  • An easy quick way to measure out a parking lot. I've measured thousands of parking lots using these simple instructions. Hope it helps the new guys out and teaches the veterans maybe a trick or two.

    What you don't use 9' 12" 15'???? To square up a 90° That's what we professional use. From the 90° sqaure up point you'll get your 60°angle by measuring 7'6". You always have to have a baseline ( that's where all your painted lines begin ) which is typically 18' per code but really could be what ever you want it to be.

    Might I suggest two things: First, shoot horizontally (landscape.) It fills the frame better. Secondly, invest in a wireless lavalier (sp?) mic, it will help with your audio when talking to the camera.

    So you made 9fts half way through, but when you finshed the rest all the way down what was the last stalls length? Was it 9 foot like the rest? and have you ever encounterd this if so what do you do personally? Thank you

    • @michaeljacobs9885
      @michaeljacobs9885 Před 2 lety +1

      For new layout, I measure the entire length and use a framing calculator to calculate how many stalls. A lot of time they will be 9’2” or some odd number but then your line will be flush at the end.

    We have been in business for 70 years and that's basically how we still layout and it works. Except I would have made 9' marks along the curb as long as the curb is straight then swing a square, that way you are 90 degrees with the curbing.

    • @NoName-be5ir
      @NoName-be5ir Před rokem +1

      After ya lay it out pop the 18ft lines, do y’all spray on the side of the line or spray center of the line.
      Thinking if you spray and the line is center of your paint then the parking space becomes smaller than 9 ft.
      But if you spray to the same side of each line it would stay a true 9 ft space?

    Me and my team have been renewing our business lots around the US and learned that Fox Valley is the industry mainstay for materials. They've been around for almost 50 years and this is their specialty. Their machines and paints are clearly of a much higher quality than any of the home improvement store brands. Their new site is FOXVALLEYPAINT.COM

    Love your squaring method! Quick tip to improve chalk bleeding through your paint. Pull a rope tight from mark to mark and spray the rope with tracking gun. Marks will remain if you must pull off for rain, no bending over, and much more efficient.

      Jack Attali a tracking gun is a krylon 34" marking wand that sprays upside down spray paint on our layout rope. Then we follow the void left by the rope. Quicker and easier on the back

    You need to factor in if the curb is at a angle so the way it was laid out in your video is incorrect the line could be straight but the stalls could not be perfect 9" spaces.
