Imo the board game channel was ok at the beginning then they way overplayed the emotional part faking laughs etc all the time . It changed to feeling very awkward and artificial. Yeah it didn't look quiet right here. Basically they could well afford the original price, which is why Sheldon is like "whyyyy". Leonard just did that to feel good. Poor Stewart.
Especially since Leonard comes from a family of rich geniuses. This is one his good friends who he knows struggles economically and emotionally. It just really shows you the lack of character development they put into this show.
It's just extremely dumb down jokes so non-STEM folk can understand mixed in with cliche plotting.
