STRAIGHT TALK FROM THE HOMELAND #43: as investment in Armenia falls to just 12.8% of GDP in 2024, we discuss the many problems faced by investors, which ultimately have a very dangerous consequence on national security!
The five national security-related errors affecting investors that are discussed are as follows.
1. A failure to provide an appropriate investment environment, with a) a poor justice system to protect investors, b) poor communication and cooperation with the diaspora, c) incompetent governance, d) disastrous bureaucracy, e) no consumer protection and f) a failure to root out corruption and theft - resulting in a decline in investment to only 12.8% of GDP in 2024!
2. Investing 90+% in Yerevan, leaving less than 10% for the provinces!
3. Depopulating the vital southern provinces - the legs that Armenia’s body stands on to connect to Iran, India and the world - as there are few jobs and investments to attract people!
4. Planning to move all universities to Ashtarak, so tertiary education for
investor’s families and regional development is not available elsewhere!
5. Ignoring and under-prioritising Vayots Dzor - the most vulnerable province that represents Armenia’s knees - so the enemy can cut the link to Syunik and the world, rendering Armenia as an unviable state without mobility and connections!

Thank you👍
Totally agree with you on everything. It’s a big mess and this must change asap otherwise will get worse
I think your advice should be heard at the highest level of the State. You are absolutely right in your analysis, and it is evident that concentrating everything in Yerevan is a very bad idea.
Last year, I did notice that the government had invested in refurbishing the roads in the south, which is a good start, but there are still many things to improve.
I also find it unfortunate that all the truck freight transport causes so much pollution in this beautiful nature.
Armenia must develop ecology, recycling, and raise awareness among the population on the subject.
In any case, I admire your determination and resilience despite the obstacles you had to overcome to carry out your project successfully.
Maybe we will visit you one day...
I wish you all the best.
Thank you very much indeed for your supportive words. It isn't easy to deliver the truth in Armenia, as many blame the messenger as we say, and people would far rather listen to positive matters. But with good people providing encouragement, hopefully we can make a difference (if the messages are heard at the highest levels as you say).
you mentioned Eric, when I listen to him and the way he praises Armenia and its democratic system, I feel Armenia is like Switzerland. I hope things will be better for you, but you need to be patient, Armenia was under communist system for over 70 years, corruption, poor management, Armenia need an Technocratic system to advance, otherwise, no future
Len would you consider selling the property?
We're unsure. Every person has their price, even if this is our dream and we've put our soul into the place. It's best to book a stay so one can understand the pros and cons, and whether the potential of being next to one of the greatest treasures of mankind and Armenia's best views is as expected.
@@straighttalkfromthehomelan9258 would you consider $600,000

Unfortunately you have to fit in with the country you are in, Good or bad.
The Tax audit was a classic example.
I am not saying it's right, but you do need to work within the established culture before you can change it .
It's actually illegal in Armenia for an official to engage in corrupt conduct like the tax official did, so this has nothing to do with 'fitting in', but simply trying to get people to be professional and follow the rules, so other investors don't experience the same. Likewise, unlike Europe where you are which is already modern and relatively easy to 'fit in', Armenia is not developed, so change is necessary if it is to survive and thrive. Thus as explained on the video, there would be no point coming here unless we can help them make those changes for a positive future. You can't compare the situations in any way.
