If you see the episode in full, I'm the designer of those luxurious bath tubs that they had to winch up the lift shaft.

Grand Designs is one of those programmes you watch when there’s nothing else on, tonight flicking through the channels I hit gold, don’t know how I missed this, the project and the building is awesome, amazing, thrilling… As a designer myself, and a lover of Victorian industrial architecture, I had goose bumps watching the project unfold, and I totally get it! Fantastic job, and you saved a beautiful building! Seems like the new owners love it too ❤️❤️❤️

So according to an article online, they purchased the building for £380k in 2010. They spent £2 million to restore it. The house was originally listed for £3.6 million but they ended up selling for £2.75 million in 2021.
A profit of £375k over 11 years is not great but profit is profit. Shame they couldn't keep the home.

Living in California I watched this build in full years and years ago. It was amazing to behold. It was sad that the developer put it on the market as soon as the build was complete. It was only always about making money.

@@leighosborne6973 I hope you enjoyed bath tubs. The large Isis bath is one of my original designs making this episode one of my 'as seen on TV' moments. Congratulations on such a magnificent project.

Most of the people on Grand Designs sell up a few years later, either to pay off the debts from building it, or because their dream home simply isn't practical to actually live in.

seriously, the debt these men must have occured would buy a small island somewhere in the pacific. the view of london doesn't do it for me. ill take the small pacific island and fresh coconuts rather than noise, neighbours and traffic. beach wins for me personally. i enjoyed watching this though. grand designs is enjoyable for me.have a great day folks.
