Hi, saw some other reviews mentioning that the Honor Magic 5 pro can't record 4k video using the ultrawide, is it true?
It actually yes
It can record 4k but only at 30 fps not 60
In my opinion, apart from the video stabilization and microphone quaality, the Magic 5 Pro was the clear winner in this comparison. Good job honor 👍

obviously, the magic 5 pro has much more advanced hardware, bigger sensors, better tele etc.
honor gets the color right most of the time, better than the other two.
I personally thought most of the Honor ones were better.
Hopefully the next couple of updates will put that right.

The Ultra is the all around winner. It was as professional quality as you can get in a phone. The iPhone while good did not fare that well against the Magic

I like those darker night shots from the Honor, the other two are too bright to my mind, they are kinda unrealistic.

Here indoors the S23 Ultra fails when I try to catch my two boys (2,5 and 5 years old) running around, they are totally blurred.
Honor M5P did a good job against these 2 giants expensive phones! The camera quality nothing felt really far behind. Being the cheapest here, quite a bargain for those looking for an excellent Android camera phone if can't afford the S23U.
How on earth is 1100-1200 euros for the Honor a bargain?? S23U is 1200 euro, but it has better cameras, much better software features, a longer and faster software support, and a stylus.
@@s-plus wake up fanboy. Samdung just gets an extra year of updates at the moment and possibly faster updates. Samdung doesn't have a REAL 3D face unlock like Honor, WAY slower charging, Honor cameras are better than what Samsung offers except perhaps selfies. Samsung has a worse display in the S23U versus the Honor, the S23 series has a worse design (in my opinion), I'm sure Honor's design is more premium as well, for less than £1000 . The same price as the BASE S23, which let's be honest, doesn't come close to the Honor Magic5 Pro.
@@s-plus hi, & I'm talking regarding the camera capabilities. Of course I think the overall package Samsung would be better for most people. And you referring to Europe's pricing. In Malaysia M5p 12+512gb is priced at less than 900 euro & S23U 512gb is more than 1200 euro (after conversion) & still need to fork more money for fast charger 😬. My wife is using S23U now & I already pre-ordered M5P as I think the overall package suits me better.
@@s-plus depends where you buy. S23u is either £1400-£1200. H5P is £950-£850. The H5P isn't the outright winner. but cost/quality it's a good deal.
H5P will probably be my next phone.

Apple has been lazy for several iterations. It's been awhile since they had the best cameras. So many years that I don't remember when.
@@sflxn the best for video. I have a note 20 ultra and used iphone 12 pro and iphone 13 pro as the iphone 14 plus and all are way worst as photos quality , details and night mode. Only the videos are better without discussing it.

The S23U does pull ahead in videography for having better mic outputs, zoom etc whereas quality itself is still better on the iPhone but not by huge margin.
For photography, I straight up preferred the Magic 5 Pro in most instances.
It's been years since I've watched any camera comparison videos as in depth as this, and I have to say, I'm impressed at how good all of these are, although there is obviously still room for improvement

Photo/video on a smartphone is always going to be a compromise across different media. Again, I think the S23 Ultra does the best job overall. But I don't see, still, any pressing need to upgrade my 3 year old S20+. Smartphones have seen camera improvements, in terms of image and video quality, plateau in recent years, even though they trumpet new hardware.
wow the magic5 pro is beast, the only not so good area is that it does not have that 10x optical zoom... aside from that, its amazing and will be swapping my s23 ultra for it.
The best flagship offering all rounder for that price.

Great comparison as always. It really seems like Honor has made one of the only phones on the market that can truly compete at the top end across the board with apple and Samsung on cameras without any obvious shortcomings. Actually seeing 4K on a front camera from a Chinese manufacturer is a major result to start with. Love the way the low light shots retain detail but aren't artificially exposed. This was the camera system Oppo and Xiaomi should have made. If only Honor could refine magic OS so its on par visually and functionality wise with the likes of ColourOS and miui.
You're saying magic os is even worse than MIUI? No way... This phone is £950+ in the UK right now what a joke
@@ulysses4989 nah i said miui and colour OS have more features and look better visually. Optimization and performance is another matter. Honor pricing for their flag ship is high but still cheaper compared to their competition, like s23 ultra, iphone 14 pro max, Xiaomi 13 pro, Oppo x6 pro all over a £1000.

It's all personal in the end... we all know that. However moving personal aside and taking the unit price in consideration! - Honor is a very good phone. You get most of what other phones offer for quite a bit less and it ain't a joke, considering that Magic comes with 12 ROM and 500 GB of internal storage! and a very capable battery as well. Big YES to Honor!!!

Yes it does. April update the "camera update" all phones have the latest firmware always before I start a camera comparison.

S23U has better ultrawide video (EIS) than the iPhone 14 Pro and 13 Pro. Main video the iphone is very detailed and 4k60 is still it's strength. However! The S23U audio is far superior to all the iphones and its zoom camera.

Since the night mode of thr honor isn't good. How about sunsets? I don't shoot night pictures at all but a lot of sunsets which is really important for me. My huawei p20 takes good sunset shots. Nice warm colours 😊

*Huawei/Honor actually has a great imaging pipeline.* They just need to focus on the video aspect. Apple's low light videos are the best but Samsung takes the crown in rest of areas.
I'm currently using the magic 5 pro from s23 ultra. Night mode doesn't seem to work. It's so dark. But every single picture has so much better details n less noise than the s23 ultra.

What a difference a clean lens makes!!! It allows us to have an unbiased conclusion of the S23u being the best among the 3, however the Magic 5 is also very good.

Yes as it seems portrait video at 4k doesn't use stabilization or very little of it.

Vuelvo a opinar que en cámaras premium donde se dirime la batalla es en las situaciones complicadas ya que en buenas condiciones las diferencias son mínimas. Las cámaras delanteras ninguna es gran cosa, para variar, aunque quizá Apple ahí se porte mejor. En las traseras sigo pensando que está un punto por encima el honor. Y más teniendo en cuenta que por lo que he leído ni siquiera es su software definitivo. Así que entiendo que irá mejorado.

It is very simple to see which has the best camera, go to 8:17 and read on the warning board in the upper right corner. The rest is subjective and it's up to the software. In this case the winner is the cheapest

Honor is doing very well, it needs to work on video, because there (for me) iPhone is the best. If we talk about photography, more or less everyone is on par, but Honor does a very good job

I bought the Magic 5 PRO and the photo quality has blown me away. For video, iPhone is better, but for photos, I like more the images from Honor.
I dont get why s23 ultra is exposing video that much, that's the one thing iPhone for me got right. But from what Ive seen you can still get iPhones more contrasty and more real exposed image with a pro mode. Otherwise it seems like noisy mess in low light that you can clearly see on 14 inch display, let alone 55 inch 4K TVs
Honor 5 for the win really, some better quality pictures and when you compare the price of these 3 phones

The Samsung S23 Ultra video is basically a small micro-step behind of the iPhone, while the Honor is a few steps behind. For HDR, Honor has a good handle on it while Samsung and Apple, as usual, overdo the HDR.
My Rankings for overall this video:
1. Samsung S23 Ultra ( by the slimest of margins)
2. Honor(video is somewhat weak)
3.Apple iPhone 14pro max( not a bad overall camera, just that most Androids have caught up with it)
To be fair I expect Honor to be much worst than those 2 buuut , I was surprised.
For me personally still 1. iPhone 14 Pro 2. Galaxy S23 Ultra and 3. Honor Magic 5 Pro for the camera comparison.
I really don't like how Samsung making their own colors in almost every picture, Samsung night photo looks like it's not night outside but it's sunset time, too much light that ruin the atmosphere , but I need to agree that video and sound quality in Galaxy it's really good, zoom is nice but I don't understand who need that zoom and for what, anyway the quality after zooming it's bad . But overall I think iPhone is more universal, you get amazing video quality, good pictures quality , natural colors .
Now, about Honor, if on the pictures quality he can easy compete and in some scenarios smesh those 2 , in video no chance, for the video, Honor is 1 step behind , video sound, stabilisation, white balance, ( 15min 4k, no 8k( I don't need it but still, it's better to have it)) .
But, iPhone is already more than half year on sale, S23 Ultra 2 months , they get a lot of updates with soft and camera improvements , they fixed the main problems and overall they show their maximum level, while Honor isn't still available for pre-orders in almost all countries and I think their engineers working hard to improve the software and camera quality. I think if we gonna do the same comparison somewhere in July 23 , Honor would show even better results, because that sensor have a lot of potential , but looks like now soft it's still a little bit raw .
Anyway, overall for the price/quality Honor Magic 5 Pro is one of the best on the market right now , I'm waiting for 19 April to pre-order it and after 4 awesome years with my amazing 1+7Pro , I'll finally change it . Thank you for the video!
I have the s23 ultra and the iPhone 14 PM, the ultra camera very often produces awful unrealistic photos .

The S23 sound quality is just unreal. The competition isn't even close.
Yes the mics and overall quality is just so good.
Actually when you listen with some decent equipment, you can hear that its completely processed and frequency response is off with some strong peeks in the treable (I would say 7.5 khz where naturally should be a dip, listening with Etymotic ER2SE). Picks up the voice really nicely but its enough to listen to his voice in the video and compare to the sound from the phones, iPhone is maby correct and more realistic sounding although doesn't really adjust to the situation... Quite impressive from samsung yes

Again apple proved that more than enough detail of video and photos aren't the thing.. what you want is a beautiful and close to natural images and videos .. and in low light conditions apples do a fantastic job .. also the image stabilisation is very high..
I have an S21 Ultra and I can't decide which of these three to replace it with. Years of Huawei ownership have left me disappointed with the Samsung's camera over the last 2 years, but with no GMS or 5G the P60 Pro isn't an option.

According to DXOMARK (an independent professional smartphones, cameras & lens evaluation & testing company) to-date Huawei P60 Pro has the best camera performance, slightly higher rating than iPhone 15 Pro Max & Samsung S23 Ultra.
Huawei latest release Mate 60 Pro+ is yet to be evaluated & tested. If evaluated & tested, probably the camera quality is at least equal or better than their earlier released P60 Pro.
magic 5 pro actually records good audio when no wind. i like the wide angle selfie of magic 5 pro.

Yes it does 4k60 iPhone had it with video quality but then the EIS with the S23U was smoother than the iPhone 14 Pro.

It is very noticable now that Samsung uses AI to "enhance" their photos, especially in the night shots. Those "details" are generated, the image looks exactly like a noisy, blurry mess which was thrown into an AI upscaler. Very unnatural, it's just bad.
Such a stupid comment. Every company uses AI for nightmode. Would you rather it look like a blotchy barely recognizable mess that the iPhone produced? You can barely discern anything in the photo.

Yes I hate the cyan or purple sky as they just over do it with the night modes. I prefer what Oppo, Huawei and Honor do leaving the sky black!

S23U is like a Jack of all-treat phone~ Good display currently nothing can topped it, camera not top tier but consider quite good, good video quality, audio is great but not as loud as ROG phone, good battery life (whoever use previous samsung wil know how shet the battery is), and the 90% in the socket S-Pen (It useful when I need to sign my E-Doc).
So it my pick of this year. So kudos for other company too, keep making great phone and whack on Samsung~ I want Sammy to fear and get something better next year if not they will start slacking when they think their current is the best~ Thanks

I got the honor 5pro, glitchy at best using gestures for navigation. Had to swipe up 3 times to get recent apps using nova launcher. Sent it back and stuck with s23u.
After probably 250 comparison shots it took the better photo, especially zoom and low light. Also the portrait shots were amazing with the different filters you can use.
Video is also better on the Samsung and sound quality is 👍👍
Just a simple question. I always take a look at your great reviews but.... Why not compare Xiaomi 13 Ultra with Pixel 7 Pro? I always see everywhere Iphone 14 pro and S23 Ultra..... while everyone knows that Pixel 7 Pro is better as camera phone.
Simple I sold it to buy other phones to review. I can't afford to hang into everything sadly.
I hoped that the Honor brand would give better results for the night shoot.
IPhone wins in ultra low light video by a decent bit. Samsung really improved their low light conditions video as well which is nice to see. But once the light really drops to poor conditions, iPhone looks decently sharp, with less noise. Day light video I love the honors contrast, exposure smoothness and color, really pop. Samsung has amazing stabilization, zoom, great overall system. Only weakness bring really really low light
Samsung has certainly improved it's low light video, but it needs to take a leaf out of the IPhone's book and simply not try too hard to brighten things too much in very low light resulting in noisier video. This isn't Samsung's way though at the moment. Very impressed with the S23 Ultra's video overall I must say. It now makes a more flexible videography device than the IPhone. And let's not forget it is a new device awaiting software improvements that will surely follow.

Wow the magic 5 pro is a mess on video. The microphone sounds terrible, dark video not good and stabilization is poor. I had high hopes for Honor. Was surprised how well the Samsung performed overall.
Why does the Honor's microphone start to sound like you're drowning, when you start zooming in?
