    Thank you for an informative video. I'm a Londoner & have been living in Iceland for 2 years.The swimming pools play a big part of Icelandic culture. Rain, wind or snow, the pools are always busy with the locals & should be experienced by every visitor. Coming from the Uk I understand how 'prudish' we are, so it is very important to give the correct info. The pools & spa's country wide have women only & men only changing rooms & showers. There are no mixed showers & no mixed changing rooms. So please come & enjoy.

      You're welcome! It would be great to go in summer if we ever go again, we've heard it's like a different country landscape wise so I'm sure you'll have a great time 🙂

    Normal geothermal pools scattered around Iceland in most if not all towns here use chlorine in their pools. We just use less then in other countries where you are not required to shower thoroughly before entering. :)

    I was several time there on a cruise ships, the Blue Lagoon is great also in the winter, but you need rubber shoes to go from the building to the water!

    As an Icelander I have always taken á shower before swimming people are not looking at the other people in the showers I amit that I sometime wanted to skip them but its good to be clean you wash your hair after swimming and we absolutely love our hot water just remember no one is starting except maybe children

    • @twoweirdbeans4077
      @twoweirdbeans4077  Před rokem

      That's so true that most people aren't looking at other people. Everyone is too concerned with themselves to be looking at other people! 🙂

      Hey we were actually there from mid-March to the beginning of April so exactly the same time as you! For what it's worth though our glacier guide when we did the glacier walk said that had been one of the warmest springs he could remember so maybe prepare in case it's a little colder than in our video! Hope that helps 😃

    We’re you in Iceland in the month of April? I have a trip booked for April 2023 and it’s nice to see what the weather will be like or what it might be like.

      @twoweirdbeans4077  Před rokem

      We were there 19th of March to 3rd of April, so almost. We found there was a lot of snow and it was very cold when we arrived but by the time we left it was still cold but a lot of snow had melted and the weather was better. So it definitely got warmer by the beginning of April so hopefully the weather won't be too bad then 👍

    You're not pathetic. We rented a camper van but had Airbnb or hotels for each night. One night I had to share a room with my best mate who snored crazy loud, so I slept in the camper van. I thought I might freeze to death and this was in Sept.

    Awesome tips! Quick question about the showers, is it literally everyone male and female all in the same general shower or do they at least separate us that way lol?

      Wow, I’m kinda surprised people of the same gender are so concerned with being naked in front of each other…..growing up, the coaches FORCED us starting in the 6th grade after PE ( gym class) to walk in the open showers, there was NO exeptions, atleast that was the rule for the boys….so by the time we were in high school athletics, it was really no issue. My wife says the girls had some type of shower curtain, and were not forced?

      Hi thanks very much for your comment! There is public transport that goes around the ring road, mostly buses which can be booked by apps. We didn't actually use them ourselves because we had a car but this website: www.visiticeland.com/article/public-transport/ has some good information and links to the bus companies websites. Hope that helps 🙂

    Actually there is chlorine in Icelandic swimmingpool water, so the bathing policy has nothing to do with this. Still there are many natural pools and bathing that are not chlorinated.

    This is so innerly wrong. We don't shower in public. But we shower before we go to swimmingpools, where women from some month to 90 years old are in a special places - shower rooms.
