During Comedians on Board 3 (COB3) Samay Raina trained under the able guidance of GM Surya Ganguly. Being a world class second who has helped Anand to win three World Championship matches, Surya came up with a nice surprise weapon for Samay that is both relatively unknown and at the same time sound - The O'Kelly variation in the Sicilian.
The moves go 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 a6!? Now is White's 3.d4 a Small Opening Mistake? For years everyone has been saying so. IM Sagar Shah looks at this line in greater depth and brings you some very interesting ideas for both white and black.

This Small Opening Mistakes series is improving my understanding of openings so much. Never end this series. It's really very very helpful.
a tip: watch movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been using it for watching loads of movies lately.
@Amir Izaiah yup, I've been watching on InstaFlixxer for since december myself =)
You both looks like twins.😃Are you both one single person?🤨🤨
Please continue this series, it is absolutely helpful against the aggressive player who just want to attack from first move
with all there pieces remains unprotected.
I've just started to learn the O'kelly....This is brilliant, love your work sir and your channel.
Great video on the O'Kelly! Thank you
BIG QUESTION: Sagar bhai why you are not streaming Indian qualifiers??
Chess 24 India YT channel has to grow that’s why.
Finally! Wanted to learn this since sooooooo long!
I love your instructive videos
Great video helped alot❤️❤️
My god. I watch your videos just hoping to keep up, lol. You have become one of my favorite things about chess, with your videos.
Hi Sagar Sir...Why not casting the Indian qualifier which is running currently????????????🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
because he works for chessbase, not for chess24

Thanks a lot.. excellent explanation👍
Can we have a series on the Sicilian? Like the Caro Kann with Sandeep sir
Very nice video , i really like small opening mistakes. Sir, can you make a video on Tournament preparation against high rated players.
Pls sir.
6:15 samay Raina at door pls open
This is awesome series..
thank you Sir for this video.
Thanks sir
I played this line with a friend whose rated 1900 and won a nice game
4:03 indeed xD
Man, i have such a dirty mind!
6:08, I was thinking of Bg5 after f5. Is it possible to play that move?🤔🤔
May be black can take the bishop with his queen and after Q×d5+ Be6 Qc5. I think this is not so bad for white. Correct me if I am wrong 😄
how to do well with white for Sicilian?
Nice.
4:08 why not nd2...it also defends central pawn and is more active????
Sagar, I have a doubt at 2 :46
If white further pushes his pawn, then what is reply by black
@Sahil Marchande Hello, after white pushes his pawn, black plays Qa5+ and after white blocks the check, Qxe5 and black remains a pawn up. I hope this helps.
Thanks ♥️♥️♥️
Bro which app do you use to play
@1:55 Rhather than Nc6 Qc7 looks better
Any one can tell me the best opening for black against Evans gambit
Wow
I play c3 before Nf3 and make it ponzianni sometimes
either nc3 from white can white play e5
Instead of bd3 qd3 what happens????
Small title mistakes to learnt from.
❤❤
The script on the right is not in coordination with what sagar is saying. It's confusing me. For eg at 12:13 bishop on f8 cant come on b4
1-2 sec delay only
What chess app are you using?
I think he plays at the official chessbaseindia website
Of course Chessbase 16
Good question
Sicilian Defense - Samay Raina Variation
WHAT IF HE JUST PUSHES THE E4 PAWN?where does our knight go then?
Then he resignes after Queen A5 check wins pawn
2:37 What if white plays pawn to e5
Qa5+!
Ooh 🤪🤪🤪
