- This is a quick tutorial on how I automate my starter bases as a solo. It's easy to get bogged down in inventory management and lose precious daylight to mundane tasks. After this video I feel confident that you can set this up for yourself if you aren't already!

For the igniter, just link it to a button. A button emits 1 power for 1 second when pressed, igniting the igniter for only a second, preventing it from degrading too fast.
Or put the igniter on the filter pass output on the conveyer and add the filter to the conveyor. When it detects so much wood it triggers the igniter.
Okay this is what I need thank you very much I’ll make a correction to this so people don’t burn out their igniters!
@@chipdingle shit that's smart. I never thought of doing it that way. I always just used a button. lol
Hook the filter pass from wood conveyor to a timer. Set to 0.25 seconds. Will not use the ignitor like crazy only when you add fresh wood.
Yea but wouldnt this defeat the purpose of having the igniter in the first place? The point is to have automation, theres something not automatic about having to press a button.
I think you kinda need to accept in T1 that you’re gonna have to interact with your furnaces in one way or another (through a button or by holding E and Turning them on.)
This is of course if you’re not prepared to run a circuit which would require some more electrical knowledge. Theres a cool one i’ve seen people use for their Auto Sprinkler System which could work. It uses timers, some branches and a blocker which make it so that the sprinklers turn off and on at certain intervals.
Either way, with this set up, theyre only ever gonna turn off if you’re out of wood. Thats not necessarily a bad thing!
Love this! Definitely gonna make this my new setup in every starter
Heck yes! I want to see maybe you can make it better!
Be aware, this set-up will keep burning all your wood even if there is no more ore to smelt.
It is important to set filter conditions so that ony the amount of wood you need is put into the furnace
Also the igniter will break whn used continuously.
Yes I’m going to make a correction to this as soon as I have some time
If you put the output of your furnace back into the dropbox then you'll sort the metal/etc back into your tc
Good looking out!
keep it up love the editing bro
Thank you! Hopefully I’ll keep getting better!
Thats a good video! Finally something simple, yet practical. 1800h into the game and Ive been playing mostly for the fun that PVP gives. But seeing this - an easy solution for mess in the chest (problem that sticks with me everytime me and my friends play) - makes me want to try it building myself. Thanks, good work.
Hell yes! That’s great to hear! Good luck out there
Solar panels should only face either south or north. NORTH if your in the bottom half of the map and south if you're in the north side of the map.
I actually think I can do this haha. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
You can do this and more!
So Hella awesome man.. Great vid
No way you’re awesome! Thank you for watching!
Good Video. Warning, be careful if you ever decide to attach the outgoing port of the tc into the loop of boxes, if you don't filter, you could spend time looking for your tc tools (hammer, wiring tool, hose, wrench etc.) in the other boxes as they will go box to box until you set filters or snag them out of a box when it goes through it. this warning is for larger setups of course.
Omg I didn’t even think of that…good looking out
Could toss in a crafter on the T1 and have it make GP from the furnace output box as well.
Ahh they hours and hours and hours ive spent setting up sorting systems for open big open cores.
I think we may need to engage in a student mentor teaching problem because my lord I’m learning more than I did the day before every day
@iamDVBI it tends to go that way. I have a friend who refuses to put things into the right boxes. You have no idea how happy I was to see the industrial system. In the case of your starter 2x2 I'd add a separate conveyor for weapons, gear and medical stuff. After that, add in deployables if you want. To keep the drop box empty.
Automate or die! Think that's what they say. Another great video!
Thanks Andrew
Good video! Thanks!
Thank you very much!
Legitimately useful 😅
Hey thanks!
Genius thx for teaching..
No way, but we are a work in progress! Thank you very much for the comment
the least used thing in rust imo is the water pump jack monument.
Okay they need to do something about it let you build around it maybe or something? Hmm
@@iamDVBI or that and let anybody place a battery or put some low grade in so that the pump pumps on its own
Or the igniter I guess u can put it to filter pas threw and it’s only work when items are coming in
And the like a little thing with a timer that will make Sure it wouldn’t drive u nuts
Okay thank you so much because it was and it is.
Professor DVBI to the rescue!
very nice ty
Hell yeah thank you for watching!
I like to set a max amount of what goes into the tc. You can have 1k wood in there and whatever is left over use in the furnace. I do the same for metal keep some in tc some in the box for crafting stuff
This is the smart way to go about things for sure
Great video, and I see you're already taking feedback to make the next one better : ^D
Made my day 😭
I would have to disagree a bit. In its simplest form the biggest thing u need is to automate smelting. It can be simply done with a furnace conveyor 2 adapters and a box optional a button and ignitor. Tie the out from the conveyor to the furnace then loop from furnace to box and back to conveyor.
I definitely agree and it’s the first thing I do in every base, but my goal with this video was to (attempt to) show there’s more you can do right away for not too much expense!
probably, the most helpful instruction for a newbie?
I bet you can do it better! And when you do I hope you come back and teach me!
Great video man. If you’re ever looking for people to play with hit me up 🤙🏻
Fuck yeah bro were you playing? Server wise?
You're wrong about your solar panel placement. It's based on seasons in game, not about the sun
Really?!? I’ve heard a ton of different stats on this. Would you mind sharing where you get that? Just so I know for next time? I’m able to get like 20 power pretty consistently this way
@iamDVBI it's complicated, the season changes as the wipe progresses, and based on where you are on the map... to optimize, you would have to be adjusting your panels all the time. That's why ppl generally just go with pointing north or south. It works most of the time and saves screwing around. Not to mention, root combiners and solar panels can be found regularly, so you just add an extra one if what you have isn't getting the job done.
This setup will roast your igniter to death very fast, instead use the "filter pass" output from your wood conveyor. It will give a signal which you wire into the side of a timer switch with 0.25 sec (minimum) duration. Power into the timer from your battery or from the passthrough, power out of the switch into the igniter. Conveyor detects wood, flashes the igniter for a split second and lights the furnace. And with the latest update the igniter now repairs itself from your tc!
Yes I completely forgot but I need to update that today with additional instruction! How did you get so proficient with the electricity? Just time?
Bro igniter wont work like that it will die
What really??? That hasn’t happened to me yet!
@@iamDVBI yeah its hp will decrease upon using it when on
The nice thing is they now self repair so if you can make it only run when needed with the filter pass on the conveyer, it will never break any more.
Cool video, next time change ur settings in game to make the game/video look nicer
But my potato can’t handle it! But I’m sure it could for a short time while I record thank you for the heads up I will next time!
No, no no just no.... So much wrong here.
