How is the sound quality? Does it sound clear when up high? Also if you plug in a iPhone via cable will the car play work?

Just got mine in but for some reason I can’t make it fit flush like yours. Did you have to shove it in between the vent and the climate control? I have electronic climate controls but saw other automatic climate controls with this head unit fitting flush… need help lol

I had the same issue. I solved it by taking out the top vent, then securing the radio in flush, then pushing the vent back into place. Follow a CZcams guide for the vent it’s super easy. You don’t need to disconnect the climate control scroll wheel wire like the videos show, u can just let the vent hang to the left. However this will mean ur no longer using the two securing screws for the top vent but it’s pressure fit with 3 securing clips so it doesn’t have any play

Please let us know as things develops in the e36 and civic as I’m interested in this headunit for the maps functionality. But if it means sacraficing my current kenwood x705(which is currently the most budget audiophile unit) then it would have to be a hard pass. I just finished installing all new speakers powered by 10active channels and dsp. It’s pretty epic!
I can sell you any speakers you would like for the e36, either oem replacments or aftermarket goodies since I have a ton of equipment that I need to off soon lmk

Any pictures of the wiring connected? Did you have to cut the car's wiring to install the CP-71 wire pigtail?

Yes you will have to cut into it, at least had to on mine. Might be other solutions out there adapt from
Factor radio. But I already had a aftermart one

Just get the adapter that goes from bmw connector to wires to connect to radio plug do not cut og bmw wires
