More About The Full Episode: Hey, it's Anjelah Johnson-Reyes, and I'm back with another episode of Postpartum Confessions. If you caught Confession #6, I talked about intrusive thoughts related to D-MER. Today, in Episode #7, we're talking more about coping with Dysphoric Milk Ejection Reflex, or D-MER.
I'm seven months into this journey, and it's been a ride. Anxiety and unsettling feelings during breastfeeding became my norm, and I needed a way to cope. In this episode, I share my go-to mantra, the one that grounds me during those intense letdown moments. I hope it brings comfort and insight to anyone facing similar challenges.

    About Anjelah:
Anjelah Johnson-Reyes was born and raised in San Jose, California where she grew up with four siblings in a large extended family to which she remains close. Anjelah found herself an internet sensation and pioneer in viral CZcams videos when her notorious “Nail Salon” bit from a local comedy show was posted and received over 100 million views! Shortly thereafter she was added to the cast on the original MADtv where she trademarked her legendary character, Bon Qui Qui. Similar to the nail salon video, the Bon Qui Qui sketch caught on and have been viewed by over 75 million people. The multi-hyphenate’s popularity has translated into four successful comedy specials: That’s How We Do It” (Comedy Central), The Homecoming Show (NUVO TV), Not Fancy (Netflix) and Mahalo & Good Night (Epix). She has displayed her acting prowess both on TV and film. Some of her credits include “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Superstore,” “Moms’ Night Out,” and “Alvin & the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.” Her first book was published in 2022, Who Do I Think I Am: Stories of Chola Wishes and Caviar Dreams, a hilarious and touching memoir full of memorable anecdotes on how a Latina dynamo was able to forge ahead and become successful.

The most important thing is that she's fed, whether it be breastmilk or formula, and that you keep your sanity because she needs you❤

Do what works for you. .. everyone journey is different! What a boring world if we were all alike. No cookie cutter mold for mothering. Do what works for you. Too much pressure. Just a setup for failure. ❤ you got this❤❤

3 week's of breastfeeding was all I could do. The "Dread" every time it was time to feed was unbearable for me. It was Halloween night, Dad had our older two out trick or treating and I'm feeding and answering the door! Trick or Treat! That did it for me. My nipples are bleeding, I'm ready to jump out of my skin it hurt so bad. My Baby was born 10lbs and was hungry. He was given his first bottle on Halloween night. It was the best thing I did for the both of us. My anxiety went down, my baby was satisfied and my joy came back. He was the cutest little guy!! Take Care of you too Dear! 🌹🌹

6 weeks for me! Then I decided that as long as she's able to eat, that's the main goal. It was the best thing I did for both of us because she was colicky and I had PPD. She's 20 now❤

I hope this subsides for you soon. Hugs being sent your way. Its tough enough being a mom and trying to breastfeed, i couldn't. Had to bottle feed. I pray for healing of your anxiety and you can truly enjoy this time with your little one. ❤

I am a man and I got on her family about her breastfeeding for the first year. They were pressuring her into doing it and it was effecting everything. I finally got in their face after she had a break down and told them all off and said I dont want you to give her anymore advice or any "tips" they were controlling her and not letting her learn anything. They didn't like me after that and told me she will not have a healthy immune system. Well my daughter is 4 about to be 5. She has maybe had 1 UTI, a cold here and there and nothing else. Anjelah we all love you and your daughter is so beautiful. I hope you get through this and hope to see you in person one day

It’s pure survival when those babies are little. You’re doing great!! 🎉 and your body does so many weird little things to adjust…someone told me it takes your body 9 months to prepare to have the baby, and 9 months afterwards to recover. So be patient with yourself, you’re doing awesome! ❤

Thamk you for being open about this! Each womans journey in motherhood is unique, but similar. By speaking up your giving power to the mamas out there that might not feel like its okay to speak of the not so "pretty" parts of motherhood!

I’m 13 years postpartum 🤷🏻‍♀️ But this takes me back. .. breastfeeding was my least favorite part of the baby deal. I had nothing but problems w it for both of my kids. I gave my second goats milk from a farm starting around 8 mos (i know the rule is only after 1 year, but he was big and healthy). I desperately wanted mine to be breastfed, but if you’re suffering, it’s not worth it. So many healthier formulas out there these days.

Hola Anjelah, it is great that you are you are controlling your thoughts. From experience, what also helps is to detox with a little activated charcoal and try acupuncture to calm your spirit/mind😊.

I couldnt breastfeed at all i tried but my son didnt take to it he was good with his bottle lol😂 but nurse did tell me it takes time at that point i didnt want to deal with breastfeeding because i was feeling over whelmed already and it was a little depressing to me because i really didnt have alot of breast milk to begin with i almost felt less of a woman🤔😩 of course my baby didnt make me feel that way but thats how i felt either way its hard then i realized hey im a human being what counts is that we love our babies hang in there anjelah👍😄
