much of that time Russia and the eastern block countries were dominant at the World Championships/Olympics the first time the US Women's Gymnastics team won an Olympic Team All Around medal was 1992 in Barcelona it was Bronze Russia won Gold and Romania Silver and the only other time since that the US won team Bronze was 2000 in Sydney in part due to the miss setting of the Vaulting table nearly 2in shorter than it was supposed to be which caused several Gymnasts to fall on their vaults Agnes Keleti turned 103 earlier this year

I gotta admit, I sometimes miss having all the eastern European teams in the mix the last decade or so (not Russia though.) It's so sad to think that these once-powerhouses now can't even field a full team. I know it's because of the government funded training back when they were communists, with strict and even harsh training, so in that respect it's definitely better for the girls now, but I still miss seeing them at Worlds and the Olympics.

The first Worlds was in 1908, they included women in 1934
