    Best instructions on CZcams! Cleaning the base first and then spinning the gasket to make sure it is in place are the best tips. Now after a week of trying, we finally have 2 fixed leaks. Thank You.

    TY. Far superior to the video from mansfield. The hands of the presenter as well as the failure to adjust the camera angle from outside the tank to inside took away from the value. Your camera placement solved this issue. Well done. Again, TY. Now I can fix my friends toilet.

    Great! VERY clear! And nothing left to presumed understandings that we don't have. That's because she gives precise information about the details that we need to know and she relates that information in a stepwise process. Thank you for not wasting our time with confusing stuff that leaves out things that we need to know and also doesn't add a bunch of stuff that we don't need to know.

      It has been such a long time since I had to change a black gasket out of the Mansfield but I think the tower unscrews like the one with the red gasket and thin just pay attention to how the black one comes off. I think it also goes in a groove. Good luck and let us know how you did😊

    Can you explain why the handle needs more force to flush because of a failed gasket, I never heard of this. Is that just a quirk of the Mansfield flush valve or do other flush valves suffer similar fates.

    • @TappPlumbing
      @TappPlumbing  Před 2 měsíci

      The gasket gets worn and molded, for a lack of a better term, to the flush valve creating a suction effect causing it to be extremely hard to flush, sometimes breaking the handle. It is more prominent in Mansfield but Kohler and American Standard have similar styles that do the same.
      Great question! Thank you for watching and commenting!

    • @dalemihocik4732
      @dalemihocik4732 Před měsícem

      @@TappPlumbing You are 100% correct that this can and does sometimes occur. With your expert help I was able to fix the American Standard toilet at my church. By replacing that gasket, we saved a lot of money, that we didn't have, by not having to call a plumber. Your video is the only one I found on CZcams that addresses this odd occurrence. Thank you so much!

    Will this stop the knocking when flushed?

    • @TappPlumbing
      @TappPlumbing  Před rokem +1

      Replacing the gasket will probably not stop any kind of a knocking noise, that more than likely has something to do with the fill valve. If the knocking only happens at that toilet and no where else. If the knocking is present in other places it could be your pressure reducing valve. You may want to check your water pressure regardless. Good luck and keep us posted please.

    My issue is that the lever isn’t being pushed back in place, so the water just continues to run & I have to manually lift the handle to put it back in place. How do I fix that?

    • @TappPlumbing
      @TappPlumbing  Před 4 měsíci +1

      That is normally something related to the way handle is operating. It could be pulling the plastic tower and causing it to lean. Some times you have to CAREFULLY put a gentle bend in the handle. Just make sure the tower is moving perfectly straight up and back down. Keep us posted please. Thanks for watching our video!

    Inherited a 1998 1.6 gpf, (low mono-tank) flat rod action. The flush tower appears to have been siliconed to tank bottom replacing a standard type spud gasket. Can't believe that was ever done by manufctr.
    Will try a Lincoln Products: 1.6gpf for a Mansfield 211
    just based on measurements.
    Cannot find "Model 211" on porcelain casting or at the painted badge back of seat.
    I call out this oddball Mansfield instead by, "The Low-Flusher-as-Battled-by-Hank, on 'King of the Hill' cartoon in the 1999 (? apprx) episode where he had to flush 3 x 1.6, even after dieting 🤣"

    About how long will a new gasket last?

    • @TappPlumbing
      @TappPlumbing  Před rokem +1

      That really depends on water quality. The best way to know if it is wearing out is if the handle is hard to press down to flush. If it is it is time to change the gasket before the handle breaks:)
