My observation - People do not follow religion , they follow the feelings of people they love (their father,mother, brothers , uncles etc) They defend their religion just for the sake that it belongs to their family and community and that it is a shame if they tell me and my grandfathers were misled following nonsense since 100 years

I though I was once friends with a moderate muslin. At remadan I was eating and offered him some food. He refused as he was waiting for the sun to go down. I told him that the sun had already set in my home country Ireland and he proceeded to really argue that this was not true and I was being fooled. He said if I joined Islam I would never be fooled again. I couldn’t get through to him he was so angry. and I was shocked by his complete loyalty to Islam even to the point of sounding and being so so stupid. Needless to say we never spoke again. I hear He is still very angry and blaming me for our friends distancing themselves from him. When we meet he really fooled us but as time when on his true mean stupid self came through.

Allah wakes up from his dead slumber and tells the Sun to get lost and the Sun runs. Then he rises for the next day. During the Ramadan it's real tough. 'cause he has to go without water and food throughout the day.

Jake didn't, and Ridvan said he thinks that any argument for anything being "necessary" is an exercise in sophistry. Now that's a perfectly understandable position to take. Unfortunately Jake could not understand what Ridvan was pointing out, and he ignored Ridvans concerns about the giving an answer to a vaguely introduced question. Ridvan asked Jake to explain why he thinks God is a necessary being, and Jake said they just do, no explaination offered. I might watch more, but I can tell most Muslims didn't realise Ridvan had undermined the concept of a necessary being in the first 15 minutes. All the memes of Ridvan saying "I think that is irrelevant" actually show that many Muslims failed to realise what he was saying.

As a former religious person like yourself (but of another religion) I can for sure say that religious people refuse to listen to logical thinking and facts. I was guilty of it myself. It wasn't a logical argument that made me change, but once I did I could see the illogical nature of every religion I've known. That's the problem, it's sometimes impossible for a logical argument to break through and hit home, because they refuse to see it as right. Of course their religion has to be right. The only other option is that it's wrong, and it just couldn't be. (Yes that sounds illogical, but that's my point).

The funny fact is, in Hinduism planetary motion w.r.t earth was proposed during 1500B.C and even says the time period of the universe and the earth and by the end of 5th century, hindu astronomers realised the words said in their religious texts were incorrect so they went on to discover more about the planetary motion (that's what I call progressive, the freedom to question your belief or holy texts and accepting the mistake).
