    I just recently learned that the 2018 is the first year that you can get a 2SS with the complete 1LE package. I think I read that before 2018, you could only get the 1LE suspension on the 2SS, but if you wanted the FULL 1LE package, it had to be the 1SS. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the reason I've been looking for a 2018. Also, I like the 2018 looks.

    18 ss 1LE. Car was cammed and had headers on it from previous owner. Only issue I had that was a PAIN to track down was whoever did the headers put the heat shield too close to wires around the starter, was causing an electrical nightmare once the car warmed up. The engine and drivetrain was available in the c7 before GM released the 6th gen camaro. It's been tried and tested. I got a 2016 SS and I've had no problems aside from the trans shudder which is a well documented problem with any 8 speed equipped GM vehicle and I fixed it quickly with a flush and tune. You don't provide any actual data to back your claims apart from certain 1le's coming with aluminum vs plastic pedals. Everything you just said was opinion without providing any concrete evidence. If anything, it just sounds like owners bias. I'd argue that if you buy used and intend to mod your SS, with the 16, not only would you get a better deal due to depreciation with older models but it's also easier and cheaper to tune. It's the same exact engine and objectively better looking than the refreshed models and low mileage trims can be found for less than 40k whereas new ones you're looking at close to 50k

    • @RaceCarFriends
      @RaceCarFriends  Před rokem +1

      You're absolutely right that it's my opinion that I'm sharing with you, and the facts are that one of the 2016's that I owned used to shut down at stop lights consistently, you never heard me say anything about the engine and actual drive train, but it's the putting it all together in a package that can be tricky especially doing it the first time around, just like doing an engine swap, sometimes it may go seamlessly and other times it may be a headache, but the more you do it the better you get at it and eventually you'll iron out the kinks so that is my argument for choosing a 2018 over a 2016 and for choosing a 21 over a 19 when they did the refresh, hope this helps you better understand my train of thought, thanks for sharing your opinion with us as well though it is highly valued and welcomed.

      @@RaceCarFriends that's a one off experience, in fact that's the 1st time I've heard of someone encountering that issue and I've been surfing the camaro6 forums for years. Determining what year SS people should get boils down to whether or not they care about having a dealer warranty on it, what their visual preference is and if they are getting an auto or not. 8 speeds 60ft better on the strip than the 10 speeds but the 10 speeds have better top end and don't have the shudder issue. Everything else is trivial and unimportant imo

    • @RaceCarFriends
      @RaceCarFriends  Před rokem +2

      @@joshuagorman7856 I never posted my problem on any forums I'm sure a lot of people that had problems with these cars didn't post their problem either. The Camaro's in general are very sturdy cars so you can't go wrong with them, I was just nitpicking in this video.

      @joshuagorman7856 Před rokem

      @@bayareakat66 the 8 speed is fine if you do the dealer recommended flush and tune it. It's not as terrible as people make it out to be. People that bash the 8 speed probably ignored the shutter and had to replace the torque converter. It 60ft's better than the 10 speed and holds more records on the 1/4 mile. But the 10 speed has better top end. 5th gear, power tends to fall off in the 8 speed but a tune can iron it out. If you plan on keeping it stock for a while though, 10 speed or manual is the better option

    Actually the 2018 automatic is one of the worst years, and also the slowest 8 speed automatic. The more reliable 10 speed automatic that was co-created with ford first rolled out with the 2019. Lot of the major issues started in late 2020 and 2021 due to pandemic and employee shortages. I would go 2019 and late 22 and 23

      Yes I agree with you if you're talking automatics, but I was referring more to the manual versions of these cars.
