Third Man Records is proud to present and exciting new full length album from our favorite Third Man Chanteuse… Olivia Jean!
Bathtub Love Killings is the debut solo LP from Olivia Jean, the multi-instrumentalist who cut her teeth in the Third Man stable backing folks as varied as Karen Elson, Wanda Jackson and Jack White in addition to fronting the much-loved Black Belles. Jean has accrued a lifetime of experience in a few short years, from highlight performances on The Colbert Report, Conan, Late Show With David Letterman and The Grand Old Opry stage to having one of her songs used as the theme for the television series Elvira’s Movie Macabre.
Produced by Jack White, Bathtub Love Killings showcases Jean as a songwriting force to be reckoned with. Playing damn-near every instrument she could get her hands on, the result is a well-rounded, catchy record that’s chock-a-block full of ear worm moments.

Yes it was a GREAT album. I listen to it quite a bit too. Really unique. Jack White really has a knack for discovering artists who bring something completely different (and much needed!) to music.
Funny, that she is is wife now and just met him with a demo at a dead weather show... Keep your dreams up guys!
Her innocence is totally endearing. She's very talented and highly listenable. Thankfully Jack White had the vision to foster this talent. I just hope "the biz" doesn't make her jaded and hard.

I love Jack White. I love the concept of TMR. But sometimes I feel like he produces every album on his label in the same manner, regardless of who the artist is. He always makes it sound like HIS music. Just an observation...

Hiring a recording artist as a producer is a devil’s bargain. If you want to have creative control, don’t do it.

TMR / Jack are usually fairly savvy, but this has all the subtlety of a grenade. I'm sure the PR team will erase my message, but at least my opinion has been communicated if only momentarily.

Rlaz 123 Nah, more like truth-aid. If stating the obvious makes me "bitter," then so be it. Notice that I've said nothing directly about Olivia or the quality of her music. Personally, I'll pass on it based on the clips I listened to, but TMR's approach to promoting her just seems awkward.
