- I can't say thank you enough to @florencedavis558 for showing up and showing out with 5 huge boxes of food!! What a huge blessing for not only our family, but for several families here in our little community. We are truly blessed to have good people in our lives that care about us and also the people that are truly struggling in this economy. This video is to be continued as we're getting everything separated out and delivering it to blessing boxes around the community and to some of our neighbors and friends that could use it. My cup runneth over, y'all!

OMG, I would sure enough get excited over the nuts, the cherries, the raisins, spaghetti, the pintos, the peanut butter. I've never fixed lentils and don't believe my mom or grandmother ever did, either. My mom cooked great northerns and pintos with ham, as do I, and I love them. I was told by my Aetna Medicare Advantage I'd can have $50 worth of free groceries monthly from Nations, and what a blessing. I'm SO grateful. From them, I've stocked some canned ham, canned tuna and canned salmon in my pantry. Oh, also canned fruit, and those are good with a simple homemade shortcake and a little cool whip. I'd never turn my nose up at any of these items and actually enjoy cooking and eating meals from them.

Lentils, this makes a great sausage and lentil soup. I use smoked Cajun sausage to make this. I also use chicken stock for my base. There are many recipes, but I keep it simple, onions, garlic, celery and carrots browned in a little oil, add in the sausage, about 6 cups stock or broth whatever you have and 1 pound of lentils. soak the lentils in boiling water for about 15 minutes before you add them to your pot. This can be done in the crock pot as well.

If you google lentil spaghetti bolognese there seem to be a lot of recipes. Could be a good healthy alternative to meat.
I've heard they take on the flavor of what you're cooking them with, so I'm kind of excited to try them out

Lentils goes a long way; maybe keep 1 or 2 bags. Don’t eat too many at once (same rule as pea soup) unless you’re accustomed to eating dried legumes 😉

Lentils taste like a mild pinto bean. They cook quickly.

Just a precaution when I get my donation the nuts and dried stuff are good but keep an eye out they aren’t bad. It’s hit or miss but before you put them in a dish double check so you don’t waste the whole meal.
