- Thanks to Still Austin for sharing their new High Rye Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon Whiskey with us! It's 100 proof (obviously) and has a mash bill of 70% corn, 25% rye, and 5% Texas-grown malted barley. It's available starting October 1st at select retailers and online with a suggested retail price of $79.99.
Welcome back to "Short and Sweet", where the reviews are (usually) short, and it's very sweet of those who have shared their whiskey with us!

Man I need this one
Just got one. Wow
Still Austin is one of my favorite Bourbons out there. I always have something by them on the shelf at all times. Great review thank you.
I had previously had the Still Austin Straight Rye, tonight I opened this bottle of High Rye BiB and immediately recognized the relationship between the two. That rye note adds some evergreen/pine tree spiciness that is amazing. This bourbon may have just soared to my favorites list, top 3. Wow!
Keep doing these short and sweet reviews. I dig it.
Great review wish we could get this in Ohio. Besides ordering from online. Enjoy!!
Thanks you guys. I'm a Still Austin fan and look forward to trying this one. Cheers.
I was super excited to see this in my area, we usually get them weeks after release. I did pop it open to share with my dad and really enjoyed. need to get a review done. but I love what still austin is doing. cheers
I was blown away by this at "moochfest". It does not remind me of any Texas bourbon. I will be buying!
Still Austin is a little expensive north of the border, but when it goes on sale I head to the store. Their cask strength is so amazing, especially since it’s only aged around 2 years.
Got to try a sample of this, and couldn’t get myself to spend the $79, but it really does taste fantastic
Good to hear. I like their single barrel cask strength so will be looking to try this one.
Still Austin finally arrived in MN. I just picked up a Cask Strength for $45.00 but haven't been home long enough to try it. I have been super interested in their stuff fir a while. Thanks for the review!
It’s so good!!
Decent but way to expensive…why do all these distilleries keep pricing the average person out of even trying them? I personally will stick to below $50…most of the time $40. Hail Early Times, Wt 101, WT 101 rye..etc too many to name
Thanks for the review ..sorry I jumped to the cost issue but glad y’all can afford em
You can never go wrong with Wild Turkey.
Their other stuff is really affordable. 30-50 for the cask strength
Was there a couple days ago. Tried all the bottle mentioned and they were are great. Left with a single barrel (5 yr, cask strength)
Good video 🥃
Great video. Also, sounded so good. I love Still Austin but I have not had this. If it shows up, I will certianly grab this. Cheers!
Let’s get short and sweet with Texas Nutty Whiskey! #NuttySquad!
Nice. What do you believe the availability of this will be around the northern Kentucky (Covington/Newport) and southern Ohio (Cincinnati) area?
I'll be swinging by Still Austin VERY soon to snag a bottle of this! I also plan to grab the cask strength Rye too. I'll miss seeing you two at The Bastards Ball, but I know you'll be having a blast at Bourbon on the Banks. 🖖😎🥃
$80 is pretty expensive for a 4 year BnB when there are a ton out there that are really great BnBs and a lot less expensive: Heaven Hill BnB, Bardstown BnB, Wildernesses Trail…the list goes on..👍🏼
A 4 year aged in Texas is not the same as other places.
This is better than the Red Corn BIB?? Wow...we will have our bottle this week and can't wait to review it now. Great job with the quick review and celebrating how great Still Austin is! Cheers!
I got mine yesterday, and I'm looking forward to opening it once I'm home. 🖖🏻😎🥃
I love Josh Allen takes time out of his busy NFL schedule to do bourbon reviews 😁
Can't say I've gotten that one before! haha
Nancy Fraley was a consultant with Still Austin in their early days and perhaps still is. This is probably the best bourbon being made in Texas.
She's been doing single barrel pick with them. I've heard there's a new pick of hers at the distillery each month. 🖖🏻😎🥃
Wow! Is this really that different from their 49.8% abv Rye?
It is!
Yep, it's a bourbon, for one.
@@eafarrar oops. Missed that somehow. That’s even stranger though, as the BP is cheaper than the BIB? (Or maybe just cheaper here next door to TX.)
wow 4 year old bourbon for 80 buckaroos.
You should watch the whiskey tribe videos that explain whiskey aging in Texas. Climate affects barrel impact.
It’s also more like $70-75 (here in Texas at least).
Given the time value of money, does that make it worth more?
@@johnmorgan233 one, it’s a seasonal release meaning it’s not a standard shelf bottle. Additionally there is wide variations between a 4yr Kentucky bourbon and a 4yr Texas Bourbon in terms of climate impact and a quality Texas distillery like Still Austin and TX can definitely put out great bourbon for their region.
In terms of the price this is not Jim Beam or Buffalo Trace your going to pay additional for a limited release but if their putting out good product and making an effort to make it available I would gladly take a chance on them rather than camp overnight for another overpriced allocated product from a legacy distillery.
I have noticed that your patreon hyperlink hasn't worked for quite some time. You may want to fix that.
BIB @ $80 - why??
So many better bottles at that price. ECBP, Larceny BP, everything from Barrel Craft.
$40 - $50 is fair, $60.....
Maybe
$80, Nope
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
I tried this at TW with a store employee (also his first time) and we both disliked it. He didn't even want to finish drinking his sample. For some reason, we got an odd grassy taste. taste profile says tangerine sherbert, but maybe an unripe version
Wow, I wonder what happened with that bottle because that is in no way what we got.
I keep intending to try Still Austin, but haven't gotten to it yet. I can tell you that I can't afford $80, especially not when I can get good BiB whisky for $20-30, and absolutely fantastic whisky between $30-60 (though the upper end of that is only occasionally).
The Cask Strength bottle I got a while back might have been some of the worst whiskey I have ever had. It tasted like it was filtered through a hobo's socks. Since then I have lost the taste for Still Austin.
