Sally Rand is a legend!
I was born in the 1960's, but I could identity Sally Rand immediately. I'm sure other panel members, in addition to Carl Reiner, also recognized her.
18:26 The audience reacting to that name is priceless.
So much better to watch these shows than all the junk online right now. thank you so much for taking your time to add these!
👍
Carlisle was 47 in this episode. She looked even better 10 years later. Polly was 20 years younger than her.
21:11 Polly Bergen: How can we know when they don't? The contestants in Game 3 all seemed to know very little about Marlon's life and carrier.
Polly Bergen was so sweet.
My dad actually dated Francis Brando in high school. Marlon is listed as Bud Brando in my dad's yearbook.
Did your father also know Marlon's other sister Jocelyn?
I call BS. Post affidavits
@@joeambrose3260 Like what. I have Francis Brando on one page of the yearbook and my dad on the opposite page. Are you expecting a written and notarized document showing they dated? You are a total FOOL!!!!! Screw you and your "affidavits" I don't give a FUCK about your IGNORANT post.
You can call BS all you want because you're IGNORANT. My dad DID date Francis Brando and I don't give a rat's a$$ about your ignorant response. Screw you!!!!!!!
@@bjbell52 My my. How testy, did I hit a nerve ?
@@joeambrose3260 No, you're just an asshole.
And my dad did date Francis Brando, Marlon's sister.
She was a great astronaut, too. (Oh, wait... that was Sally Ride...)
I knew it was #3 because I just saw Sally Rand on What's My Line? yesterday!
Ava Gardener's sister resembled Ava Gardener a lot. They had the same eyes.
Thankyou for down loading all these episodes 🙌 😀 😊
i have never heard of sally rand. but i just watched an episode of what's my line in 1952, and she was the guest celebrity. this truth episode is over 4 years later. how could celebrities not know her ?
They did know her which is why all four chose her. I also recognized her, and I was born after this show was first broadcast.
People did not watch tv then as they do now not to mention all the social media.
Thank you for this edition of To Tell the Truth. In the third game, I kept looking at #2 and thought that she might have the Brando resemblance, but, then, something told me that #1 was the one, as she looked like Joycelyn (older sister). BTW, #3 in the third game did look a little like sister Ava Gardner with the cat eyes (so beautiful, as was her famous sibling).
How could they not recognize Sally Rand? She had been appearing on television during the 1950s.
weird yeah
Because no one was looking at her face, duhhhhh,,,,,, LOL
I felt sure that #2 was Marlon Brando's sister. Not only did she seem to know all the answers, but the other two seemed a little "long in the tooth" in 1957 to be his sister. And by the way, she was a fox!
I also thought that #2 looked a lot like Jocelyn Brando - facially, anyway.
It was clever to say she called him Molly
Frances' mother directed young Henry Fonda in community theater productions in their mutual hometown of Omaha. Frances' other sister, Jocelyn, would act opposite Fonda on Broadway in MISTER ROBERTS.
That Boston accent WAS very British! ;)
The panel had a very good night. #2 in game 3 was a babe. Anyone else getting annoyed when Bud has to keep asking the panelists why they voted for whom they voted. I hope that start to learn soon. It has been enough shows by now. Thanks for the video.
RIP Carl Reiner
Marlon Brando’s best movie was yet to come 🍿
Yes superman
Mommie Dearest
23:15 The sister of Ava Gardner.
WOW - Marlon Brando's sister and Ava Gardner's sister in the same show, and stunning Polly Bergen looking like the word 'beautiful' was invented just for her. KAN UK
Grow up already
Ralph Bellamy needed to have disqualified himself from segment # two.
I don't know how they guessed Brando's sister was #1 by her answers. I was certain it was #2. She did a great job.
No, she was too vivacious and tried to be charming. Those usually aren't the real ones.
SPOILER!
In addition Mrs Loving , Brando's sister looks more like their mother and is quiet and laid back . Brando and Jocelyn look like Brando Sr. the father. They were close though out their lives .
neat!
Fabian of the Yard was very famous in the UK in the 50s but he failed to solve a number of crimes.
Bubble dancer #2
Yeah, it was #3 in Game 1, alright.
And our fearless leader Gary even has her WML appearance on his other channel.
In game #2 when all three were standing at the beginning you could tell the real Ms Rand had the best figure although she was covered up. they tried to doll up the first lady , a former Ziegfeld girl to fool somebody.
In gamei # 3 Brando sister didn't seem to know lot of stuff , probably because she lived the quiet life on that farm . Also in game 3, Ava Gardner sister was probably the older one who lived as a housewife in Winston Salem NC who did not really let anyone outside of close friends her relationship .
Rest in Peace, Carl Reiner.
What a shame that the panel didn't get to talk a bit with the great Sally Rand...a missed opportunity.....But, in this appearance, Miss Rand seemed a bit under-the-weather....didn't seem quite 'with-it' have seen her in other appearances in this time frame, and in those---she was as sharp as a tack, and quite LIvely....her Fan Dance Act, and Bubble performance...seen on film...were really awesome and so seductively erotic. An Uncle once saw her at the World's Fair...and quite bluntly----said that every guy in the audience was 'stiff' with a smile....and that she was a real 'Dish' of a Woman......
Number 2 got Marlo Brando's nickname wrong. it was Bud. That's why I voted for #1.
mh K I voted for No.1 as well. But only because she looked like Marlon Brando. Especially around the eye area. :)
mh K I thought Carl Reiner's explanation of why he voted for #1 in Game 3 (22:15) was perfect -- clearly thought out, logical, and I totally agreed with him about #2 seeming "too well prepared" and #3 not prepared enough. This is really the first time in the episodes I've been watching chronologically on this channel that I have heard any panelist give such a logical explanation for a choice. This also happens to be one of the few times that my own instincts about who the real one was proved correct. :)
His nickname of Bud did not come from the movies. He was known as Bud in his high school yearbook. My dad use to date Francis.
When Sally Rand was on WML?, everyone knew her...
Carl Reiner was pretty good. Surprised he was a panelist only once.
NOW, the familiar panel discussion on votes starts here.
***** And, as I noted elsewhere on this page, Carl Reiner's explanations of his votes (especially on Game 3) were the best, most logical, and most honest I have seen.
SaveThe TPC - i was going to say the same thing, but you beat me to it by three years :-) it is little wonder why he was so succesful in the business he was in.
R.I.P Carl Reiner! He ha a long life!

Did Ralph sell his BellAmy?
Ralph Bellamy!
None of the contestants in Game 3 knew that originally, the Marlon Brando character in "On the Waterfront" was supposed to go to Frank Sinatra.
Oh, that's right. In the Godfather, the incident with the movie picture mogul who wouldn't hire a singer because he had "ruined" a starlet was in real life Frank Sinatra, and the picture to be filmed was On the Waterfront!!!
The funny thing is that the moment I saw the last contestants, I thought that number 3 looked so much like Ava Gardner that she should be her sister, not Marlon Brando’s.
Same. During the questioning I definitely thought #3 was Ava Gardner's sister too & thought for sure #2 would also be a sibling of another celebrity.
Just saw a video of the bubble dance from 1942. Utterly ridiculous.
It's a shame the panelists didn't disqualify themselves when they recognized Sally Rand and Robert Fabian -- as they would be required to do in later years.
I wonder if any of the panelists, besides Carl Reiner, might have subconsciously recognized Sally Rand from her appearance on _What's My Line?_ 5 years earlier (czcams.com/video/QtrZ3F0xhyA/video.html&t=17m33s). Then again, *_I_* certainly didn't recognize her when I first watched this TTTT episode, and I'd seen the WML episode much more recently than that! Also, I just just re-watched that WML episode, and it seems to me that Sally had aged a lot in those 5 years, so she might not have been so easy to recognize, especially since the two impostors kind of resembled her.
I didn’t recognize her either, she looks so rough
18:56 200 IQ move by Carl right there lol
Hell and back... what !
Sally Rand was only 53 in 1957. They looked much older 50 years ago.
Less preserves put in their food
Funny most of these shows never show a picture of the mystery person in their real job. In this show do they show Miss Sally dancing in a picture?
NO!
Why did'nt the panel recognize Ms. Sally Rand??
Sorry Polly. Ohio is the midwest. It's a archaic designation that never changed, even after the US expand west beyond the Mississippi river.
Agree. When I was in grade school in the 60s Ohio was considered the Midwest. Agree it is an archaic thought pattern, because at one point even Missouri was considered "west". -- the country kept expanding.
@@gemoftheocean When Blaine Fabin reached the Missouri, he thought he smelled the sea breezes of the Pacific.
Polly was an air head anyways.
Josephine Baker 🍌 💃
Only number one looks like Marlon.
Why no years supply of Geritol !!!!????
Carl Reiner should have disqualified himself.
Anyone here after Carl Reiner's death?
I swear this is rigged. Anybody, let alone all four panelists, who chose #3 in game #1 had to have known. She seemed under the influence of something, and her answers were almost unintelligible.
Lady #3 in Game #1
Man #1 in Game #2
Lady #1 in Game #3
Please remove this moronic troll from the comments section.
Carl Reiner, as everyone knows, is the father of the meathead himself Rob Reiner.
The same "meat-head", as you call him, who later gave us "Stand By Me", right?
Zachary Dunlap-Tunnage Right!
+Vahan Nisanian "Dead from the neck up.... Meat HEAD!"
No shit,Sherlock
Great to see Carl Reiner before he turned into a horse's ass. What genuine wit, later spoiled by limousines.
