The small pocket is where the pre-2021 builds had side vents, instead of center console vents in the rear. They also came with third row vents and low speed transfer case standard.

Great vehicle - Discovery Sport has been a joy to own these past 6 or so years, an absolute pleasure ❤

Becoming increasingly interested in the “new” Discovery. We’ve had a Discovery 4 since new (2012). It has the 3.0 V6 Turbo Diesel engine and has been spectacularly comfortable, flexible and reliable. In ten years and 120,000 miles we’ve replaced one water in fuel sensor and two MAF sensors - none of these left us stranded and were dealt with under warranty.
We’re moving from The UK to Canada soon and are wondering what to buy when we get there. If the new Diesel engines were available in Canada, there wouldn’t be a question but as they’re not sold in the North American markets, we’ll have to wait and see.

The Discovery 5 came to the North America market with the 3.0 TD6 from 2017-2020. I have a 2018 HSE Lux in the US and like it quite a lot!

Good question there in the intro. Now that the Defender is fully independent suspension and unibody the lineup is now more similar than ever.

These are starting to look more and more like the Minions from behind. I wish they could broaden it a touch. My kids point it out every time we see one now I cant unsee it. The car looks awesome inside.

The odd cubbies on the B pillars is where the heater vents used to be. It looks like they down graded the HVAC distribution when compared to my 2018 Td6.

Great review, but I love the Discovery much more than the Defender. Those that buy Defenders are people who want the perception that they can drive on the Serengeti. People who buy Discoveries value luxury and style. I still have my 2002 Discovery 2, and it looks showroom new.....

  • @JohnInSale

That pocket isn’t a pocket, but the space for air vents if you pay for multizone climate control
Also you can option a better Meridian sound system, looks like this Discovery 5 isn’t the usual fully loaded press vehicle
Pity you guys don’t get the best version of this Discovery 5, the D300 3litre engine 🚜👍🏻

Buy a good battery charger and diagnostic tool if you buy one. The battery doesn't get charged on short commutes causing the low battery warning. Weak battery causes other electronic issues. Charge it once a week over night and do a reconditioning charge twice a year. The diagnostic tool allows you to set features, reset sensors and lets you know what's going on when you get a warning light. Your life with Land Rover will be much more bearable.

I have some problems with the rear view of the disco. I really do prefer the disco sport or even a defender 90, no need for brutally big inner space or 3rd seat row.
But I also have my issues with the rear end of the Velar. 🤷‍♂️
But it doesn’t matter much as they are all well above my budget. Saying that, I think Either US people spend a big part of their income in cars or I don’t see the point in driving a 70k+$ SUV. 🤷‍♂️

    • @benpenrice765
      @benpenrice765 Před 2 lety +1

If you have a big family or a certain lifestyle there is need for big interior space and a third row seat. If you had the income to purchase a vehicle of this price then I think you would see the point in doing it.

lol! That's all anyone has to say and it's over inflated. When are people going to get over the unreliability? Sure it's not a Toyota but it's not the right comparison. Land Rovers are in a whole different class.
Name another car that is as capable off road and luxurious all around. It ain't a jeep, those things are basically a side by side that can barely go on the highway.
