact, if you actually worked on your literacy, you might realize that I admitted that A) he likely did it because of requests, B) parents have to watch the same movies as their little runts, and C) young adult women will also watch this garbage prior to them making a discovery of what cable channel they can go to for serial killer documentaries.
      Furthermore, if you worked on your reading comprehension, you'd realize that I said that Disney's TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC is 12 year old girls who wanna grow up to be princesses.
      As far as this video's viewing audience, you don't have to like, or care about, the movie in order to like the video... because it's a comedy video, about someone's nitpicking a children's movie by a company that's well known for their thinking route of "we like surprises more than consistency".

They don't specify the friends body was never recovered, just that the father couldn't save him. Hi! So, I have a bit of what I hope is constructive criticism. I feel that some of the sins aren't deserved, and usually that's fine, but I decided to say something because these sins in particular are slightly problematic. Let's take the eel guts to coconut trees sin - yeah, it makes no sense from a scientific point of view, but it's still an established part of Polynesian myth. It would be a lot like giving Shrek a sin every time a fairy tale creature shows up because we all know those don't exist. I personally wouldn't have much of an issue with that, but the problem is that Moana gets a bit of that treatment when other movies based on more familiar mythologies don't. I feel it's a bit unfair to effectively criticise the culture instead of the film. Overall, though, this was a really nice video and I enjoyed it a lot.

    Moana quite _literally_ yelled out loud that this was the current location of the heart. Fairly certain it doesn’t take a genius to figure out that it’s there when you have a -princess- daughter of the chief shout “COME AND GET IT!” after loudly talking about the heart.

      TidalShores It’s vegetarian but not vegan. Vegetarians still use animal products and things that were produced with the help of animal products, thy just won’t eat meat. Pescatarians are like vegetarians but they still eat fish and shellfish. Vegans don’t eat/use anything that came into contact with an animal (no leather chairs, no wool socks, no eggs, no honey, etc.)
