  • Lets start putting this bike back together. All these hoses are a pain! Coolant hoses, fuel hoses, tank hoses - where do they all go?!!

    I kept hooking up #13 to the vent and it kept dying. One of the best videos I’ve seen. Very detailed. We really appreciate you!

    Those bikes have the exact wheelbase rake and trail as a 916 Ducati not as racy but a better more durable and powerful twin.I own a 98 and the brakes are weak and spongy and suspension is soft but ok , but they are stable and handle so easy and great.

      Glad it could help. Wish I could have done a cleaner production of it. Hard working with one hand on the camera.

    Thank you had hose 13 attached to the tank but could not find where it went on the bike. New it was a vacuum hose but could not find it for looking

      Glad the video could help. It sure is a mess of hoses under that tank! I've seen under a lot of different bikes and this one has been the worst.

    Did 14 get connected to anything? (Long thin pipe from the front carb on the right side)

  • @matts2581
    @matts2581 Před 3 lety

    Fit the coolant heating tubes first, and the carb chokes fittings next; front first, rear second - prior to mounting the carbs to the intake boots. Should make note as to what the TPS sensor read prior to mounting for future reference - it can be done with them mounted, but it's more of a hassle. Reference my previous notes concerning the front portion of the lower half of the airbox for the one tube interfacing to the front carb - be ready for it. I also have made use of multi-colored fingernail polish to color-mark male/female fittings during a disassembly/reassembly from the Dollar Tree.

    Hi. At 5:10 I’d love to know where the other end of hose number 11 goes please.

      Hi Duncan, man wish I could tell you off hand but I have since sold the bike so can't go out and look. It may be possible to see me catch it in one of the other videos. I tried searching online for you, but only see the top half of the hose and not where it follows through. Wish I could have gotten better pictures when doing these videos but had no helper with the camera.

    Hi, questions- rear cyl. Vacuum goes to PAIR and does the front cyl.goes to the petcock ?? Manual say rear n pair and it’s a mystery for the petcock??
    Thoughts ? Thanks

    • @matts2581
      @matts2581 Před 3 lety +1

      Based on the US (non-California model) the 1/8" size hose coming off the front carb' goes to the PAIR, and the rear cylinder head has a 1/8" going to the petcock. ...I think I've got that down - I know where everything goes after all these years of ownership, but don't have it right off the top of my head...

    It's been 10 years on this build, man....... when you gonna finish it?! Kidding aside, keep it up. From all accounts this is a great bike, a bit of a hidden gem.

      Yes no doubt it's taking forever with these videos! I do apologize. I have a couple more and then am going to move on to a new project.

    Please dont ever eat on camera again. Most annoying thing about trying to learn something is someone smacking for 5 mins while trying to teach anything. I got a 2001 super hawk and it was a project someone else started. The fairings were off. Air box is gone. Hoses everywhere but nothing is connected. So this was helpful after you smacking for what seemed like an hr. Thanks. .

    Hello!! My vtr 1000 is overflowing fuel into engine, and coming out from it exhaust

    • @threeboysgarage
      @threeboysgarage  Před 2 lety

      Hi, it sounds like your carbs needs to re-built and/or it's jetting much too rich. Is it all stock?

      clean fuel chamber and check a float valve or take a rubber hammer and just a little tap on the side of fuel chamber(I try this on my CM400T, overfloating problem fuel leaking from fuel chamber, its a problem if the carb motorcycles are not driven more than once a two weeks)
