- In this video you can see us preparing for grass harvesting season which should start in a couple of weeks. I sharpen the blades on our Pottinger self-loading wagon, clean up our two empty silos and one of the two hay lofts. We set up new pasture for our heifers and deal with some straw bales.
Being a small dairy farm, only family members work on it.
Living and working on a farm can sometimes be difficult but it is still a great way to live.

Farmer's POV (Point of View) is a channel where I share videos of different chores that are going on on our small family farm in Slovenia. We have 60 heads of cattle, mainly simmetal breed and we milk about 35 of them. We farm in a fairly hilly area so our equipment is relatively small. Currently we own 4 tractors: Fiat DT55-56, New Holland TN70DA, Deutz Fahr Agroplus 85 and John Deere 5085M.We work around 20 hectares of mainly grass fields and about 2,5 hectares for silage corn. We also have 7 hectares of forest.
The calf loves open spaces
They love to run and jump around
It's good for their well being
I'm always impressed with how clean your cows are turned out, they look happy and content.

Great video! Your ability to organize what needs to be done and then to smoothly transition from one job to the next is admirable. Your conciousness and attention to the details of doing a job right is first rate! I've never worked with a farmer who was even close to being so organized. The system of pallets in the hay loft is simple, but extremely effective. How you handle the straw is brilliant! I love seeing the cattle on the Spring pasture. The calf was too frisky for that small pen. Made me laugh to watch it jump around. Plus you're a good musician! What a beautiful place you have and an even better life.

I am amazed at how tall your grass is already. Here in upstate NY the grass is just beginning to grow. We do not have cows out on pasture yet.

Can you please explain the large screw and press that is outside the shed door?
Its an old fruit press, with the screw you screwed the big wooden beam down to press fruit or grapes that was under it, in some kind of a wooden basket. At least I think so, we don't use it anymore 😁
