This is a simplifications, but what basically happens is the polarizer on the display and the polarization of the sunglasses are not necessarily the same orientation. If they are opposite, you can't see anything. If they are the same, you can see normally. There is no "standard" for if a polarizer is vertical or horizontal.
You can test this with a pair of sunglasses and any polarized LCD display (like in your car or a watch). If the display is black with sunglasses on, turn your head 90 degrees and you will be able to see the display just fine.
The polarization of LCDs is necessary for their function, without them, you wouldn't see any clear image. It's not strictly for glare-reduction although they do do that a little.

I’m always looking forward to Fridays when you post videos. It’s an interesting point that you make about polarized lenses. I would think the opposite that it wouldn’t create glare. The Beetlejuice haha. Thanks for another great video FO!❤✈️

Isn't the floating bridge above Lake Washington the one that heads into the Univ. of Wash. ? I thought you guys would point out Husky Stadium at one end of it. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, Go Cougs ! Sometimes it's good NOT to see the huckin' Fuskies."
