- The Battle of Hattin took place on 4 July 1187, between the Crusader states of the Levant and the forces of the Ayyubid sultan Saladin. It is also known as the Battle of the Horns of Hattin, due to the shape of the nearby extinct volcano of that name.
The Muslim armies under Saladin captured or killed the vast majority of the Crusader forces, removing their capability to wage war. As a direct result of the battle, Muslims once again became the eminent military power in the Holy Land, re-capturing Jerusalem and most of the other Crusader-held cities and castles. These Christian defeats prompted the Third Crusade, which began two years after the Battle of Hattin.

This is one of those battles that had very changing results in the aftermath. To think the Crusader leaders thought it was a good idea to march a substantial army into the desert in the dead of summer without staying to a water source. More so since said army was drawn from their garrisons.
We've all sweated our boxes off on a hot day.
Imagine doing that in armour, that has absolutely no respiration.
Those horses too. That's a lot of layers for 40c heat.
Thank you. This is amazing! One of the best battle reconstructions I have ever seen. Great work. You really capture the desperate situation and the ruthless nature of the fight
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed watching :)
Stfu NPC, even the units don’t match the time period lol
@@Memes-du3fp its okay its an effort and i like the way they narrated good work
I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you very much!
More people have died in the name of religion than have ever been saved.
Those explosive arrows are very effective! Too much blood. 😮
Why can't people just get along
Can you do the battle of Montgisard, King Baldwin IV's greatest victory against Saladin?

How many men did the Romans lose in that battle? I thought cannae was the greatest defeat. 80000 in one day
@@chadrowe8452Losses were thought to be around 120000 men, 80K of which were Legionaries.
Yes I will definitely do this one in the future thanks for telling me about it
The video is so similar to the 2005 film that I went to check Wikipedia.
Its not the best of sources, but most events described are backed by citations.
So, yeah, its accurate
Animation is usually pretty impressive on this channel but is it just me or did they overdo it with the blood? I mean, good grief, whichever animator is in charge of the blood/gore really went to town.
It is a modded version of a game
was kingdom of heaven properly real? like did it just take inspiration or did most of what happens in the movie happen in real life?
The director's cut is a lot more historically accurate, but not everything was accurate for example with the battle of Hattin: In kingdom of Heaven, the reason why they marched out was just to attack Saladin while in real life the actual reason was that Saladin was sieging Tiberius. It did happen though the entire Crusader army was destroyed in the desert mainly because the men were so thirsty and tired!
lesson you need water to live
What happens when it's an equal fight.
I think this much like the Kingdom of Heaven. Saladin seems to be a good leader in men. He would find a worthy opponent in King Richard the Lionheart.
we are only 3 seconds in, and we see knights with full plate armore as if it was the 1470s, yet this battle is in 1187, so just nexst time just use tier 1 units.
This wasn’t a battle, this was a massacre
