    In Finland, we have those kind of abloy disc detainers on our doors! And Abloy is a Finnish company.

    I remember when my locksmith cut the keys for that Wilka, it is his personal private profile that our fire department and I believe also the police station uses here (not sure about the police station though but I know the FD guys have it) While cutting the keys he was laughing an evil laugh all the time. Got me a bit scared! :D

    You can theoretically get feel on disc detainers, but it takes forever, for you have to get lucky enough to align false or true notches along the block bar. Once that's done, keep moving discs until you get more notches until the lock unlocks, in which case, all the notches are deep and true. It's a long process, but it can theoretically work, and I'm going to try it once I get the disk rotating tool and a disc detainer lock, specifically the Abloy PL350... well, there are the side pins, so that adds possibly hours and hours of work...

    love your intros ...this one was sweet ...do you do yourself or you outsource to another company that does after effects and such ...im pretty knowledgeable and most intros are pretty easy for any graduate in the field ...but either way, I enjoy videos with changing intros ...keeps things fresh and current (at the time of upload) ...but I tip my hat towards you for keeping production value pretty high for the context, but not too over done where you appear pompous ...I hope I was clear on that statement but Either way ...you have a subscriber from me for life ! Thanks for your vast knowledge and level headed approach. I have always loved picking locks since I was a kid ...i even picked a lock once with liquid nitrogen !!! a technique that does not rely on how many pins / side pins / laser engravings !!! ....pretty brut and sloppy but hell of a lot of fun with science !!! ...I have even experimented with thermite ! ...yea that will def melt through most metals ....just make sure that the "drip" stays as horizontal as possible ...otherwise you might just drip right on your foot !!! hahah good times ...its been years since I picked but by seeing your videos and seeing what is out there nowadays ...I am in awe and kinda refueled my love of the sport. Thanks again for your wonderful video ...hope you good fortunes in the future pal.

      LK1200- the "nuclear lock", as it was designed to be used to secure nuclear warheads, and Hi-Shear's only lock product. Only made one year; don't ask me why.

    This may be a stupid question but shouldn't bumping work on most pin tumblers?

    • @krissisk4163
      @krissisk4163 Před 8 lety

      Bumping works along the same principals as kinetic rakes. It's just a little faster since you don't have to reinsert your tool after every attempt. So you can make a lock bump resistant the same way you make a lock rake resistant. In theory any pin tumbler can be raked. In practice your odds or raking a lock with security pins or even standard pins with crazy bitting and/or tight tolerances are astronomical.

    @2:38 "I judge the difficulty of a lock by how many people have made videos of them." What is the rationale behind this statement?

    • @bosnianbill
      @bosnianbill  Před 7 lety +2

      There are LOTS of videos showing how to open EASY locks, like Master, Brinks, Kwikset, etc. You will find far fewer making videos of BiLock, Medeco, Assa Combi, Ruko D12, etc. That is because those locks are damn near impossible to pick, and when you DO manage to pick them open, it takes an extraordinary amount of time and skill. You don't just "pop" them open. It takes a lot of manipulation, skill and yes, luck.

    • @AlexMerritt0000
      @AlexMerritt0000 Před 7 lety

      That definitely makes sense; picking a lock that requires an hour would be pointless as a video. One thought is also, some might not record videos of them doing it, but instead post photos of it being picked and describing the method in detail they used to do so, such as on forums.

    • @cardiffpicker1
      @cardiffpicker1 Před 6 lety

      bosnianbill have you ever done an ingersoll 10 lever rim cylinder or padlock?
      They aren't impossible but will probably break some stuff before you get it open.

  • @krissisk4163
    @krissisk4163 Před 8 lety +3

    I may be in the minority, but I don't believe in "unpickable". Ludicrously difficult to pick, sure. Absolutely impossible to pick? Nah. Given enough time, enough skill, and enough creativity I'm convinced any lock can be beat. Maybe (probably) not be me. Maybe even not by Bosnianbill or Kokomolock or any other current CZcams picker, but sooner or later someone somewhere will figure them all out.

    • @wb5mgr
      @wb5mgr Před 7 lety +1

      They have, it's called the angle grinder and the cutting torch... Pretty much can remove any unpickable lock 😉

    • @twistedcreator3342
      @twistedcreator3342 Před 7 lety +2

      There are certainly unpickable locks, in fact there are some that are specifically designed to destroy lock picks or sequence locks that you can not pick the damn things open if you dont have the proper sequence.

    • @wb5mgr
      @wb5mgr Před 7 lety

      +Kris Sisk actually when your in a hurry destroying some hardened locking systems is actually quite a challenge. At least without having to bring out the torch or the grinder. Not everyone has time to pick a lock to get in a door...
