TOY SAFETY DISCLAIMER: Not all of the toys I use in today's video are going to be safe for all ferrets. Anyone with ferrets that are prone to chewing should be extremely cautious with rubber toys and fabric toys with loose ends. My girls are non destructive and choose to stash their toys instead of chewing them BUT that doesn't mean they'll never chew them. I still keep basic toy safety in mind and always:
    1. Check toys regularly for signs of damage, and if damage is found I immediately throw the toy away.
    2. Only allow my ferrets access to their toys when they're supervised.
    3. NEVER keep toys in my ferret's cage!!

Just found the channel. Still broke my heart seeing Nova's favorite treat taken

  • @heatherakagamermom7790

I love this. I’m gonna do this for Christmas for my babies. I’m gonna put their Xmas toys in it and let them go ham. Then I can alter the toys often.

Thanx for your vids! Enjoyed the way ya think like a Fert and how you imagine how the critters look at the world!! People joke about kids at X-mas ignoring the toy and playing with the Box it came in . . . You made the Box the toy and we can see how much they love it! I couldn't stop giggling about the fert 'voice-overs'! The choice of the neutral, 'Data'-like voices made real how I imagine ferrets might talk . . . sort of a matter of fact, going about their business and living in the moment! Lots of passion but no real extreme emotions or lasting grievance. I feel confident in saying this 'cause I've witnessed "intense sibling bullying", only to observe the same siblings . . . a short time later, curled up around each other and asleep with 'noses and tos-es' in the air!
We have 2 totes with toys that we change out at random intervals. Sometimes we'll dump the boxes out on the floor and mix them up with the current toys in play cycle, then gather up a box to be put up (after a washing for cloth toys). Tip - after washing, grab a current cage towel to put with the toys into the dryer. Then the freshly washed toys will have a familiar scent. We also wash cage linens weekly and do the same thing . . . save out a towel or a hanging sack to throw into the dryer so their scent carries over. Some folks roll their eyes when I explain this, however over the years, we've seen the critters diving into the fresh washed cage linens, and visitors comment about the lack of a 'ferret smell' in our house, so I'll go with what has worked!!
BTW - I just got laughed at for saying 'cage linens', until I pointed out that if that's so funny, then we can wash the ferret stuff with the same 'linens' from the guest room (where someone's parents will stay for Thanksgiving) . . . (Insert Sound of Crickets here) . . .
Anyhow, enjoy viewing your stuff! Thanx for the way you are presenting Ferret info!

They definitely seemed to love it!
We used that for a dog box before and it was a blast for them! Funny story: we actually bought that same paper for litter by mistake, and when we got home, we were like- Oops, guess we’ll try it. With they started laying and sleeping in it, we realized it’s make a great dig box lol

I don't forget my pets birthdays... I forget what the current date is
(also we've never made up birthdays for our rescues and I only know one of my horses off the top of my head and that isn't even the one I bred so let's just ignore my statement entirely this year I completely missed my brothers birthday. its fine, he's forgotten mine before when we were still living in the same house)

What kind of chew stick is that? Where did you get it? I’ve been looking for some good chew sticks for my ferrets

It's a Performatrin Ultra Limited Natural Beef Esophagus: www.petvalu.com/ca/product/limited-natural-beef-esophagus/FCM04449CA
That's a canadian brand so it might not be available to you, but I know you can get similar products in other brands. I almost guarantee your local pet store will have something similar

lol by the time I watched this i literally had crinkle paper IN my amazon cart. How many pounds or kilos or whatever was this amount that you used appx? I have been hard pressed to figure out how much to order and when I ordered the biodegradable packing peanuts I.... umm.. ordered too many (like three boxes too many) (apparently they are very light)

how are the ferrets with that beef stick? Is it safe to leave it around for them? I got a constant young chewer and i'm looking for something

    • @FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets
      @FriendlyNeighborhoodFerrets  Před 2 lety

Nova LOVES those sticks! I leave them around but I keep an eye on them to make sure no one chokes. If you get them I'd recommend not keeping them in the cage when you aren't around, but they're super good for chewers. Nova's my only ferret that chews things she's not supposed to and since I started her on them she's been a lot better
