I'm the Warrior of Light, and this is my favorite song on the Citade- Solution Nine.

After going through Living Memory, I can say that Solution Nine is just, such an amazing place. While Living Memory is where those long gone would live in an eternal good memory, Solution Nine is a real place, with real people, eating real food, playing real games, drinking with friends, buying furniture for their homes, taking their bikes and cars for a spin along Electrope highways, and after all is said and done, a place where people can live and die happy to have lived a good life, especially after the Regulators become less common, and death becomes a normal and accepted part of life again, it makes Solution Nine look more alive and vibrant than Living Memory ever was, because it's not just a thin sheen of colour and nostalgia over a cold steel shell, it's a living, breathing, changing city, and that's always gonna be better than some fairytale wonderland.
imo, Solution 9 is the true 6th zone. I see Living Memory more as a 7th or Epilogue zone. Seeing from that pov makes losing LM more bearable
For sure. I’m guessing that’s why you had the food scene parallels in both and showing you had to fake it in Living Memory. I look forward to the post expansion content to see how life changes in Solution Nine and maybe see a few random NPCs from the area in the other towns.
I'm sure it'll be a hard transition though. You see how scared an anxious most Alexandrians get without their Regulators. I imagine it won't be easy to give that aspect of their life up.
@@Reaper1722 I'm sure a bunch of the post-story content will be focused around helping the alexandrians integrate into the rest of the societies around them, including helping them destigmatize death. and probably some of the Arcadion raids will be focused around it as well, seeing as the whole thing is to help the Alexandrians feel better and look forward to a new future.
The scale of S9 is kinda crazy. We are limited to a certain scaled down version for gameplay purposes, but just looking at the background and the highways and stuff, you can see that theres more skyscrapers. Whether its office buildings or residential, you can tell S9 is probably the most populated city to exist in FF14.
The sheer scale of it is really cool especially when you compare it to like Limsa which looks like it has the population of several hundred at most

@@teckard8202 100% agree, I have absolutely NO idea why square insists on this approach, it's like that every expansion. 2nd city where you get gear etc. NEVER had a market board. Rhalgr? Eulmore? So many cool cities but no MB. It's a shame here especially because it would make this hub literally perfect.
@@098Xzibit Because it gives people a reason to occupy both cities instead of the populace primarily leaving one vacant when they finish MSQ. That way, the beginning town is still bustling with people even for new players that get here towards the end of the 7.x patches.
People will logically always flow through the second city always because the tomestone and scrip vendors are there, but the Market Board being in the first city ensures that people will be around it well into the postgame.
Personally, I'd prefer if inns were in both cities since having inns doesn't really disrupt this flow of people traffic like Market Boards and currency vendors do.
The best Endgame Hub in the entire game imo
The only endgame hub I don't like is Rhalgr's Reach, that place sucks.
Only thing I dislike is no market board, but I can sacrifice that for an amazing place like this

The first town that had me exploring around with HUD toggled off the whole time. Solution Nine is just that mesmerizing.

Its really not the same without the ambient noise of crafters at the Nexus Arcade.
God I love this type of fantasy. Futuristic looking utopia's, I'm glad XIV has been going in this direction. Makes me so curious as to what the other shards are like now that we know what this one is capable of.

I can understand why they dont do S9 housing, vibe clashes hard with current outside features so they have to make external feature specific stuff for s9...but at least apartments soon, please!
@@Deep40000 The appartments is almost confirmed. They didn't need to create a S9 "residential district" with an NPC in the lobby's counter to greet you. Yeah, it's planeed and I am saving every single gil to get an appartment.

stepping into Solution 9 and seeing the shops gave me a similar feeling to stepping into New Babbage for the first time in Star Citizen.

I really like the vibe of this track. Really fits the futuristic utopia that solution 9 strives to be. That said, i hope they still play the S9 trailer music somewhere. Maybe that will be the Arcadian lobby music?

I'm thinking they moved that to the Arcadion. I was so surprised to hear this instead of what we heard in the trailer but in a good.
The Lakeland music in the Lakeland trailer was moved to The Grand Cosmos so I'm sure the Solution 9 music will be used elsewhere.

I can't quite place why but this theme makes me feel kinda sad. It sounds so...mournful?

It sounds like a Close in the Distance remix of some sort.
@@justcallmescott6421 The motifs are from "Dawntrail" and "Smile," but atmospherically in the backing tracks it does reference "'Neath Dark Waters" in the instrumentation and atmosphere it strives for.
It's a poppy, catchy lobby tune, but behind it all there is an indescribable somberness that picks away at your brain the more you listen to it.
This gives such strong PSO lobby vibes, it's amazing
The whole zone gave me PSU lobby vibes like nothing else. It felt more Phantasy Star than PSO2NGS does XD

@@ltmuffler3482 I was a huge fan of old PSO, and Universe especially, so Solution 9 and its surroundings left me feeling some pretty wonderful nostalgia.

I cried entering this place. Cried twice, actually. Myself and the whole community waited a full year to see Solution Nine, and by god is it a magical area. Can’t wait to spend the next two years gearing and leveling here. Not to mention The Arcadion.
This place is probably my favourite in terms of scenery. I’d love to live there.
What sucks so hard is that, cuz it's the trade hub for the expansion, we stand no chance of getting even apartments here...
It fits the vibe perfectly, what an incredible place, I never get tired of running around to admire it.

Honestly I kind of wish we could see just how big this place actually is
Hopefully we have a dungeon here where we can go into the buildings and explore the rooftops, see just how much there is to the city.
About a week after early access I was able to unlock Solution Nine area. Fell in love with the theme. To the point when I had a flight the next day to Singapore, I kept listening to this theme when I arrived.
This is my favorite endgame hub. I will cherish every moment this place is relevant for the next 2.5 years.
My brain is going to need a lot of time to get used to this place simply existing lol

I wasn't sure how to feel about solution 9 when I saw the trailer, but it's now honestly my favorite endgame hub of all time, maybe even my favorite city

This is easily one of the biggest and grandest city in the game so far. The view when you get inside and see these massive skyscrapers all around you is just stunning. Does it fit into the world? Is the clean sci-fi-aesthethic fitting for the game? I could not say but it does nothing to not making your mouth drop.
We’ve had Allagan stuff since ARR, sci-fi stuff in this game is nothing new lol
@@NekkoBlue Personally I don't mind Solution 9. I think it's a great place and will be amazing for a variety of screenshots. However, I have read a lot of comments from people who very much disliked it and I can fully understand why. There's a pretty hefty difference between the weird arcane-magitech of the Allagans and the more classic science-fiction-style of Solution 9.
We don't know about the day to day life in the Allagan Empire, but there is an aesthetic clash. The Allagans had always this weird barely comprehensible tech, in Solution 9 you find laptops, holographic TVs and people running around with their coffee cups and let's not forget the drone bikes or the straight up nightclub. Hell you can find a guy doing a job application test in the government sector.
As I said I don't mind it. In fact give me all the clothes the NPCs are wearing. Give me the option for their replicator-thing on their head. Give me the nightclub vibes.
But, I can fully see why some people do not like Solution 9. Which is why I phrased the comment as I did: Some might not like it, but there's no denying that Solution 9 is easily the grandest city in the game so far.

I was unsure about it when they first announced it, but it actually ended up working very well, lore-wise. No spoilers but I think they handled it elegantly.
"is the clean sci-fi-aesthetic fitting" .... FF has always been about the intersection between technology and magic. either you have a fantasy world unearthing ancient magitek technology, or you have a modern world using and manufacturing magic. play more final fantasy.

I can't shake the feeling that the music beats 1:14 to 1:32 reminds me of "Ragnarok Online OST 08: Theme of Prontera" ( 0:50 ) and that the lofi part at 2:03 to 2:28 sounds just like "Leslie Wai - Paradigm" music (that was used in "孔明の罠 - Kaizo Trap" where the girlfriend is trying to save guy taken by videogame animation)
Listen - I don't care what peeps say about the story or the location -- Soken is still on top with the music & you can't deny that.
Oh for sure. This expansion has great music (when they aren't constantly reusing old tracks), and the locations are gorgeous. 10/10.

Story Is great to me
I liked the Story. It doesn't reach the Highs of ShB or EW but those are some of the best in MMO Gaming to begin with so I say it's the Silver to their Platinum.

I am a big sucker for sci-fi mixes in fantasy games. This stuff reminds me of Star Ocean games and Phantasy Star games and it’s my favorite two things to mix; fantasy and sci-fi I love this area and never wanna leave it

My WoL Lore has her clan being in tune with lightning as an element to an extreme measure, to a point of Ramuh recognizing her as one of her clan, and giving her a small lightning blessing ((the Ramuh glowing weapons)) after his trial.
Suffice to say, this? As soon as Nami walked in here, to a town where lightning can do literally everything, her immediate reaction was more or less "...This is where I'm retiring once my adventuring days are done."
*proceeds to get rejected at the immigration bureau for not taking non-natives in*

Between Tuliyollai and this, the main 3 cities are about to look *really* empty come the break period between patches now.
Limsa will never be empty. Even outside of the degenerate stuff, it's the most QoL city. The Market Board is the shortest distance away from the aetheryte from any other city and the retainer bell is right next to the board allowing you to keep standing still while browsing either one, not to mention that Limsa's aetheryte gives you the World Transfer options. New cities do not have the World Transfer options.
