Chevy and George were very confident. The confidence Chevy showed leading was huge. Both horses keeping their heads down shows they were not worried. The area was beautiful. Steve I imagine your very pleased.
It doesn't get any better than that Dad and Daughter time with two beautiful horses... Chevy did so well he is a lovely soul.. totally balanced in every way.. Due to fantastic training on your part Steve..
😮😂😅
Charlotte, you are such a sweetheart. So kind and friendly to strangers, for example. I’m sure your parents had a lot to do with all that, and it’s so wonderful to see how lovely your relationship is with them, bonding over horses, etc. God bless you and your family!
Chevy is my favourite. He moves so straight and balanced. What an amazing baby❤.
I had my horse for 23 year, so there is a history. We manage well, but I did many faults. But with time he became a real peach anyway. BUT I have been staring into the poor horse´s eyes for more than 20 years. Today I said to my self: don´t look him in the eyes but look at his feat... repeatidly - I had to remind myself. He is nice. But he got nicer. The message got through, and he was so calm even there was a storm. I got a bit closer to being the alpha, that was so obvious. Thank you! I am so impressed and also convinced. It´s like a tune. The notes are exact. Steve is spot on.
You must be so happy 😁🥰
Two wonderful horses! And the two people are pretty wonderful as well.
Two beautiful well handled horses that take everything in their stride due to Steve and Charlotte's expertise. How lovely to go out hacking together in such stunning countryside 🐴❤️😊
Going to the mountains is the best training for a young horse. After a month of (almost) daily riding in the wilderness, they are sound, confident and have learned to trust a human and we them, because we depend on eachother for survival. This is grizzly country and when a horse smells it's first bear it takes notice. We have wonderful experiences here in the Rockies of Alberta...a bit more rugged than Wales but just as beautiful. Wow, George is like a rocking chair. Chevy is a very smart fella; worth his weight in gold. Nice hands Charlotte! That was a beautiful little canyon and grotto you rode through! Chilly!
And what do you do when there is a bear? Do you avoid the bear if possible, wait til the bear goes by, or just continue onwards calmly?
I imagine it depends a lot on the horse and the bear and the terrain, but I’m curious if there is a general guide about bear encounters when with a horse.
@@louisegogel7973 It depends on the rider and the horse. I came across a big grizzly at the side of the trail, I was several yards in the lead. My horse and I startled the grizzly, who jumped backwards and turned and ran toward the trees away from us. My horse who was used to the mountains just shied the opposite way and kept moving forward but kept an eye on that bear until it was out of sight. The trails are narrow and ruggen and a horse is conscious of it's footing and has to trust the human leader. It is quite remarkable how it all works. I have a lot of stories. The horses in the herd in the 'paddock' (just roped off by electric fence) would panic when a black bear came by the camp (but never break the electric barrier) just run together from one end to the other snorting and keeping an eye on the bear. The most danger I felt in the wilderness was from other people.
Chevy is wonderful, you must be thrilled. George is amazing, the most wonderful horseanality, he really is Zen. There was Jimmy awaiting your return, I noticed Chevy never moved Jimmy’s feet, he is beginning to relax more. What an amazing life you live, not without a lot of time and hard work. Congratulations to the whole family. ❤
Wow thanks Steve and Charlotte for taking us all on your ride with you! Thanks Steve for voicing the steps you take to manage a young horse out on the trail, that was brilliant to see it from on top of your lovely young horse and also from behind and your comments about the actions you were taking when you came upon people, dogs, obstacles, water and how you approached each situation, brilliant! ❤❤❤❤
Well done Chevy, what a brave boy ♥ and George, let's not forget he isn't that much older but takes on the role of big brother so well 🥰
Wow. Impressive. They both went so well for two babies.
Never saw a horse of George’s color before. Stunning!
What lovely countryside to be able to ride in. We have great areas here in Australia but nothing as beautiful as that, imho. What a gorgeous pair you and Charlottle made, well done to you both and also Chevy and George. Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful country,,beautiful horses,,,beautiful people,,,❤❤❤
GREAT RIDE WITH A 3 AND 4 YEAR OLD COLT. STEVE, CHEVY IS A CHAMPION. GEORGE IS A DOLL HIS KINDNESS AND CURIOSITY IS ADORABLE.
Chevy is amazing for 3 rides in, he trusts you and seems so very level headed. His canter is a dream; you were barely moving he just glides....When you have the go pro on and looking between his ears, his little head makes it look like you're on a small pony, so cute.
Delightful! Chevy's got a great and caring 'Daddy' in you Steve and it shows. Thank you so much for sharing this precious footage. By the way, I didn't realize that George had such a beautiful coat! Gorgeous.
What a great outing -- rain and all. Just enough challenges to guide those beauties through and a good dose of new scenery, smells and sounds for their senses to get a good workout too. Lots of lovely meet and greets on the trail, as well. Love it! Thanks again for another wonderful video. God bless.
A lovely ride on Chevy, he is a star! It brought back the memories of my quarter horse when i rode him as a 21/2 year old, i too rode him in a bosal and mecate as his teeth where not all through for a bit, when they where i had his wolf teeth out and a bit seat put in which helped the snaffle sit leval across his teeth.I have always used a snaffle with a double break, with either a copper and sweet iron roller, which helped lubrication of his mouth as a youngster, or a " Nathe " bit that had either a peanut or a plain flat link at its center, anything to get away from that snaffle nut cracker single joint, i love american tack and bits,Myler bits are the best in the world in my opinion. At least with all your experience any youngster you start will be a very good riding horse, Charlotte too has your way and is a lovely nature person ,the horses know it as well. Thanks for the video both, it was a remember time out together.
What a lovely daddy daughter date on the mountain = great job CHevy!!
Lovely horses and fantastic owners. Thanks for bringing us on your scenic mountain trip.
Such a good boy, he enjoyed that in that horrible weather - loved watching him go through that quarry pass! Steve love the CROCS 😅
terrifying to watch but the horses came through!! Tarps, geese, dogs, other horses, people, oh my! Brave horses!
Both George & Chevy looked wonderful on this ride, with lots of new & first unknowns to face, with you & Charlotte anticipating & leading throughout! Great job!
Chevy did an amazing job. Brilliant.
Grim weather, great outride together! Both horses are just so responsive and respectful- a tribute to the training!
They are in horsey heaven!! Love the chuff snort sounds, always a fave! The cantor is so sweet….🎉❤🎉❤
Great to see Chevy encountering uneven terrain & water. He comes across as a fun personality too. Thank you for sharing . I love George too. Both beautiful colours. Really enjoyable to watch. Ty all xxx ❤️
I thought Chevy did extremely well! He’s a lovely horse and, you do so well with all your horses, I have no doubt he will grow to be another heart horse for you. Ride on!
That was lovely, Chevy is a brave baby, it shows how much confidence he has in you Steve. I totally agree with you that youngsters should be out hacking/on the trail, all their early work should be out, learning their balance naturally, not forced & drilled in a school 😢. That's the way I always did it too. Both Chevy and George were brilliant ❤
Wonderful both horses did well for their ages. Charlotte looks keen on her horse. ❤❤
Beautiful horses. A pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing. X ❤
Chevy goes so well! Glad you can ride and work with him outside the arena. George is a beauty. He and Charlotte really suit each other. A fine video, thanks!
So beautiful!!! I cant belive how beautiful the scenery is at your mtn.!!! Wow Chevy had come along way!!!!
What a nice little horse you have here!
Chevy did GREAT! Thanks for taking us along. Bless you.
What a lovely ride.!
I felt stressed today but now I just exhaled and I feel a whole lot better.
I enjoy going with you guys on ride so much.
Thank you thank you.
God bless both of you and keep you safe.
You are loved from the panhandle of Florida USA.
Beautiful place to ride and the colour of that water ❤ stunning.
Enjoying the ride out with you two this morning ❤
That was awesome thanks for sharing 👍
Absolutely fantastic for your second ride out and that horse trusts you which is great!
Outstanding! I loved how you handled every human, livestock and terrain challenge. Chevy is going to make someone a VERY nice horse.
Really enjoyed this. Thank you so much for sharing.
Oh Steve, Chevy and George are absolutely beautiful ❤ They are testament to your training. When I was a child I rode 2 horses regularly, Burdock, who was Palomino and Bluebell, a blue roan. Your babies took me back to that beautiful time. Thank you for sharing your stunning hack with us Steve and Charlotte, I enjoyed every single second. 🙏🏻❤️
Yucky 🌧️ rain😮you guys are hardy😊 im so so so impressed by Chevy! What a champion! George is a pure prince ❤ such well trained horses! Shows what a great trainers they are! Im impressed and relieved...lol...
I love watching Georges ears, lol when walking he is watching intently the trail ahead. when they are trotting along he listens to his rider. I really enjoyed this video. Especially his lack of alarm when his horse moved into the trot when i didnt expect it and how patient he was with the ground work. just redoing anything that he felt needed more work doing.
Forgot pictures and video of when you bought Chevy. What a stunner he is, and such power. One in a million, splendid confirmation you lucky people.
Whew! What a great little trooper! Flapping tarp, geese, dogs and a mountain trail.
I am watching from A😅merica. It's a wonderful adventure for me to follow you
on many of your videos. You are truly gifted. I love your gentile approaches to horses and that you share your videos . You have shown the many years of experience. God has blessed you with a beautiful talent. Chevy and Charlottle are beautiful because of your expertise. Buy for now !! 😊😊😊
Charolette looks great on George 👍
Chevy is gorgeous in Western tack.
You make him feel safe, he trusts in your leadership. It's a testament to your work Steve.
Steve …you’re a good man…..love ya

Well done. Chevy is a peach! I love the look of George as well. They both did very well for being youngsters. Best of luck prepping for the demos. 💜🇺🇸
Down-to-earth training. Thank you. It is wonderful you take them out of the "school" and train as you go.
Well done to both young ones ❤
I am very impressed with Chevy and George. Chevy seems very cool headed and willing, as does George. Nice ride. And I'm sure they both learnt a lot. Great work to both you and Charlotte.
he is listening every word you say, such a great pal he is
Well done Chevy and Steve! 😊
He's so adorable...George is gorgeous nice fellas
Beautiful ride!
Nice to see someone doing the Willie Leahy style riding!!!
Nice,smooth,gentle and smart!
On the rides in Connemara there would some days be a youngster with us, just nearly beeing sut on.
The youngster would just be coming along, only bridled and loose. That was the basic training, to follow the others through the bogs, water, and roads.
Then a few times during the 5-6 hour ride, the youngster would be saddled and ridden for 10-15 minutes and longer as it progressed. Willie even did this with his auction horses so they would look and learn the trails.
You could tell that the horse got very confident over time and I even got to ride a new horse that had been working on the trail just for 3 weeks.
( he had the usual, trail training as the youngsters) he had been a trotting horse( pacer).
He was the nicest horse ever. We were like mostly 8-18 horses during those rides.
Willie Leahy passed away a few years ago,and it is so promising to see someone else do the same thing!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
That was fantastic! I almost felt like I was riding with You. All the little obstacles showed how well you relate to your horse. Confidence!
Chevy remarkable young horse need him in my life ❤I did have to laugh a few times through this as Steve always say try not talk to your horses and he was talking to chevy😂the young family are incredible people
What a joy to have Chevy AND Rolex. You are in for some wonderful rides this spring.
CH
The gray is GORGEOUS! Have not seen him before. You call that a mountain?! It’s a small hill around here.
So enjoyed the scenic ride through the quarry. Impressed with Chevy. Rapport with you is evident. Lucky next owner! It's really a pleasure when you have a well trained and balanced horse. Our daughter's little mare was so easy and a great loader. People always commented that she would "walk into a meat grinder" if asked. Haha! Thanks for sharing Chevy's new experience with me here in Roswell, Georgia USA!
Awesome ride. He is fab!
What a good boy.isnt nice when they come along so well .mine grew till she was 6 .❤🎉🎉
These are my favourite videos: expert trainers taking young horses out on hacks. As an expat Brit from Surrey who has lived nearly 38 years in the south of Spain (just down the coast from where you used to live) I also get my fix of our lovely (green) British countryside that I miss so much, so it´s a win win for me. P.S. I WANT GEORGE!!!!!!!!!
Well, it’s good we don’t melt, everybody is waterproof underneath! 👍 😅 Steve, I hope Chevy grows a bit too.
But then I think of Charlotte duJardin and her Olympic silver medalist Pumpkin, whom she found as a loved, American backyard pleasure horse in a small training class. She, who could have about any horse in the world, felt that special connection with him, felt his potential and spent weeks persuading his loving family to part with him.
I’m sure you saw “Pumpkin” in his first Olympic dressage event
In Tokyo. The little guy,
1-2 hands smaller than any other dressage competitor there, was
breathtaking in Charlotte’s hands - and she was so proud of him. Charlotte made a much needed statement to the horse/dressage world - that when true horsemanship joins with
a horse with great heart,
size doesn’t matter as much, because magic can happen!
I was SO impressed with Chevy today!
Especially with his first time in moving water!!!
( My 3 1/2 yr. old Arab gelding insisted on going halfway through streams and happily lying down in them😳)
But Chevy did wonderfully well in a day full of firsts!
Yaaaay Chevy !! ⛰️🏇💦🌧️🦮🐕🦺🐎👀🪿🐟🇬🇧☔️🍮👍❤️🌟
Enjoyed seeing you on your Handsome Horse!
Brilliant training that everyone can get something out of.thank you.
Chevy looked as if he wanted to keep on breaking out into a canter. Him saddled up and under rein gives him something to do and I think he feels important. He certainly surprised me with his quiet responses and general attitude. Says a lot for Steve's horsemanship. George has an interesting haircut. Does Charlotte trim George's coat?
🤍🤎🧡💛🖤🩶Lovely ride in the mountains there. Even the wet conditions looked beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Another stunning video!! What gorgeous countryside.
I have to say, I’m always so impressed by Charlottes way with horses. A pleasure to see Charlotte ride.
Some riders just have IT with horses, whatever IT is, you’ve got it, must be in the genes 😊 🏇
What a beautiful riding area 😊
Brilliant video as usual. So good to see you both enjoying your ride despite the weather and what fantastic boys you have got there. Hope the weather improves soon.😇😇
Thank you for taking us along on your trek out. Interesting informative and entertaining as always Steve and Charlotte. Always a joy to see the stunning Chevy, George, Jimmy and Rolex.❤
this ride illustrates how important connection and consistency of experience means to a young horse. Little careful makes an excent ride on a horse!
That was a great ride.
What a lovely ride despite the weather.
great ride, lots of good "experiences" for the youngsters 👍
Fantastic! He did really well. Shame about the weather, lovely scenery, thanks for sharing your ride.
What a lovely ride. And Chevy has such a good head on his shoulders, and your guidance and training really shine through. Mazel tov!!
Love the “meal tomorra” Steve 😂
THAT was fun!🤗
Chevy looks so smooth ❤
Loved it. Thanks for the ride.
Sad how bully breeds are getting villanized. They are supposed to be a working breed, and, as Steve continuously proves with horses, with some training, powerful animals become safer. In most cases, its a bit of training of the animal, and more training of the owner.
I am fine with the bully breeds, they are actually predictable and honest when raised normally. They will let you know if they don't like you by their body language. The ones I am more cautious with are some of the Asian breeds like Chowchow or Akita as they don't telegraph their dislike much but may still bite you. They tend to be more sneaky about it if they intend it.
Seems like Chevy has been on that ride many times lol
What a couple of gorgeous horses. Thank you for taking us on your ride and showing us some countyside. It's all beautiful!
Love it...trail riding is sooo wonderful. Thank you for taking us with you on your trek!
Great job!!!!! You look fantastic on Chevy❤ . Ozark, Missouri. USA😘
such a nice ride :)
Loved you two out riding!!!!!!
Fabulous job chevy and Steve
What a wonderful little horse😊
the little canyon was really pretty, there would have been twice as many people there with better weather
I have watched Chevy since you got him and he has always been my choice even though you had Jimmy and I like him as well. I never saw when you got Rolex but he seem a very good horse to - this looked like a lovely ride even with the rain.
Nice ride! ❤
