  • I think it’s safe to say the best part about Red Lobster is their Cheddar Bay Biscuits! Those hot, steamy, garlicky, Cheddary biscuits are probably one of the greatest restaurant appetizers of all time. You can now make an exact replica at home and it'll only take you 15 minutes to get them in the oven!

    #RedLobster #Biscuits are really easy to make at home.
    If you’ve never made homemade biscuits, this is a great recipe to start with and you’re about to be shocked at just how easily they come together. #CheddarBayBiscuits have just a few special ingredients that transform them from your standard biscuit to something irresistibly crave-worthy.
    HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
    8 tablespoons cold, unsalted butter + 2 tablespoons melted butter (separated)
    2 cups All-Purpose flour
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt plus a pinch
    1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    2/3 cup freshly grated cheddar cheese
    2 tablespoons freshly minced Italian parsley
    1 cup buttermilk
    HOW TO MAKE THEM:
    1. Cut the Butter - Cut cold butter into tiny cubes and set aside until ready to use.
    2. Mix Dry Ingredients - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and garlic powder.
    3. Cut In Butter - Using a pastry blender, cut the cubed butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse, small peas.
    4. Add Cheese, Parsley, and Buttermilk - Stir in the Cheddar and parsley. Then, using a sturdy spoon, stir in the buttermilk just until the dough comes together. Do not over mix.
    5. Drop Dough Onto Baking Sheet - Drop heaping spoonfuls of dough (about 2-3 tablespoons worth - we actually used an ice cream scoop for these biscuits) onto the sheet pans, spacing each 2 inches apart, and bake for 10-13 minutes.
    6. Once the biscuits have finished baking, brush them with the melted butter and enjoy!

      Aw, thank you, Pinay!!! There are so many variables that go into when and why to use each one. I’ll try to keep that in mind as these ingredients come up in future videos and give a little more explanation as to why I used one or the other 😘

      They reheat ok after buttered. Its not quite the same as fresh from oven just buttered. When I reheat mine I spritz em with a water sprayer and then about 5min 350 to toast. Like a misting of water not the faucet. Since your plan is to save for next day, save the butter till them.

    I want to prep the night before and bake it in the morning for my coworkers. Can I freeze the dough?

    • @TheAnthonyKitchen
      @TheAnthonyKitchen  Před 3 lety +5

      Yes, you can freeze the dough! To freeze the dough, I would refrigerate it until chilled, then scoop, and transfer to an airtight, freezer-safe container. Separate each layer of dough with a sheet of wax paper (including the bottom), seal tightly and freeze!
      Add 2-3 minutes to the total bake time if the biscuits are going into the oven frozen.
      Hope that helps!

    Hi, can I use self rising flour?

    • @TheAnthonyKitchen
      @TheAnthonyKitchen  Před 2 lety

      No, I would not recommend that! Self-rising flour has chemical leaveners in it, and since we use them in this recipe, you definitely need to be in full control of the quantity going in.

    Is buttermilk a must or can you also use regular milk?

    • @TheAnthonyKitchen
      @TheAnthonyKitchen  Před rokem +1

      You can use regular milk, but they might have the rise or be as tender since the acidity level will be lower :)
