I’ve noticed that whenever I read a manga after watching the anime adaptation, the manga always feels super fast paced. I think it’s just because one chapter takes like 8 minutes to read max, whereas in the anime they have to fit that one chapter into 20 minutes.

lol i love unwind with my whole heart. i feel it goes more in depth and the world building gets better as the series goes on. it makes more sense as to how the society came to be as the series went on and it’s also way better explained in the collection of short stories that was released after the series concluded :)))

I’m super late but I loved it too. Spoiler alert but Connor’s unwinding made me sob and Starkey’s death as well as Roland’s unwinding was super intense. I just loved it overall and it was the first book series to actually make me feel stuff.

Everyone always brings up the romance in Scythe. To me, it made no difference.
It didn’t distract or detract from the purpose of the story or the plot. I thought Scythe as a whole was extremely well executed. I have not yet read Thunderhead but want to very soon.

I read the entire unwind series when I was in middle school. The first one wasnt the best but if you read further into the series you get the full world building available.

Cindy, I think you would get a lot out of reading SCRUM: The Art of Doing Twice the Work in Half the Time. It goes into some examples of multi vs single tasking, and while geared towards software development, he also brings up a lot of examples where it can be used in any team setting. He tends to pull in a lot of research and I think you could pull a lot from it.

Fruits Basket is like, my favorite story of all time, and the whole series is great - but I still agree that the anime does a way better job at portraying the story lmao.
Watchin' all your book reviews is actually kinda helpful to me as someone who writes in their spare time, just having fun building worlds and characters and stuff. I'm starting to realise a lot of the faults in the world that need fixing and I'm starting to focus more on making certain characters feel more real. In general you've made me realise that, if I weren't the author, a lot of things would make less sense or be more exhausting to read, and some things aren't as clear as I thought. So thanks I guess.
Another thing I've been doing is imagining you reading the book title and if it sounds good I keep it lol

Okay yes the romance sucked in Scythe - but Thunderhead is SOOOOOOO good! It goes way further and the romance is literally only 2% of it.
i agree that thunderhead was better bc the romance was very minor lol. i still think that scythe would've been better if they were just childhood friends instead!

Now I’m nervous to reread Unwind. I was planning to reread it because I read it almost five years ago and liked it but never continued on with the series which I own all of.
On the other hand I now want to read An Enchantment of Ravens. I had heard mixed reviews, but hearing that you thought it was cute and fluffy i can adjust my expectations and I’m excited.

I agree Fruits Basket 2001 was superior! Just because the reboot has a better animation style doesn't mean it'll stab you in the feels like the 2001 version.

Unwind is the best fuck indeed. :) Neal explains a lot in the later books. Personally I didn't have any issues with him not explaining how this happened in the first book. When I read the premise, I thought No way this was gonna work. But then after 50 pages, I totally believed it. And as I said, there's a rich history and world building as well in the rest of the series.
i think maybe if i read this when i was younger i would've been more into it, but my tastes are different now haha

I can highly recommend 'olive kitteridge', I think it's a really nice book that ties different people's lives in the same small town together, and displays well how some people have a hard time understanding what their actions has done to their surroundings. I know I'll be looking forward to the sequel 'olive again'. :) great video as always Cindy😊📚

hi cindy! new subscriber here, since you've read the court series i hIGHLY SUGGEST READING THRONE OF GLASS by the same author. its so much better than ACOTAR in my opinion, but its longer (eight books). i want to know your thoughts about it! i personally liked the plot lines and twists! xo

Oh yeah the tangents Cal Newport went on were way too long and unnecessary - I felt like a third of the book was about how Lincoln actually liked to spend some time alone. I'm glad you liked Make Time, I just moved it to a higher priority shelf on Goodreads haha :- )
totally agree, it felt like cal newport was just trying to add more length to his book. and i think if you enjoy jake knapp's other book Sprint, you would like Make Time!

I love Unwind! I read it when I was like 13 and not a particularly critical reader, but there was a scene that I still sometimes think about to this day. I thought that was bc it was powerful, but maybe I was just traumatized 😂😂
