After doing so many parking stalls you acquire "the eye" to make that starting point right on the snap line eliminating the use of time wasted placing shingles. By the time he explains to me why he wants to use shingles I'm already done with a whole row of parking stall lines.but I understand if you only got one parking lot to do with 30 stall and all day to do and 3 guys to spare sure I would put them to do something like that.
I been doing asphalt for 25 years and I have never had to put tape down see where existing stripes were. And it’s called asphalt not ashpalt and always remember it’s gypsy country
We do big lots, we chain the ends of the stalls - we can see the end of the stall through the sealcoat. Then we boogie, no time to put down those pieces at the end of the stalls just gotta be nice with it
@@juliangarzes7157 I 100% along with my co workers would have at LEAST half the stalls done while he was putting those things down. With a ride along, marked out with a paint gun done in a 3rd of the time theyre taking haha
Looks like some rookie striping to me , throttle is way to low so is your pressure . And You don’t need shingles a true striper starts and stops on the baseline. .. clean though..

lol I have never seen someone rocking a shirt repping the phantom 4 drone on it. And one more question, after reviewing this guys channle, why does he use shingles to block paint from hitting a certain spot? He could literally use anything like cardboard, does he really go buy a bundle of shingles like twice a month? haha.
My striper operator is good enough he dont need shingles. And if you cant see the impression of the old stripe without using masking tape, visit an eye doctor. Keeping the ends straight, use a chalkline there also. Oh yeah, 1980 called, they want their striping machine back.🤣 Its now called a Graco.
Right... I use u buggy/rider and I chalk everything, but never use tape or shingle etc... my lines are pretty much always on the money and never more than maybe 1/4in on all starts and stops.. so yeah get a better painter, save the time and money using start and stop shit lol

@davestrand Great video Dave. I am new to this and trying to acquire my first client. Any tips on how to reach out to commercial property owners to do this kind of work? I've tried email but I get nothing. Thanks!
I have striped for past 15 years and Your line look horrible, your machine cant keep up u loosing pressure edges of line are not crisp at all almost looks like its done with spray can , U need to rebuild the pump change the the little rubber gasket inside tip gurd, no need to put a tape a blind guy can see that line
r1lukasz nigga stf you never did this kind of job your meanless life, his line are more then perfect you can clearly see in the video there is nothing wrong in there you are just full of crap

I mean he's asking people to buy a bundle of shingles for $30 just to stop the paint from hitting the street, this nigga could hit up a cardboard dumpster and get some thick quality cardboard and spend nothing on each job instead of buying shingles like an idiot. Now back to what I was getting at, don't bash R1lukasz for no reason, what we really should be doing is making fun of this old man. nah mean?
@@lookherelooklisten7850 Well its everything but perfect , only rookies use shingles because they don't know when to pull a trigger it takes years to practice and by look Im sure they just picked up this machine of cl that someone didn't know how to repack the pump so Dave Strand got ripped off thinking he got a great deal on it and the owner of that lot if he payed him

the masking tape isnt there to stay, he just puts it there to rip it off after they seal it so they can "see" the line, even though its pretty easy to see anyway since the paint is so thick it comes off the ground like almost a whole millimeter...
Paint thinned to much got bounce back on edges and gee using shingles to do what a proper set up machine and good operator is wasted manpower take to long.

Thanks for the video. Me and my dad just bought a 3400 line stripper. Very helpful video. Defiantly going to use the chalk lines and shingles
I do work striping parking lots , we don’t put a shield in the baseline at all, I start every single stole line by feeling all the time!

If u pop a string on every stripe and the asphalt shifts like u say, won't u still get crooked lines?
You probably don’t have a big parking lot, but your own driveway will work just fine

Nice job but I hope you didn't seal coat that lot. Lots of cracking going on, looks like crappy prep work.
Won’t the masking tape wear away easily?

No need for the shingle and a 15 gallon hopper and a rider makes job easier
Welp wont ever buy a titan now
