A friend of mine spent *all* of his money buying 17th century art and decor. He went completely baroque.
Yes, very good.
🙄😄
Nice
If it's not baroque, don't fix it 🕰️🤣
😆
Ermygurd!!! 😂 LoL . Right on 🤣👍
As a music major we said this all the time in music history.
🤣

I loved this much more than I expected. Baroque is so psychedelic and provocative. I love how interactive the artist and the viewer are in each interaction.
Baroque is the rock and roll of art.
No baroque is a style of classical music as well that involves the greatest composers of all time like Lully,Handel,Vivaldi and J S Bach though some people consider these latter composers as rococo.
@@kaloarepo288 I am speaking in the context of this exposition of Baroque visual art, whether painting, sculpture, or architecture. The man speaking uses phrases such as "In your face", which perfectly describes rock and roll. The art of the High Renaissance can be likened to jazz. It doesn't come to you; you have to go to it. I like both styles.
@@michaelrexrode3759 Baroque art is very theatrical with exaggerated gestures so a comparison to opera is a lot more appropriate -actually opera was invented in the early baroque period and baroque churches were actually inspired by baroque opera houses not the other way around -plus rock n roll is based on electronic amplification wheras music at that time was of course acoustic and you really had to have a real voice not an artificially amplified one as in rock.
@@kaloarepo288 What I think Michael meant was the music in the Baroque was very basic melodically and harmonically and easily accessible to the emotions and it was rhythmically simple and often danceable. It was in general less polyphonic and "intellectual" than Renaissance music and therefore more accessible to more people...
Barocque and roll.
Love that pearl metaphor.
Why are the people from absolute history doing a better job than any school teacher ever?
Because you set the bar so low. (History "teacher") This isn't history either. It's propaganda.
@@stevo271How is this propaganda? You're Exhibit A for the OP's point.

I LOVE THIS HOST!!!!! Stay the way you are, never try to update how you present the show. I think you're perfect Please don't ever change what you present or how you present it. You are as amazing as your topics.
Kinda found him annoying lol, my favorite host is the short old guy who does the worst jobs series. Forgot his name but he reminds me of my grampa but actually happy & has charm.
I’m a catholic went to a convent school as did all my sisters and brothers my mother was a true diehard up until our father abandoned our family in 1972 making her a single mum she went to the church for help she was told that no matter what he had done take him back and be a good wife after that she turned her back on the church never went to mass again . When she died my sister got in touch with her own families priest so she could have them accept her back and forgive her her sins . Catholicism still has its hold over me
The vatican is truly an evil super power.
There's no mediator between man and God.
who is this God person anyway
@@marlene6139 What about a mediator between Woman and god?
@@AnnaAnna-uc2ff The Goddess needs no mediator. She is directly available.
She is the one making appearances all over the world. If you reach out to her, she comes.
I usually prefer the more neutral-ish tone of most documentaries but I really like how flamingly opinionated Mr.Januszczak is, I think this style not only informs on the history and technical prowess of the art but of what the genuine reactions might have been like back in the day, too. Definitely the man for the job on a video about Baroque!
Cçcç cçccc
I sincerely thank you all for that Baroqueske sensual journey.
Baroque: Because tasteful and understated is just code for cowardice.
I absolutely love Baroque art. It's so ridiculous, but it's just the most epic work ever created.
Never seen such exuberant geometry in a Christian Church? Go to Palermo, Sicily. Palatine Chapel at the Norman Palace.
These are the most mind growing and enriching art presentations eve made! He is hands down THE BEST! As is the entire production people involved! Top notch! I adore Waldemar! And this one about “Baroque” is my favorite!
Baroque, when you have no Monet.
That too. This is why as college kids we said no matter what we listened to on our Diskman players we were always baroque.
Ha, jon!
@@z_ed😎 I'm incognito.
I'm you are out of Monet, that means you are Baroque
This is an achingly beautiful documentary series.
I absolutely LOVE the way you talk, Waldemar ! Almost make me feel like a native :)
Lots of great presenters on the Absolute History documentaries but this man is my favorite.
It was always understood as an architectural student I would go to Rome.....I was never made aware of the human value in magnificent baroque churches....always Roman architecture..... which is cold, cruel, like the modern movement.
Music and talking at the same time-- it's too much
i love this hosts narration on baroque so much!
I'm absolutely in awe of the beauty. I mean this art 🎨 is something out of this world. It's astonishingly amazing. Thankfully it has been preserved. At least they did something right...If the Lutherans didn't.
Whoa! Bach's music had strong Lutheran influences...
Really great show, but the amount of ads is completely insane… really frustrating!
A painting mob - nice, lol
That intro alone lmao. Great Host, can totally recommend this video to others
No one recounts history, especially art history, as Wally does!!
Thanks!
awesome, as an artist, fascinate me to watch. Thanks so much!
In music history classes we used to joke that if ain't baroque don't fix it. And to think they thought the Classical era (Mozart for example) had too many notes.
More Waldy please
Make sure you sit and jump on the map and really give it a good rub into the sand and grass.
Everyone making "broke" jokes when the host pronounces it "bar-awk" lol
What's up with the canned music in the beginning of this documentary?
This dude sounds like Richard Ayoade
Yes yes yes I'll take it! The goopier the better. Philadelphia USA

Looking for an artist and piece name at 7:25 please..thanks
Saint Peter's is NOT a cathedral!.
It’s a Basilica infact
@@ArcherV Nor is it the church of the pope as bishop of Rome -St John Lateran is actually his church!
@@kaloarepo288 exactly.
Baroque... Like as in Obama?
I just wanted to add my own dad pun. Sorry. I'll not do it again
Better than the endless "broke' jokes littered here lol

So you could say Bernini and Co. are…baroque stars, then?
Son’ buon’ Gaddoligo.
very epic just saying
Perhaps if you had a touch less of the superlative tone of the over actor it would be easier to appreciate your expertise.
“Giving suck” what a horrendous phrase
Lol
Your daughter is right 🤣
Lost me as soon as he pronounced Baroque wrong LOL
Thats the british pronunciation
