Indeed. He did a raw pov paddle out at Wiamea and was "turtle rolling" his gun under some huge foamy walls, pretty impressive. That was last winter, check it out if tou get a chance.

watching those heavy ass waves coming at you over and over.. I nearly drowned here in my living room
surfers can appreciate this and know the feeling of paddling out in those conditions. one needs to be in top physical shape; endurance, cardiovascular, to deal with such conditions. just knowing how to surf or even being a good surfer is not enough. waves look small with gopro but are much bigger in reality.
I wish you did more raw povs bro no music no editing, just the reality of what it's like out there. and nobody can really beat you to posting clips cause youll have the gopro view
I think the super dramatic music in the old videos diminishes it. I def prefer raw vids. I like pov for the paddle aspect but the way it makes 20 foot waves look just overhead is pretty whelming.

Came home from work and this is first video I watched today. Exactly what I needed. Been beaten down all week and Nate’s reality in this vid just rocks. Idk how you paddle with the mouth GoPro camera. I’d lose that thing immediately. Another great vid Nate!

@@ponolovefarms3926 I don't know for sure, but heard him talk about first big explosion where lip hits, then a break, then the white water turbulence. He might've stopped to stay in the break, while paddling and duckdiving forward would take him too close to where the lip hit? But I've no idea really, hoping someone more knowledgeable can weigh in.

You're that big grom who hunts the inside tweeners between 1st and 2nd reef. I love that approach because it means you know the exact wave you're hunting and looking for. Only problem is getting rolled by a big 2nd reef bomb and snapping your leash. But like the true water dog you are, you bodysurfed the whitewash in quick fast.
Wow that was impressive how quickly you got in. I'd rather snap my board than my leash on huge days because at least I have something to float on. I'm at the age where I'd be on the beach most likely though lol.

There`s no glamour in this surf professional world. Lots of beatings, hard work, and some rewarding. We just seat in the couch and relax. Nathan you`re a beast. Going to the north shore in january, I hope I can talk to you. Old doc from Brazil, mid shape, looking for Rocky`s or something similar. Or just going to enjoy the show, if it`s too big.

I got in very fast, if you see there was a dude in same situation no board broken leash, but he didnt use waves to push himself in like i did i was able to use two waves and a bodysurf to get to shore quick get another leash and return to lineup

No sandbar, it’s all reef that he’s trekking over which makes it even more ridiculous.
@@michaelwhitfield4230 Pipe’s a reef break yes but there’s sandbars right next to it by the channel, Gums and Ehukai. Looks like paddled to channel first then caught one of the sandbar waves in. Either way that was crazy!

I think the sideways duckdive is due to where the lip was coming down. He was perfectly in the impact zone, if he ducked straight the lip will catch his legs? This is what I thought when I saw it. I am a surfer too.
