  • Hello there!,
    Here is a new little video highlighting the new update from Teenage Engineering, which added a new bit-crushing effect to the OP-1 Field, let's check it out!
    it's a pretty fun effect and I used it extensively for the music of this video, hope you enjoy!

      Thank you Leo! I’m glad you like it, I wasn’t too confident of the musical composition, so glad you approve! 😃

    Very well demonstrated man! Just updated mine, so happy to have it because the OG OP-1 had a grittier sound and that 12bit sampler sound when resampling, which I missed. So it's great to get that back on the Field!

      Thank you! I’m working on another Field video at the moment, focusing on the Dimension Synth engine! I never had the OG OP-1 so it’s interesting to hear, what do you think about the different tape styles on the field? I still seem to just use the ‘studio’ one, not sure the others add enough character IMO

    Love your style of editing! Always look forward to your TE videos I wish you made more! 😅 I just got my TP-7 yesterday so i’d love to see a video on it and how you use it!
    My wish list for updates on it would probably consist of different tape styles, sync recording/synced loops, and some form of connectivity via usb-c to the op1-f to multitrack the 4 individual stereo tracks inside it to then mix individually inside TX-6. All i’m missing is the Cm-15 but to be fair the mic inside the Tp-7 is amazing!

      Thanks neal! If I’d known, I would’ve made more TE videos sooner! 😃 I have a few OP-1 videos in the works, so stay tuned for those- ah some great TP-7 suggestions there, I hadn’t thought about tape styles but you’re right, that would be awesome, and I’ve thought about that, the ability to multichannel record all op-1 tracks would be a great addition (I don’t think you can do that over usb-C at the moment!) - I actually got a CM-15 recently, and it is spectacular! (In terms of design and usability of course) the fact that it has a battery makes it SO useful, I’ve thought about making a video about it, but I haven’t thought of a good idea yet!

    Would love to see your opinions on the TP7. I love the idea and execution of it, but hate that price tag.

      Good to know, I’ve been thinking about making a video on it, you’re definitely right about the price tag, and there are definitely similar devices from the likes of Zoom, although nothing as well/beautifully designed I would say, and the motorised tape reel is quite unique, stay tuned for a video on it in the new year!

    really great track, super nice to see a subtle use of the new terminal effect. great to show that it doesn't need to be harsh. can i ask why you are recording into the tp-7 and not just onto the tape of the op-1f itself?

      @megamodularis  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Ah thanks! Yeh, I prefer it as a subtle effect, it can easily become quite harsh IMO- and good question, although I don’t really have a good answer, I absolutely could’ve recorded straight onto the OP-1, I guess it’s habit from recording my modular performances onto the TP-7 whilst recording video too, and I wanted it to be a ‘live’ performance, so I did it that way, though I guess it’s over-complicated!

      @@megamodularis thanks for your answer! i was just trying to think if there was some sort of technical reason why you used the tp-7 and not the op-1f tape... i guess in this way you didn't need to record your keys to the op-1f tape, like you could have a short loop on the tape and just riff over top of it on and on. that's enough of a reason to send it out to the 7...

      @megamodularis  Před 8 měsíci +1

      @jaygilligan yeh! That’s exactly what I was doing, I stared out on the OP-1 got a loop I liked, and had a few takes at playing over it, vaguely trying to figure out what sounded good, I guess it’s in case I play something I like, and I have it recorded, for some reason feels a bit easier than recording an op-1 take then deleting it & starting again etc, but you can deffo do it the other way, so I guess it’s just habit 😃

    Dreamy sound that goes well with the image. What camera are you shooting with?(if you may share)

      Thanks! I’m currently using a Fuji X-E4 with the Sigma 18-50 + a Black Satin diffusion filter, thinking of upgrading to the Fuji X-H2s (think I got the name right!) nice camera that I use for photography too, I love the film simulation stuff Fuji does 😀
