Alex Menendez Yeah man! He does that awesome solo towards the end :)
Ninjanomikz Mark pulls it off live ;) Totally agree though Guthrie is a genius
Still to this day I return to listen to the album that completely changed my life. These songs got me through very tough times. And continue to spark something deep within my being that gives me clarity when I need it the most. Thank you Periphery for this gift.

I remember sitting in my bed on a Saturday morning with my shitty HP laptop that barely ran, browsing CZcams and just randomly clicking on this. My 8th grade mind was blownnnnnnnnnn. This album got me into this genre and has helped my drumming grow and be what it is today. The nostalgia is real.
Am I the only one who thinks that Have a Blast is one of the best songs ever made
GuitarKid218 this entire album is EXTREMELY FUCKING AMAZING ! :D
SameBasicRiff Right you are
GuitarKid218 you'r not the only one
+DoctaDrake indeed, and I'd say Froggin Bullfish is a masterpiece aswell.
+GuitarKid218 I personally love Mile Zero. Since the album came out I just can stop listening to it as if it was the first time.
This is honestly one of the best albums of all time

I am returning to the roots over and over again. Even after 11 years this album gives me goosebumps
I remember listening to this the day it came out. Couldn't take my headphones off all day, I met one of my best friends of all time that day and he thought I was a total asshole. Now he understands what an epic journey I was entrenched in.
Periphery has a little bit of everything for everyone to enjoy. Half the people arguing in the comments cant even play in instrument, your points therefore hold very little value. If you are a musican of any kind you would understand how things work for example: Spencers vocals be it his cleans or screams blend into the songs so well and they are fitting for what is being played in the songs.
straight up man
Think saying people who don't play an instrument have an opinion of 'little value' is pretty risky! However I agree that as an instrumentalist there's probably more appreciation for what they're able to compose. Whether I would enjoy it as much if I didn't play the guitar, it's hard to tell. Playing along is fucking hard sometimes though!
no i totally understand that. What i ment by that is that if someone who simply listens to music would have a more bias opinion toward any music compared to someone who plays an instrument or composes etc. A musician knows how certian things work and how much time to takes to fromulate a song where as a regualr listener can only compare things to others bands or people they know.
***** They do. I play bass since 2003, and I like to listen to music I cannot play. Periphery, some Dream Theater songs, Meshuggah. By time music gets complicated the simple ear of a non-musician is getting bored. This band is cooler than I thought. The only thing I don't really enjoy is the growl in the songs, but I will get used to them ;)
Coudlnt agree with you guys more
Man this album still gives me chills 11 years later. Some of the best metal I've ever heard. ❤️
This album was a game changer and got rinsed 4 times a day to and from journey at work and everywhere inbetween.
Hail Periphery
I mean Stan
I thought you predicted the future because most of the comments here are 10 years old, then I saw yours is from 7 months ago.
Spencer, in MY opinion is the greatest vocalist in metal history. He doesn't just make music, he creates art.
After all this time, this is always an album to come back.
I always come back to p2
This is the most important metal album of the modern era, and I don't feel that is up for debate. This album changed everything, for everybody in the genre. Production, how to record modern music, the guest spots, the moments on the album, I could go on all day with reasons why this is objectively the most important single modern metal album. The more I learn about production, mixing, arrangement, composition, etc. in metal, the more this album's importance is made even clearer.
A timeless masterpiece where every song takes you on a ride 🎉
That's probably the best opening track to an album I've ever heard. Perfectly sets the tone for the rest of it.
what I like about the beginning is, the intro really says, Welcome to the album, it really is the best intro I've ever heard, great job guys
2:20, the riffing is amazing
One of the greatest albums I've ever heard.. Just 69 minutes with pure awsomeness
That solo in "Luck As A Constant" is the epitome of music. Love that solo!
No matter how many times I listen to it, it's still manages to amaze me
Brandon Tadday Jake Bowen's solo or Misha's?
OHG1997 Both.
BT Studio Productions Misha until the upwards pattern at 27:56. That is the start of Jake's
+BT Studio Productions Absolutely agree. That solo is definitely one of the high points of musical achievement in the history of ears. Easily my favorite solo of all time.
I didn't get my hands on this band untill the p4 release. I listened to animals as leaders and had no idea who Misha was. Needless to say I'm inspired and utterly floored. This band is unbelievable.
I discovered them post P4 as well, and holy goddamn fuck. So much dope music to get into between periphery, bulb, and everything else they touch
This is most definitely one album that can be played from start to finish without skipping a single second! I still listen to this like it came out today! I hoping for a ten year anniversary tour for this masterpiece
That would be sick!
This album lyrically, musically, and thematically, beats anything they've ever done since. Period. It's just one of the most important metal albums ever, man.

"progressive"
@@kenshiku Progressive metal (sometimes known as prog metal) is a fusion genre melding heavy metal and progressive rock that combines the loud "aggression" and amplified guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or "pseudo-classical" compositions of the latter. Any confusion?
This is still the best Periphery album. Much nostalgia. Much yes.
I am glad you all are smart about advertising for your bands on here. Had this video not been here, I would have never even heard of Periphery let alone be able to sample the album enough to make a decision to buy it. Thank you - I am definitely picking this one up :)

They're way better with Spencer. He's, hands down, the best vocalist this band has had. Though, his uncleans do remind me of Nick Xourafas'.. (Former Structures frontman) p.s. I loved Nick when he was in Structures.
