After living in Alaska for 13 years and, having watched the Iditarod first hand, I've known alot about the race and why they run the Iditarod but I never knew the whole story until watching the two movies done about the 1925 serum run including this one, the Disney copy. Now I know the whole story and I have an appreciation for, and especially Togo, for what was all accomplished during the serum run. My hat goes off to Togo and I love this dog...
Well, .....I have only known Balto! However, the fact that Togo runs longer and faster makes me respect all sled dogs, including Togo and Balto and of course Seppala, the owner! By the way, I need to confess that it's genuinely adorable to see Williem acts in one of Disney's movie s.
Shame all this time Togo was put 2nd to Balto.Togo ran such a longer distance but didn't get his dues. Both teams were great but facts is facts TOGO you are the Greatest of all!!

This is about Togo who was the runner before him who ran roughly 4 times as far in the most volatile conditions. I'd suggest doing some research, it's honestly quite fascinating.

Movies tend to be over dramatic, I'm sure the journey wasn't that hard and Togo not that old and weak. Besides journeys like this need experience and Togo was the most experienced of all the dogs.

Togo, without detracting from it, of course, received recognition because his owner was a friend and employee of Linderberg, and it was through this famous personage in the USA, that a national tour was organized to publicize the feat, the movie intermingling part of the history of Balto. Balto was a hero by himself, Togo is a manufactured hero thanks to Linderberg's support.
