  • Pushing my limits a little too much on this hardtail Mountain Bike ride down "The Luge" which is a Black diamond trail right off the Santiago truck trails. Luckily I survived and made a friend after. for this MTB ride I did notice my brakes were a major limiting factor for me causing my hands to tire out very quick and not be able to confidently go down the faster stuff. I did learn a lot from this ride and will be looking forward to hitting The Luge mtb trail again in my full suspension mountain bike later this year.

    Like with your other videos I really enjoy to watch your MTB vidz. How bold you are taking this steep and gnarly trails with that cheap hardtail! I recomend some safety gear if you consider riding downhill frequently. I don´t want´t to see you get hurt!

    You should get a wider bar, 785 mm, and lower the angle on your brakes, that makes your wrists stronger and more control when braking. And thin kneepads will make you dear that first step hill down ;) awesome ride 🤙🏼

    I used to race dirt bikes and rode trails a lot, something that I did to I guess keep my focus is sing a repetitive song over and over. Not really sing but just to your self. It established a rhythm when there isn’t any rhythm on trails.

    hey man good stuff there, well im no expert by any means, but if riding 60 to 80 klm at a time for the last years, pretty much climbing and downhill riding call for some experience i would say that trail didnt look so hard for that bike or brakes, u probably were to tense, i couldn't see how was your braking technique, but the way i do is i only brake with one finger usually the middle finger , the rest of my hand and fingers are on the handle it self. that way i can grab the handle with less strength, and if thats oil brake one finger brake should be easy, at least its for me. And i do brake both brakes but all depends on the situation of course. Today i did an amazing ride by the side of a river , the trail got several klm of slipery rocks and mud with some fast parts in a very skinny trail surround by tress even from the top of the head..

      by the way .. really shame on that conditioning for sure hehehe ... that ride wasn't even enough for a warm up :) either way don't sugest doing that stuff alone... better always have someone else with u , even for easy stuff... shit happens when u dont expect alwayssssss

    • @TrueRacerAcademy
      @TrueRacerAcademy  Před 5 lety +1

      Yea I am probably a bit too tense, one of the issue with the brake was that I ran out of range on the lever so I was not able to apply the full braking force even when I squeezed harder and trust me I kept squeezing harder.

      Also there was a 3 mile 1000ft flimb to get here but that really isnt anything, Not having someone with me is also another reason I was using discretion over valor in most cases.
